Casa del Mar, Langkawi

Lovely, Peaceful Casa Del Mar
"Just returned from 7 nights at the Casa Del Mar and loved it. It is a small hotel but perfectly formed. The rooms are spotless and look like they have been refurbished recently. Lots of little touches to make your stay that little more comfortable, and the staff are really friendly.
Great location as you can leave the hotel and walk 5 minutes and get to great bars and restaurants. Actually I say bars but mean Bar 'Debbies Place' just along the road is fantastic, it does excellent food and great cheap beer, and has the most entertaining bar staff on the island. If you like Indian food The Indian Palace accross the road from Debbies is fantastic.
Would definitely go back"

"Just returned from Langkawi where we stayed at Casa Del Mar for 6 nights and The Andaman for 3. Two different types of hotel. The Casa is small meaning you soon get to know the staff and other guests. The staff are extremely helpful and every little detail has been thought of. Rooms are very clean and comfy.
The Andaman is a lot bigger but still has very helpful and friendly staff. The position is beautiful but also remote. Rooms are comfy but are beginning to need refurbishment although they are clean.
Found Langkawi to be relaxed, friendly and beautiful."

"This is simply the best hotel I have ever stayed in. We had a junior suite at the end of the hotel with two balconies overlooking the palms and the beach. Service and facilites were excellent. Everything seems planned to make for a relaxing stay. Lots of luxury and abundance. The beauty of Casa del Mar is that it is small. You don't get lost in the system.
We didn't eat much at the restaurant because there are so many good cheap restaurants in the vicinity - we ate a lot of fresh crab for next to nothing. We did however go back to the restaurant for a couple of glasses of wine each night. The tables are virtually on the beach, under the palm trees, lit by groups of soft bamboo lights. Very romantic and beautiful, extremely relaxing.
I had a massage and facial in the spa one day. The massage was one of the best I have had. Blissful. The staff were excellent overall, especially Susan and the manager Andrew who make a point of meeting you and establishing contact from the beginning. Email me if you want more info."

Casa del mar - beautiful and relaxing hideaway
"My boyfriend and I spent six days here and were exceptionally impressed as the whole experience over exceeded our expectations. The hotel is small but beautiful and the service is faultless - friendly, helpful and sincere. We ate outside of the hotel to try different restaurants but agreed that the food at Case Del Mar was far better - great choice of traditional malaysian dishes and western options and all beautifully cooked. The beach the hotel is situated on is lovely - quiet and tranquil but with the option for water sports at very reasonable price. The only thing to be aware of is that the hotel is family friendly and there is only one pool - no seperate area for children.Given how small the hotel is it does mean that you could have small children screaming and splashing around you whilst you try to relax....On the whole I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to experience a piece of luxury at affordable prices with real value for money."

Romantic & Relaxing
"Casa del Mar is a Boutique Resort located on the main Pantai Cenang beach. Intimate and beautifully furnished it was originally built for it's wealthy owner as a private resort for family and friends, this shows in the design and quality throughout the resort.
You are picked up at the airport and transported to the resort. There are no formalities here. You register while sitting on the lounge sipping on a welcome cocktail and you are then escorted to your room.
These are very private with each one facing the beach. With ceiling to floor glass and privacy shutters they are spacious and furnished with natural timber and tiled throughout. The bathrooms are large with a separate bath and shower.
Breakfast is included in the room rate and is served in the terrace area of the restaurant whilst taking in the view. You choose from western style dishes such as Eggs Benedict, Pancakes or Malaysian local specialties with fresh plunger coffee or a choice of teas.
It is the little touches of the Resort that I really enjoyed. Like the topping up of your fruit bowl each day, your ice bucket and peanuts refilled each afternoon and fresh milk for your morning coffee.
Leave a book lying face down when you go out and when you return it will be closed with a Casa del Mar bookmark marking your spot.
The pool is also on the beachfront. Laze the day away while taking in the view. A tapas-style menu is available if you don't wish to move from your chair. Cold watermelon and refresher towels are supplied by the attentive pool staff. No request is too great. Highly recommended."

Attention to detail
"My partner and I have just had a very relaxing week in Langkawi, staying at the boutique resort of Casa Del Mar.
With only a small amount of rooms (32 I believe) the resort is never crowded and loungers in front of the pool or on the beach are plentiful. The staff are very perceptive, supplying ice cold water and fruit whilst you work on the tan. DVD's are complimentary, along with internet access, and a good library of books, so if the sun has dealt you a harsh blow you can easily relax in your room for a few hours.
The inhouse spa is fantastic, and the staff are lovely and very well trained. I recommend the traditional Malay massage!
The best thing about this place is all the little touches, and to go into too much detail would spoil the surprise!"

Family-friendly and the nicest on Pantai Tengah
"We travelled with one small almost two-year-old baby, and actually had a relaxing time. The resort is right on the beach and the staff are happy to set up umbrellas for shade over the sand (but far from the water). The water was pleasantly warm and very placid - perfect for our son. We also enjoyed looking for seashells of which there were a plethora. There are tables right outside most of the rooms so you can easily put baby down to sleep and then enjoy lunch or dinner while staying nearby. We also used a babysitter a few evenings, and found it useful, but she didn't have children of her own (minus points for me). The reason to come here is for peace and quiet, a great beach with wonderful sand and a gorgeous sunset views. The restaurant next door - Sunset Beach Resort Beergarden - is right on the sand, very informal and has good margaritas and pizza, pasta, and grilled seafood. Highly recommended as the menu at Casa Del Mar can quickly get old. If it was between Pelangi (right next door) and Casa Del Mar, I still chose Casa Del Mar - it's more upscale, smaller, and all around classier. However, for people with bigger kids, Pelangi is probably a better choice as they have more activities and a huge pool. As for Sunset beach Resort next door on the other side, it's super cheap and offers the same location for dirt cheap. However, you miss out on the service and faciilities (likea decent-sized pool) of Casa Del Mar. Oh, and the free 30 minutes of internet is a nice touch as is the afternoon tea. But don't bother with the tiramisu - ridiculously overpriced and terribly un-Italian (shouldn't have expected anything close to authentic). As usual, we were already planning our return trip while we were there, but this time I think we actually will be back."

Will be back
"We spent 6 nights at this hotel. It is straight on the beach, few metres from shops and restaurants.
After our arrival we were greeted with cold drinks and cold towels, while the staff helped us to fill some forms and while they took our suitcases to the room.
Our room was 101, next to the Beach Garden Resort - restaurant, but we had no problem with any noise. The room is spacious with a huge bed, chair, TV and DVD player... the bathroom is a good size with bath and separate shower corner. The views from the room are beautiful.
There is loads of nice things to say about this hotel, so I mention just a few:
- 2 bottles of water every morning and evening
- ice in a ice bucket (changed every afternoon)
- they change fruit every day (bananas, leaches....)
- every evening they give you a small paper with weather forcast for the next 3 days, and suggestion, what to do...
The staff are VERY friendly, they helped us with everything we asked for. My husband is already planning our next holiday there. We cannot fault anything about this small boutique hotel."

"We booked Casa Del Mar based on reviews we had read on this site (originally we were going to stay at Sheraton Langkawi Beach resort, but we had heard some bad things).
Well the reviews didn't lie...this place is amazing. OK so there was some building work going on on the far side of the hotel, but this was quickly forgotton about once we had sampled the service at the hotel. Nothing is too much for the staff, who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and special, from scented flannels and fruit at the pool side, to the meals at the hotel at night (I recommend having a private BBQ...staff supply the food/drink and BBQ, all you have to do is cook it, and they will even do this for if you want!). The rooms are spacious, clean and modern.
The beach the hotel is on is not the best I have ever seen, but the rest of the place is just what is required during a stay in Langkawi."

Friendly & Pretty
"We stayed with friends for 2 weeks and had a great time. The staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant delicious and varied (sometimes it's nice not to have something spicy). The rooms were clean, perfect size and the sitting area outside a great view of the sunsets. The pool area and bar is particuarily nice and quiet. The beach outside the hotel is very clean (they rake it every day) but the rest of the beach was not quite as good. A walk up and down the beach makes you realise that you are definately staying at the best hotel on this part of the island. Make a trip to the Bon Ton restaurant for seriously good food in an wonderful setting and do the jungle 'swinging' it's worth every second. Friends have been on our reccommendation and have been equally as pleased."
