My favorite hotel in KL
"Somerset hotel is great place to stay in KL. The rooms are big, service is great and all staff are very nice. Everyday you get a bottle of water.
Hotel is close to the shopping mall Pavillion and close to the Changkat Bukit Bintang - the clubbing area.
Not many taxi drivers know the Lorong Ceylon street. But try Jalan Raja Chulan street, which they know."

Great place to stay!!
"We had 2 nights here and were very happy with the location, rooms, air conditioner, pool and breakfast! Very spacious rooms. Good views. Great restaurants close by. Close to shops also. Our family loved it and we would gladly stay here again."

"To my mind, it is service that sets the Somerset apart from other hotels. I am not sure how many rooms/ apartments it has, but my family and I were very impressed at the level of service provided - not just what staff did for their guests but how they did it. It was personal and friendly without being intrusive.
The front desk surprised me with a birthday greeting on the morning of my birthday and they even came by with a cake in the evening with a birthday song to boot. How about that?
Apart from that, the Somerset ticks other boxes too - our spacious 2 bedder was a comfortable home away from home. It is well located - short walk to the Bukit Bintang area and close to the usual tourist haunts.
Would stay at the Somerset again without any hesitation."

Good value and well located
"My wife and I spent three nights with the Somerset in April 2010 while sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur and surrounds. The hotel is well located, with easy walking distance of a diverse range of eating and drinking establishments. The bukit bingtang walk is also a short trip away.
Our checkin and checkout was very smooth, our 1 bedroom apartment on the 11th floor was well appointed, clean and functional. Sadly, a broken tap in the bathtub shower head was reported but not repaired during our stay, but did not present an issue as the room also contained a shower.
We made good use of the pool and small gym, and additional water was provided daily. As a building with short and long stay guests, we were well treated at all times despite our short stay. Breakfast was minimal but appropriate, and a convenient italian cafe and restaurant is in the foyer of the building which was very useful for an espresso coffee fix.
We found the bed to be quite firm, but on reporting this to reception a thick underlay was provided immediately, which was a great improvement.
A solid accomodation for guests at a very competitive rate, and very suitable for those who prefer a firm bed."

Excellent Stay - this is the place you are looking for. Great for KL stay
"We stayed at these apartments on the 25th to 27th march 2010. This was our second visit to Kuala Lumpur but the first at these apartments.
I booked these apartments as a result of recommendations on this site and the fact that we had booked the same companyâs apartments at Singapore (Somerset Liang Court during this trip _ see review on that site.)
We travelled from KLIA to the apartments by taxi 102 MYR. We returned to the airport using the express train from KL Sentral - which was slightly more expensive for three of us at 35 myr one way - but we wanted to try the train - very efficient route to the airport.
These apartments are excellent in all respects. They are spacious, clean and well located. Our visit was short but we would have no hesitation in making them our first choice when visiting KL. The inclusive breakfast is served overlooking the swimming pool. Not the luxurious 5star affair but more than adequate to set you up for the day fruit, cereal etc, even a guy to cook eggs to your preference. (My last visit I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental and had Beef Redang for breakfast â a mistake that had the repetition of kippers all day!)
The staff are pleasant and were most helpful in making our stay enjoyable. We had a two bed roomed apartment which was huge and included a king and double bedroom. The only minor gripe was that the beds were a little firm for our liking. Still a few Tiger Beers at Jalan Alor rectifies that!
We wished to visit the sky bridge at the Twin Towers which requires you to queue for a free ticket. We arrived at the basement ticket office at the towers at 8.15am to find around 300 people in the queue. They only issue 1400 tickets each day so you have to make the effort to arrive early. Having got tickets for the 3pm time slot we then went on the Bus tour of the city which is a hop on hop off tour
We timed it to arrive back at the Twin Towers in time for the visit to the Sky Bridge at the Towers. The views are excellent. The PETRONAS Twin Towers in my opinion are one of the worlds most beautiful buildings, especially when lit at night.
Now comes the mistake, we returned to the hop on tour â please be warned that Friday afternoon / rush hour is not the time to do this tour. We crawled around the route taking over an hour to do about a mile and a half.
The apartments are located within a short walk of Bukit Bintang and the centres of retail therapy. There are lots of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. The Hawker Food Street â Jalan Alor is no more than 500 yards. We ate there both evenings of our stay. The food was excellent and cheap â itâs a must do seeing as you are so near.
The apartments are first class and if your requirements are space, security and privacy, these apartments are an oasis in the hustle of the city. They are top of my list for future visits."

"We have stayed at this hotel in a two bedroom apartment for ten days.
The apartment is clean and modern, with a view from our lounge across to the twin towers. The Kitchen is well equiped, and showers are great. The location is awesome and only a short stroll to fab restaurants, Lot 10, Pavillion, Time Square, and BB. Alternatly a 10ringgi ($3Aust) for a cab to China town, Little India, KLCC - Petronas towers, in 5-10 minutes. The swimming pool is cool and clean, with a jaccuzzi and gym. The staff are friendly. We had a washing machine and drier in room as well but ended up just getting our clothes laundered for only a few dollars - very cheap. There is a restaurant Nero's on ground floor that does a reasonable pasta. As the previous reviews state the breakfast on offer at the hotel is basic, and nothing to write home about. They offered: coffee, juice, toast, fruit, noddles, crossants, egg - omlette, cereal... so you wont go hungry. To be honest there is so much food on offer all over the city that we never were to fussed and only had our free breakfast at hotel a couple of times. I made me booking direct with a girl named Athar at hotel for 425 ringi / night for four adults in 2 bdrm apartment with comp. b'fast. The photos online were just like our room, and a true representation. We will be definately booking here again when we return in Sept."

Great apartments in central location
"We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the 7th floor. room had views of petronas towers which was great of a night time. Apartment was spacious and modern with kitchen and washer/dryer for laundry. Rooms were very clean and fresh. pool was very nice and breakfast by the pool was a nice way to start hot days. Air conditioning was superb. Hotel staff were very helpful and professional. Overall a great place to stay within 5 monute walk to Bukhit Bintang and easy taxi ride to other attractions. Only suggestion for improvement is there was no computers for internet access. Needed your own device to link to wireless."

Fantastic Location, Fantastic Service
"This hotel was perfect for our family. With 2 young toddlers, it was a clean, spacious 2 bed apartment with well equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Also had a safe and washer/dryer. We had a fantastic view of the Petronas towers. The staff were genuinely friendly, helpful and professional. I cannot fault a single staff member during the entire 11 day stay. The complimentary breakfast was perfectly adequate, we ate so much delicious cheap food during the day, that we were all happy to have just toast or cereal anyway. There is also hot food as well if you prefer. My husband loved the omellette made to order each morning.
The location is great, lots of expat restaurants nearby, 5 min walk to Bukit Bintang shops, and to Jalan Alor - the fabulous street lined with Hawker stalls.
Only downside was that they need better soundproofing between the walls with the other apartments. But that is a very sml point and didn't really affect our stay much at all.
We would definately stay here again."

Apartment hotel in heart of KL
"This is great apartment hotel in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown. Lately the area has become very trendy, with expatriate bars and italian restaurants housed in old renovated shop houses. Depending on the location of your room, you might hear some some of the disco bar music if you open the balcony doors on Friday or Saturday.
It is very easy to get to the monorail line and and walking distance to restaurants and several malls. There is also a sister hotel called the Ascott, which is closer to the KLCC twin towers which I would also recommend.
The rooms / apartments are spacious, clean and equiped with a DVD player and stereo and high speed internet. Only weak point to the hotel is the complimentary breakfast which is not always good but the well equipped kitchenette in the apartment should give you everything you need to make a nice meal or breakfast."

"The Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon is a great KL hotel. We were on the 8th floor in a 2 bedroom apartment. The room was very clean and spacious and had a great view of the city. The hotel is in very close walking distance to the main street of KL, bukit bintang and also to the monorail that can take you to other places. The included breakfast was fine it has ceareals, croissants, juices and vaiorus other things, it is a contental type of breakfast."

Pretty good overall
"Bedrooms are nice, with laminate wood flooring and very comfortable bed. The remainder of the room has tile flooring, as does the main corridor so it can be a little noisy if people above you are stomping around or dragging suitcases along the corridor floor. But these are minor issue. Breakfast is limited but nothing wrong with it. Those who complain are usually the one's who want everything free and lots of it too. Reasonably close to the KL Monorail and the cruisy bar/restaurant area on Jalan (road) Ceylon. The ONLY thing we didn't like was the extraordinary number of pretentious guests in this hotel. They never smile or chat and look you up and down as if you are something the cat dragged in which is certainly NOT us. Very odd sort of guest here but we've learned to give as good as we get when it comes to the snooty look! Thankfully the hotel staff are wonderful. They are prompt, polite and... they smile too."

Happy with Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon
"Just returned from a week's stay at the Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon and I am surprised with all the negative reviews. We were happy with our two-bedroomed apartment and found it quite spacious for a family of 2 adults and 2 teenage children. There was no noise at all even though we were on the 6th floor. Housekeeping was done daily and we always had clean towels and rooms. The staff were very hospitable and we were made to feel very welcome, right down to the welcoming basket of fruits and daily bottles of mineral water.
There was construction going on outside the hotel but that is a common sight in KL. However we didn't hear anything from our rooms. We were always greeted with a smile by the staff and they were very helpful in suggesting places to visit.
The only complaint I would have is the daily breakfast, there wasn't much variety and the hot food was quite cold by the time we got down at 9am. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and I would fully recommend the hotel to anyone. It's within walking distance to the main shopping district and there are heaps of international restaurants in the area."
