Not what we thought.......
"We have been to Bali many times. We thought that seeing we were going to bring out children (11, 12 & 13 ) we would cater for their needs. Big pool, kids club with slide and a big room. All seemed good on the internet until we arrived. The room was dissapointly old and run down. Location was FAR from anything, which we thought we could deal with, however, if you have been to Bali before then you realise just how far way this place if from anything!!!!! The kids club was embarrassingly crude. We quickly asked to be moved to their sister hotel sanur paradise plaza hotel. We where treated well by the staff and promptly moved to a lovely poolside room, kids had there own room next door. All done for the same rate. We had a great time, breaky was great and staff were friendly and attentive. The spa room was wierd, run down and down in the bowels of the hotel. Lovely girls though who gave a good massage to my wife and I. We would not stay at the suites again, however, we would stay at the hotel and the staff at both places are fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is only the location and standard of rooms of the suites that let it down."

Good for families who like to spend time with kids
"After reading the last review I feel compelled to rate this place. We stayed here in 2008 & 2007 with our two kids now 8 & 6 years. We have stayed at various places in Bali including Novotel Nusa Dua & the Sheraton Laguna & yes you get what you pay for. This is a 3 1/2 star property in my book. The rooms are 3 star and the grounds 4 star. We are a family that plays together & our kids don't ever wished to be dumped in a kids club anyway. I agree the kids club looked crappy. If that is your main draw card don't bother.
BUT if you want to hang out with your kids at a reasonable cost this is a great place. The water slide pool side with play area was cool to be around with the kids. If I had a dollar for each time the kids (& us) went down the waterslide we would have paid for our holiday. Our kids made friends and played with many kids from various nationalities. There was a constant flow of return (non bogan) Aussie guests with youngsters in tow.
Location of the resort is widely advertised as a shuttle away from the beach & cheap nice eats so it should be expected straight up. It only costs a $2-$3 taxi fare back which dosn't break the bank considering the savings you are making in accomodation fees.
In summary if you like chilling with your kids and can sacrifice being next to the beach this place is great. In the last 2 years we have spent the first week here then finished off with another week a bit more more upmarket."

space and comfort
"We have stayed at the suites twice and would recommend it to anyone looking for great value and enough space to enjoy your holiday with kids.
If you are looking for a holiday where you admire the furniture then this is not for you. if, on the other hand you want a clean, well maintained hotel with excellent service and rooms that will allow you to live in a civilized manner then the suites are for you.
What the hotel lacks in proximity to the beach is more than made up for in the way you can spread the family and all the accoutrements of a week's stay into wardrobes. No fighting over the TV -there are 2 of them. 2 bathrooms also cut down on the tension and the kids' pool is excellent.
We used the shuttle bus and taxis to get to and from the beach without any hassle or inconvenience."

"I just want start this review by saying this was our 4th trip to bali as a family and we have stayed at a different place each time we have been there. Look overall the stay wasnt really bad, but there just isnt enough to do in the hotel or out of it. The suites are large and great for families but the do need a bit of a clean.
They are also in the process of renovating so make sure that you are not over or under a room they are renovating. We were. They started drilling and hammering a 7.00am. When we complained the staff at the front desk kept telling us there was no work being done. It wasnt until we got them into our suite with the floor vibrating and not being able to hear each other speak that they believed us!!
Now the suites are in Sanur and there is not a lot there. You cant really walk anywhere as the suites are on a main road you have to get transport or the hotel shuttle. Its like taking a trip the long way round the block. The rooms are great there is plently of room we had a 3 bedroom loft. We had problems with the plumbing in two of our bathrooms, which they attempted to fix but it wasnt brilliant, nor was it fixed. If you want your room cleaned properly stay in the room while they are cleaning and specifically ask for things to be cleaned. Our bathrooms were very mouldy, nothing a bit of a scrub wouldnt have fixed.
Breakfasts were lovely and full of variety. Staff were great.
In the many times we have been to bali we have never been approached by time share operators, we received a phone call early one morning to tell us we had won a competition and $3000 worth of free accomodation and that we were to receive the red carpet treatment in Kuta. It is time share. My parents ho travelled with us received a phone call a day later. When my mum informed the gentleman on the other end of the phone we had already made the trip to collect prizes the day before he laughed and hung up. Be aware, he has an australian accent.
People in the other hotel (sister) hotel had said that people were contacting guests asking for passport numbers. Strange conincidences just be aware.
Food was in the hotel was great. Staff very pleasant.
Look if you have older children this is not really the place for you. We have three children 6, 13, 12. A lot of younger kids here, Pin in kids club is lovely and really social. Better off at the Dynasty with older kids as there is always something going on."

Great for families
"We spent ten days here in a three-bedroom apartment, travelling with our two small children. Overall, I thought it was great. The pools are lovely, and there is plenty to do for small children. The apartment itself was very spacious. The kitchen was poorly kitted out though. We hired a microwave from Bali Baby Hire and bought some other equipment we needed for even basic cooking.
The breakfasts are quite good, but nothing to get excited about. The shuttle bus to the main drag - and supermarket - is handy but we ended up getting taxis often because they are so cheap.
All in all, a great set up for people with children or who want a lot of space at a very reasonable price."

Great Family Hotel
"We have stayed at the Plaza suites 3 years in a row and love the place. Yes it is a little out of the way of Sanur, but with the Shuttle Bus service and transport drivers on hand (thanks Agung) we found no problems getting around. The staff are fabulous and remember us and the kids each year (Pin, Rupa especially). The kids pool and games rooms are great and the staff are friendly and helpful and love playing with the kids. The apartments are huge and are getting repainted each year. They have updated the furniture this year.
We have found our home away from home in July, we love it!!!"

Very Disappointed with location
"There were two main reasons that we picked this hotel:
1. as a family of 6, this was the only place in bali to offer apartment style accommodation.
2. offered babysitting for a 2 year old.
The apartment it self was very large and roomy. we had the 3 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms and there was plently of room for all of us. the decor was a little worn and needed and overhaul, but generally we were very happy with the apartment.
our room was located at the back of the facility and was very noisy with local dogs barking all night and local traffic in the back streets sometime annoying. there was an extremely loud whistling noise which came from the ceiling. nothing we did would stop it. needless to say my husband and i didnt sleep very all at all.
the other disappointment was, we were unable to get babysitting for your 2.5yr old as we were told the hotel was at full occupancy (didnt look that way to us) and they needed all staff to work at the hotel. we were very annoyed about this as it was a main reason for picking the hotel.
the breakfast at the suites was very ordinary with very little variety and some days not even having bacon at the buffet!!
the local of the suites is very out of the way. with a good 20-30 min walk into the main area of sanur for any shopping or the beach or restaurants. everywhere you went it cost you in a taxi (if you missed the shuttle or it had finished for the day). approx 9000rup by taxi from hotel to the shops. it is close to half hr from kuta costing 11,500rup per person by the hotel transport.
the hotel needs a make over. the kids pool area was great and the kids club staff very friendly.
would i recommend it to anyone...probably not"

Great for kids
"I stayed at the Paradise Suites in late May 2008, and had a great time. We travelled as a family of 4, parents and two kids aged 2 and 4. We had a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment, which was wonderful. The kitchen could have done with a few simple repairs (a cabinet doorhandle was coming off) and maybe a bit of a makeover, but as I didn't intend to cook it was not too much of a problem!
The apartment was very large, with miles of room in the 2nd bedroom for twin beds and a cot. Both bathrooms had full sized baths, so the kids had their own bath to mess up while ours was free for relaxing. Rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels were left if needed. There was a large TV with satelite, so the kids could watch Dora the Explorer in the morning while we got ready!
Buffet breakfast was large and varied, with a good selection of cereals, hot food and bakery items.
The best thing for the kids was the supervised kids area, with pool and slide, a great playground for the little kids, and an indoor area with toys, games and craft activities.
I would definately recommend it for families with kids.
Oh and be sure to have a massage at the on-site spa...it is well worth it!"

good option for family of 5
"stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment for 15 nights commencing July 15. Room itself is very large and well appointed, 3 loo's, 2 showers, upstairs bedroom/loft., 3 televisions, everyone was comfortable and had plenty of space. Recommend the chinese food from the hotel, delivered every hour. Kids loved the Kids Club and we felt the supervision was excellent, our kids are 8,9 and 10. Breakfast is ordinary in that it is basic, but it did us well and kids loved it. Room service was OK and priced well. May stay there again only because the options available to a family of 5 is limited. Friend stayed at Dynasty, same time, his hotel foyer and pool much better, but our room a lot better. Our hotel guests family orientated, Dynasty's more outgoing!"

"Well...... what can I say? We (3 children + 2 adults) stayed in a 3 bedroom apt. for 7 nights. Check-in was smooth, everything was fine.
The apartment itself (no.2123) was in dire need of a coat of paint. It looked more tired than me...... but in saying that, also not a bad thing with 3 children. At least we could relax without worrying about them making a mess.
Beds were comfortable; bathrooms fine; no traffic noise; good blockout curtains for sleeping in (if you like); EXCELLENT waterslide which served the children (aged 6, 7 & 13) well. Room service was efficient. We ordered for the children sometimes but preferred to eat out ourselves. Prices were definitely more expensive than eating out BUT it is convenient and still good value.
Camp Splash staff were friendly and good with the children.
If you're after a 'romantic location' then this probably isn't it . Would I stay there again?? Yes I probably would if I had the children with me.
We chose to stay here because we liked the idea of an apartment rather than adjoining rooms and it did work well for us as a family.
It's not ON the beach but has a free shuttle back & forth and taxi/drivers range between 10 and 20,000 rp each way if you miss it."

Dated, but still Rated
"Massive Rooms. We stayed in a 3BR unit that was bigger than our house!!! All BRs were double sized, with two bath rooms. Massive living/Dining area and even had a bar (Not stocked though) Only minimal cooking facilities, but that doesn't matter, because the nearby restaurants are so cheap, you couldn't be bothered buying and cooking. We just got b'fast cereals (so we could sleep in) and ate out the rest. With four kids and drinks, our average meal was AUD$20. Some restaurants will pickup and drop off for free. Sanur is a lot more quieter than Kuta, but offers all the same shopping outlets for similar prices. Is a lot easier to get to Denpasar for shopping and a good base to see all the attractions in Bali (ie Ubud, Monkey Forest, Celuk, Kintamani etc) With kids the first place to visit should be the Marine Safari Park at Taman. Very good value and combines just about all parks into one. Take your swimmers, as there is a water park, suitable to <10yr olds. The SUITES appear to be a former Radisson, with a good kids club 9am-12pm and 1pm-6pm. The kids area has a 30m waterslide, climbing equipment swings, and a b/ball court, soccer field type area. Our kids loved and are itching to get back there. The rooms are in need of a lift, but this would only up the price unnecessarily. There are very clean and well maintained. Great Value. Great location. Enjoy"

very convenient for family
"We stayed 1 week here in a 3 bedroom suite, with 8 people. the place is quiet clean and the staff are okay. Your bedrooms are cleaned everyday. The kitchen had plenty of utilities for us to heat our leftover foods that we took home, but no microwave, so we used the stove. If your traveling with the whole family like us and have one car to go around with, this hotel is a very good deal for the price.since we have no children in the family, we don't know much about the facilities for children. If you like rooms with sea views, this isn't the place. Overall our stay was enjoyable especially since we have a car to go around with."
