Good economy choice near the beach

"This is a good choice if you want to be near the beach and are willing to sacrifice some luxury items.

The property is very quiet and nicely landscaped. It is located about 100 meters from the beach, on the other side of the main road running along the beach. You need to walk down a dark residential street, but we felt safe at all times. Our slightly cramped room had a queen and a twin size bed, a mosquito net that did not cover the bed, a small refrigerator, color TV, a noisy A/C, and a small desk. There was a small patio outside the front door with two chairs, a small table and a rack for drying clothes. The bathroom had a toilet and shower. Some of the tiles were worn. Soap but not shampoo was provided.

There is a small pool next to the dining area. There is a billiards table. For breakfast, you have a choice of eggs or pancakes, which comes with a fruit plate and coffee or tea. The food quality was ok, but not great. There are many restaurants along the main road, as well as some convenience stores.

Overall, this was a decent choice of your goal is to be near but not on the beach, and you don't need things like on-site golf or massages."

A Place to Relax and Enjoy Amongst Friends

"We stayed at Prima Cottage 22/09/09 to 26/09/09 after having stayed in Kuta for 9 days prior. On our arrival we we were made to feel very welcome and were shown to our first floor room 7A with balcony. The Hotel is not on the main street, so is relatively quiet. (We actually heard a rooster crow inthe distance, something I havenot heard for years)

The hotel is not a modern structure with all the glass and concrete, but is more like a home from home. The style is Balinese with carvings around the doors etc. The room was very comfortable with large double bed and ensuite, with airconditoning (though we only used it one night - the weather was in the 24-28 degree range). The furniture is not modern, but then we did not pay to live in a display home.

We loved the greeness of the gardens, which were well maintained.

We did spend some time walking round Sanur - in fact we did not use a taxi once in the four days we were there. We traipsed up and down the main street (about 5 mins walk from Hotel) or spent some time walking up and down the beach front - enjoying a drink or a meal here and there. (about 15 mins walking from Hotel)

We often ate at the Hotel eating place next to the pool. We enjoyed free breakfasts and enjoyed mainly local dishes, which were ably prepared by Manto - and oh - we did imbibe a bit of bintang. We also used the laptop provided at the bar and at 10,000 Rp a hour was good value ($1.25 Aus).

It was the friendliness of the staff that made our stay so enjoyable. We are not young people but the staff made us feel young.

They even provided a personal wake up call at 4am in the morning (our plane was leaving early).

Vicky, the bloke in charge, made sure that if we needed anything attended to it was done promptly. He, Jon and Wilson were also extremely helpful when my wife and I became separated in Sanur on the last day of our visit. Thankfully everything turned out okay but their caring attitude and helpfulness will never be forgotten by us.

Terima kasih!"

"Stayed 5 nights here. Thoroughly enjoyed having a charming bungalow situated with garden outlook. The staff were very friendly but not well trained. Everything was clean - room, pool area, restaurant. Downside was the OLD bathroom in the bungalow - quite off putting - and the very basic restaurant menu. My objection was the price - upon investigation I found that there are other hotels VERY CLOSE that aren't much dearer and I found they were much better value."

"We needed one night in Sanur before catching the Scoot boat across to Nusa Lembongan and didn't want anything too expensive, so this place fitted the bill nicely. The manager, Vicky, is actually a Balinese man who is a bit of a colorful character - especially his shirts!

We had a standard room which included hot water and air con. It was clean, comfortable and quiet, as the hotel was in a back street a couple of hundred metres from the main street. I talked to some of the other guests at the hotel who had been there longer than I had and they all said it was a good place to stay.

The pool and gardens looked OK, although I didn't have a chance to use them. Overall, I can recommend this place to anyone who isn't after 5 star facilities."

"Very nice, small & clean!!! Extremely friendly and personal treatment, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful garden. Not expensive but a bit more than for the typical backpackers, that's why rather quiet. Strongly recommended, if you look for something different than big hotels with spa center, disco and plenty of other tourists..."

Definitely a hotel worth a return stay

"My family of 4 (with 2 young children) stayed for 4 nights in this very lovely no-frill hotel which treasures all its guests. The management was fantastic and took the time and trouble to speak to all guests, even the children. The room was clean and sufficiently big for our family. The owners were very accommodating, even allowing us to check out in the evening at no extra charge as our flight out was at night. The hotel is conveniently located, within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, supermarkets and massage parlours, yet peaceful and quiet enough for a relaxing vacation. Despite the hotel's small size, each cottage has its own private space and garden."

"Having stayed at Prima Cottage a couple of times now, I can certainly reccommend it to others, both young and old!
Magdelena and her staff are the key to the success ...always smiling, friendly and ever helpful.
Prima seems to attract a good cross-section of guests (travellers/vacationers etc), which combined with the relaxed atmosphere, makes it a great place to unwind and meet other people.
The location is nice and quiet (few minutes walk from the beach)
Good food, a pool and free wifi caps it all!"

"Thanks to Magdalene and her helpful staff my stay was great. Loved the pool and relaxed morning coffee with other guests.
Food was great and varied, due to all the restaurants in Sanur that do deliveries. hot and very quick.
The villas are perfectly located to give privacy and the outside living area was big enough for a family to have space.
Cottage rooms were very comfortable and spacious as well. Prima far surpassed my expectations of a budget hotel."

"Our family of 5 stayed two nights at Prima Cottages. The accomodation is very adequate - no frills but basic and clean. The garden is lovely and the pool area and the bar/restaurant area are very nice. The food was very good. We looked at a number of places in Sanur and was by far the best value we could find. The location is slightly off but still within walking distance to restaurants and the beach. The hotel has Wifi which is useful.
Magdalena who runs the place abd the other staff were enormously friendly and helpful at all times."

Stinky, Hot and Disappointing...

Awful

"We've had great success with previous hotels we've found online, but this hotel did not live up to our expectations. Our room stunk horribly of urinal cakes, which were left in the shower by management to mask the smell of sewer. The air conditioner did not work and our clothes (and everything in the room) were permeated with the smell from the bathroom and humidity. There was only one electrical outlet in the room, located directly above the sink. The restaurant was 'out of order'. Within hours, we knew we had made a mistake."

"Fantastic experience -great staff, friendly and helpful. The only down part is that you have to walk for 5/10 minutes to reach the beach. Prices are reasonnable but high enough to keep away noisy backpackers."
