The perfect place
"We travelled around in south east Asia for 4 months, Flashbacks was the best place we stayed at in those four months. The plan was to stay at flashbacks for a couple of days, we stayed for 2 weeks.
This place is perfect for a calm vacation, the staff is lovely, the rooms are beautiful and the owners are always smiling. The Porch, flashbacks restaurant, has some of the best food in Sanur.
You will miss this place when you leave."

"We throughly enjoyed our stay at Flashbacks. The grounds, rooms and service were fantastic. Simple but a great oasis - the pool area is beautiful and quiet - you would never know you are located on a busy street. The rooms were very clean and seemed freshly painted. The food at the hotel was the best we had in Bali - every dish was delicious and affordable. We ended up eating almost all of our meals there because the food was so excellent. The location is not bad as long as you plan on taking a cab to one of the other beaches for the day. We choose Sanur because we had read somewhere that it was one of the top three beaches in Bali. The walk to the beach from Flashback's was less than five minutes but the beach itself was not impressive. Lots of rocks, seaweed and garbage that did not make it a great place for children to play in or around the water. We used the hotel as a "base" and ended up taking a cab every day to a different beach - not a bad deal since the ride was less than 20 minutes and less than $10 US. One small glitch with our stay - we arranged airport pickup through the hotel which failed to show up. We waited for about 30 minutes and then ended up taking a cab. Not a big deal since the price was about the same but made us a little apprehensive when the transport did not arrive. The ride we found at the airport could not locate Flashbacks so we spent an extra 30 minutes trying to find the hotel - again; a small thing but would have made our stay start a little smoother. An apology was offered when we checked in but no explanation as to why the pickup was not at the airport."

the best B&B in the world!
"Flashbacks is a five star B and B. It is small with a tiny but beautifully placed pool, extremely clean well appointed rooms with small but important things like mosquito coils a turn down (unexpected but nice) a wonderful little cafe The Porch with really good food, you can order it and then eat by the pool! We loved the friendliness of everyone, staff and other guests included it is the kind of place you just start to chat to anyone who is there!
Peter and Jan (expat Australians) who own and manage Flashbacks are there most days and pay attention to the tiniest details ensuring guests have everything they require.
I cannot recommend Flashbacks highly enough, I would not stay anywhere else in Sanur, in fact probably in the whole of Bali."

Great Guesthouse for Peace and Serenity in Sanur...
"I found this great guesthouse here on Trip Advisor. I had read that Kuta was really crazy, and I was looking for someone more on the quiet side. This guesthouse is small and private, right in the center of Sanur, and there is a choice of rooms, I stayed in on of the bungalows, and it was great. It had air-con and a hot shower, and it was pretty hot there this time of year so you really need the cool air! The bungalow had a great outdoor style bathroom, made with stones and great decor. The property is really nice and there is lots of places to sit and relax and there is even a nice little pool to cool off in! Breakfast is included and there is a great cafe for meals so you dont have to even leave if dont want to! Its a great little oasis. The owner Peter is really nice and is great at getting back with you in making a reservation. Sanur was a little too busy with Hawkers trying to get you to take their transport, and I found it pretty annoying. But Flashbacks was a great Oasis , and I enjoyed my stay there. There are some great restaurants close by, and everything is sooo cheap! Great Choice!"

Small but perfectly formed
"Flashback's, as the other reviewers write is a small 'budget' hotel in Sanur, Bali.
We booked to stay here after finding their review in Lonely Planets 'Best of Bali' handbook. Actually, the day before we were to arrive.
Having already stayed in sanur the previous week, at one of the more luxury (expensive) hotels, we were keen to stay somewhere cheaper. Being the type of people who like to stay in nice hotels, we were a little worried at first. But as soon as we arrived there our fears were put to rest.
Yes, it is small, very small, but it doesn't feel like it at all. It is intimate, very romantic and quite beautiful. There is a small pool, but really, as there are not families of children running around, it is more than enough. It is warm, and filled with salt water, which is very nice indeed. We stayed in one of their bungalows, as they have their own bathrooms, which are absolutely beautiful, dark stone and like the rest of the room, extremely clean. Everything was spotless and perfect, unlike many of the bigger hotels in bali which feel run down and tired.
The cleaning of the area is literally continuous, and the staff are truly (this is rare in Bali) friendly and very nice. There is also free coffee, tea and water, and a very nice, if not a little small, breakfast in their cute cafe/shop.
If you like big hotels, you will hate this place, if you like romance, great staff, cleanliness and pretty well kept rooms, then this is the best place to stay in Sanur.
Other reviewers wrote that it is a problem with mosquitoes, but hey, this is bali, not new york, and they do provide free mosquito burners. A few bites are to be expected no?
stay there, love it."

Cute, clean and friendly
"Flashbackâs is a budget guesthouse located across the street from Sanur Beach. Unlike many of its neighbors it is not posh or luxurious with expansive grounds but is still quite comfortable, cute and a good value for the price. We booked our room directly through their website and stayed for three nights. Our first night was in a regular room that had no A/C or TV and cost $22USD including tax and breakfast. After one night we decided to upgrade to a much larger bungalow room with TV & A/C costing $46USD including tax and breakfast. Both rooms were spotless and nicely decorated, immaculately maintained, and had unique stone bathrooms
The rooms and bungalows are arranged around a small courtyard and swimming pool with a number of comfortable chairs, lounges and seating groups. The included breakfast each morning was French press coffee served with a simple fruit plate and toasted home baked cibatta bread. Tasty! Their café also serves a scrumptious lunch and pastries as well.
The only downside is that Flashbacks is not directly on the beach. But the lower price, and friendly service make it a great option if you are in Bali on a budget."

Small charming hotel
"The Flashback's it's quite a nice bugdet hotel in the Sanur area in Bali. We stayed there only for one night but we really liked their service. They have a small swimming pool but with a nice ambience. Their café is also very nice and their food very good. We were in the bungalow type of room, and it was with thatched roof. The only but it's that there were some mosquitoes even though they have AC in the bungalow. But I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends."
