"Fair hotel staff and security very friendly, front desk not quite as good. Hotel at bottom of steep hill took two days to plan escape. Really set out for business and functions any music totally for these groups. Have you heard Asians singing 'who the **** is alice'? Toursists are really a secondary consideration and first hotel I have ever been in where no information is supplied regarding local facilities, directions anything! Angela concierge helpful if you want to spend on the hotels resources. ie car from airport 1,500 rupees official charge 450. And so it goes did a local tour by bus all day for 130 rupees, hotel equivalent for half tour 3,200 each!! Taxis outside geared to tourists so half cost of hotel but 350 rupee trip 5 rupees on a bus, what an experience! Tin of tuna 220 rupees local shop, steak (and pretty good) in the hotel 250 rupees. Access to beach by public footpath actually go in the sea!!!!! I think not. Lovely views but water quality suspect. Used hotel pool but never saw or smelt any chemicals added, after 7 days had delhi belly and a rash? An experience, yes overall ok but wished had done more research for accessing other areas. National park worth a trip just to see some wild boar, nice forest and escape the pollution and garbage. Would I recommend it yes if you want to chill out. Room quite pleasent grounds also. If you had the nerve to hire a motor bike (150 rupees a day) could have a great time."

"First of all its a level of fraud to call this property as five star hotel. Maximum it can be called a Three Star hotel , as there is hardly anything in the hotel which can be called A FIVE STAR STANDARD. The Hotel Staff was rude and hardly had any courtesy to greet the guest in a the rightful manner, the food was pathetic and service was so poor that literally we had to leave our table to go some where . The only good about the hotel was the rooms were spacious. Else everything was food, staff, casino, local public very disappointing. We would send the suggestion to the hotel management in goa to downgrade this hotel to 2-3 star so that other people dont get disappointed. My personal suggestion would be if you looking for a high class hotel DONT even think of it, its a sheer disappointment."

Good Hotel with some Issues

"We were staying in Panaji but decided to stay for 1 night in this resort on recomendations from my friends. Resort is located in posh area but in secluded place making difficult to walk from main road. Hotel Complex is quite impressive with casino at ground floor. Rooms were maintained good with all amenities. Washrooms were not too impresive. Hotel guest are provided free entry in casino (Rs2000 to others) but I found it strange that that only 2drinks were provided free and that too very low brand. We had been to Casino pride ship previous 2nights and were offered unlimited booze of best brands. we were charged for drinks which we took and thought it was complimentry. Also snacks menu selection was very bad. At night we called room service for snacks listed in menu as 24hours service. But we were told none snacks were available except sandwich. We even complained to Manager Mr Malik who told that he was helpless. In morning breakfast was not good as they did not had ice, Bread toaster was not working so no toast. Waiters did not even cared for it. It was brought into notice of Front office manager who was kind enough to apologize for all this and then further provided us complimentry airport transfer and waiving off night sandwich bill. I appriciate his effort to make us happy. On the whole it is nice property with nice rooms. Staff need to be tightened up to put this hotel on top. I will surely come back to this hotelin future and also recomend this hotel to my friends."

"It was our Wedding Anniversary, therefore we decided to treat ourselves to a stay away from home. Unfortunately, it did not turn out to be quite as memorable as we had hoped. I had been intending to book directly with the Cidade de Goa, however, we booked the Vainguinim Valley Resort in Dona Paula SOLELY on the basis of MakeMyTrip.com's list of inclusions as they seemed to be better than we could find elsewhere. However, on arrival at the hotel we were told that the hotel would not accept them and that we should take it up with Make My Trip. In fact, this was the second shock of the day. Our first shock was to find the hotel has no on-site parking. Their only parking is an empty lot outside the hotel grounds, which in the rains is mud filled and probably underwater when it rains (as it does at the moment). Our second shock when we checked in was to discover that none of the inclusions mentioned by MakeMyTrip would be given as it was not the hotel policy! They told us to contact the Agent with whom we had made the booking. On calling MakeMyTrip, the toll free number would not work, we kept getting a "call failed" notice. We called their local Goa office but were told they could not deal with the issue and were given the mobile number of someone else who was responsible for online hotel bookings. We called this person, but while he promised to look into the matter and get back to me on my mobile or at the hotel, he never called us back! Certainly I would never use MakeMyTrip for any future hotel bookings as offering something that is not available is tantamount to fraud. The hotel itself, however, was pleasant. We had booked the more expensive rooms and found them to be extremely spacious and well decorated. Their internet connection at Rs. 600 for 24-hours, we found expensive. Since the promised discounts at the bar were not accepted by the hotel, we did not use it. However, around 8 pm we were pleasantly surprised when the hotel reception called their Head Office, who instructed them to offer the complimentary mini-bar in the room. This small concession takes what would have been a very poor review of both the hotel and the travel website to a good one for the hotel. We were also delighted by both the variety and service of their restaurant, Pan Asian, which served the most authentic food we have tasted outside of those countries. The food is delicious, the service came with a smile and a chat, and best of all the prices are exceptionally affordable. We were so impressed that two days later we dined there again, even though we were not resident at the hotel. If the hotel would address the issue of water-logged off site parking then it would become one of the best value for money hotels in the area."

Fantastic Vainguinim

"We have just spent New Year at the Vainguinim Valley Resort, and had such a fantastic time, we wanted to tell the world.. We had a large room with a balcony which overlooked the pool and garden areas, which were absolutely beautiful. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Food at the restaurants in the hotel was very good, although chefs appear to be a little bit heavy handed with spices!! The New Year party that was laid on, was magical... band, DJ, huge buffet, fireworks, twinkling lights.... just perfect... Spa at the hotel does every kind of treatment you could imagine at very reasonable prices. There is also a casino, we never used it, but by the amount of people coming and going.. it is very popular. I would recommend this hotel to couples who want a chilling holiday... 10 minutes in a taxi to Panjim, which has fantastic restaurants.. The hotel staff were also very helpful in recommending restauarants in town for us, and they were all wonderful.. Overall a perfect holiday...."

"Very large, comfortable and very clean hotel room and helpful staff. Seems to cater more for Asian business customers rather than European tourists, hence the casino. The food was good but repetitive, if you don't like curry you will struggle, as it is served every dinner and breakfast ! The pool area is not very comfortable and the elderly might find it difficult to get in and out of the pool - I did. Also, guests of this hotel cannot use the sun longers by the beach as these are exclusively for guests of the neighbouring Citade de Goa hotel. But overall this was a very good experience, and we had a great holiday."

just in the wrong place

"A top class hotel just as the other reviews say. it is just in the wrong place. The Cicade de goa has the small beach to its self and we found the beach not up to standard. Just along the road, Dona Paula jetty. what a dump.The sea pebbles was an interesting experience. W e had to go by taxi if we wanted to go to a beach . Candolim 40 mins. If you wanted to go south at least 1 hour."

"Stayed 7 nights in December 06. The hotel itself could not be faulted - the rooms were as expected for a 4/5 star hotel. Bright, clean and airy with plenty of space and good value. The staff were brilliant and there was nothing they would not gladly do for you. Food was of an equally high standard. The majority of guests at the time were indian. Local beach is a 3 minute walk and fine for a day or two. Hire a taxi, £13 the day to take you to beaches in the north or south."

Great staff, good hotel

"I booked two rooms at this place through First Choice at a bargain price for what you get (4star building aiming for 5star service, B&B, airport transfer, for £50 per room per night). The hotel is newish and trying very hard to offer international standards. There are some flaws (notably boring swimming pool), but overall the rooms and facilities are high quality, and the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. My 5 year old loved the Playstation room! My 3 year old was over the moon that the satellite channels included Cartoon Network in English. Big plus is the in-house tailor offering 24 hour service (can copy your favourite designs). Beach not very good, but short walk away. What was good is that Cidade de Goa (huge, 5 star hotel) is on the beach -- so we went to the various restaurants there, and had drinks at the cafe overlooking the Arabian Sea, even used their pool for a small fee (better for kids), and had a pedicure and massage at their beauty parlour. Vainguinim staff didn't mind at all -- in fact they were the best hotel staff I have ever had in India, and I've stayed in the best places -- various Taj's, Oberoi Grand, Intercontinental Grand, Hyatt and Sheraton -- all over India. The rooms are newer at Vainguinim than at the Cidade, but half the price; everything works, everything is super clean, the towels are bright white and fluffy, breakfast is plentiful and safe. The hotel also has a casino -- but we didn't use this particular facility."
