10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"i stayed at this hotel during third week of march 08.i think the hotel atmophere is pretty relaxing.two things i didnt like about the hotel is it does not have any things of interest/ play area for kids and secondly i found some areas like dining room had some bad smell at times.
the food , service & swimming pool were all good. The HIGH point of my stay there was the kerala body massage i got done there it was really relaxing on the body.
I stayed at the luxury room with the balcony and it was very well done.
i would recomned the "tate bar" just few steps out of the hotel as it serves good food & drinks plus also has some games for kids to enjoy."

woderful place to relax
"Soul vacation is a lovely place to relax and unwind if you have been travelling around Southern India. After 5 crazy weeks in Bangalore this was a wonderful place to chill out.
The staff are very friendly and more than helpful, rooms are large and clean. I would desribe them as rustic rather than luxurious but comfortable. If you have mobility problems don't book an upstairs room as the stairs are quite steep.
Food is served in a cafe style room and lots of people ate their meals on the outside tables. If you have booked the "package" deal have your breakfast and lunch at the hotel and then take yourself to the restaurants outside the resourt as they are cheap but lovely.
The Boomerang Bar on the beach is a lovely place to chill and the choice of food is excellent. The Boomerang Bar can be accessed by turning left out of the hotel, passed the small shops and then turn left and this takes you staright to the beach.
Colva beach is lovely if you like white sands, warm ocean and a few bars and restaurants. If you go to the beach about 7.30am you can see the local fisherman bringing in their catch of sardines which is very colourful.
Soul Vacation is not the place if you want something lively on an evening as most people go outside the hotel on an evening.
Soul vacation is lovely for chilling by the pool, having a massage, doing a bit of yoga, pottery or painting (all provided on site).
You can book a taxi to Palolem beach from the hotel which takes about an hour, the scenery is lovely and the beach is worth the visit.
There are lots of places outside the resort to buy souveniers and do haggle as you can get most things for a third cheaper than the original price.
The weather was wonderful and was about 35 degrees every day so drink lots of water and don't forget the malaria tablets."

"Well, We celebrated our 1st Marriage anniversary at Soul Vacation during 2 - 5 Feb 08. The hotel was very good as its nice to see everything in white. Very much peacefull indeed.
The hotel is close to colva beach and has nice courteus staff. The hotel room was pretty good. Nice and Spacious and definately worth 4 star.
Food in the hotel is great but they need to add more dishes suiting indian & vegeterian people. They have focused more on foreigners taste of food. But they also made a vegeterian dish that we explained to their chef and they made it for us.
The only thing I would ask the hotel management is to take care of mosquitos as there are lot many in the rooms.
Overall, I would definately recommend this hotel to everyone and will definately visit the hotel again.

More a 3-star-hotel than a 4-star-boutique-hotel
"We have stayed in the hotel for four days. First, we were disappointed about our room, which was one of the smallest in the hotel and with a dump smell and not very clean. After two days we could change the room to a bigger one, which was much brighter. (But also here - not worth 4-stars)
Everything in the resort is a little bit old and for my opinion it's rather a 2- or 3-star-hotel than a 4-star-boutique hotel. The good thing was the bathroom, which is nice. And it is near the beach and a short walk to the centre with lots of little shops.
Unfortunately, there were a lot of midges in the room. But I don't know if this is everywhere in Colva.
The staff was very friendly and we liked the location. For a beauty-treatment we recommend Neomi's (which is really nice and cheap) and for eating out, the family restaurant just at the corner (this was really the best Indian food we have had during our stay in India)."

Lovely hotel, shame about Colva
"By Indian standards this is a lovely hotel. It's billed as a 'boutique hotel' and it's certainly this.
It lacks some of the sophistication of other boutique hotels and is a little 'tired' in places, overall though it's a charming hotel, which i'd certainly not hesitate to recommend. If you're looking for a quiet, restful, but 'trendy' place to stay, it should hit the mark.
What let's this hotel down is Colva, it really is quite a dreadful place. The beach is average (and tends to be a bit littered) and in a week there we didn't find one decent restaurant (though hotel does do decent food) and is full of middle age Europeans.
Another 'minor' irritation about the hotel is the music which plays around the swimming pool, from 10 am to 11.30 pm - and sometimes later.
A few tips: if you're booking this hotel, do it through a travel agent, we went through Thomson and paid 80% of the price we'd have paid booking directly.
Request a room with a balcony and a pool view. Some of the rooms are round the back and overlook a rubbish filled field or a dusty road (I'd have been disappointed if we'd stayed in one of these rooms)."

Not as good as expected- wheres the soul?
"I have just returned from a trip to Soul Vacation, and to be honest I was surprised that this resort has gained the rating it has done..
First the positive elements about this resort: I found the general ambience of the resort to be relaxing. All the waiting staff around the restaurant and bar area are good- attentive and polite.. and the pool area is a really nice place to chill out (although the pool looked a little dirty).
The room we stayed in however wasn't up to the standard that I expected it would be for the price paid. It was grubby, smelt of damp and was particularly dark.. little touches like the second hand toiletries left in the bathroom, bulbs that needed replacing and dirty windows added to the effect. The location of the resort is also not that great, with an unattractive walk to the beach (which is the main attraction at Colva, as the town is dirty and unattractive), the food was not bad, but we found better quality at a cheaper price at most of the beach shack restaurants along the beach, with a better view!. This property is ok, but is simply marketed at too high a level in my opinion, without any of the attention to detail that the price tag and its 'boutique' marketing requires..
If I were to stay in Colva again (which I probably wouldn't- go down to Benaulim or Palolem in South Goa or Sinquerim, Candolim or Anjuna in North Goa), I would make sure that I booked somewhere directly on the beach as this is the main attraction here (there are numerous beach huts and small resorts along this coast at a much cheaper cost than this resort). Goa as a whole is a lovely place to visit, but for the price, you can do much better than the Soul Vacation."

Everything worked out excellent.
Worth four stars.
Food was delicious and coctails at the bar by funny Ashouk were perfect.

Boutique Chic Par Excellance
"A beautiful resort. Obviously created by a team of designers, Soul is a very chic place.
It was exactly what we were looking for after a few crazy weeks in Delhi and Punjab. No noise, no activities, just peace and tranquility.
It is small (only 28 rooms), service is good, personal attention is good, Ashok at the bar is great. The continental food was very good. Just don't order any Indian dishes, they're dissappointing. The cocktails were excellent and the pace was nice and slow. The lebanese restaurant was shut while we stayed there. This was quite dissappointing. If the hotel is open, everything should be open ... poor judgement by the management.
I suggest you eat your evening meals at the beach shacks where the prices are ridiculously cheap and the food is scrumptious. Nothing better than grilled prawns, a long island ice tea and a lovely seaside sunset.
No one was in a hurry, and we were more than happy to chill out and laze the days away at the pool side.
They play mellow buddha bar style music throughout the hotel and at the pool side as well, not too loud and a tasteful selection that fits the place perfectly.
The rooms were very tasteful and very clean. The decor is mostly white, but is still warm and cosy. You can also rent out DVD's to watch in your room if you wish.
I will definitely return. It is a smashing place."

"We stayed at Soul Vacation for the first 4 nights of our 2 week stay in Goa and enjoyed every minute! Colva itself isn't that great - compared to some beaches/ areas of Goa, but the hotel made our stay there quite special. It was tastefully and simply decorated throughout, with spacious clean rooms and incredibly helpful and polite staff. The food at the hotel was delicious and the pool was very peaceful and relaxing. There were yoga and dance activities etc there as well as jaquizzis in the well kept gardens. Will hopefully return asap to Goa and the Soul Vacation. I thoroughly recommend staying here and hope you have as fun a time as we did."

Loved the place.
"We have just returned from our vacation to Goa. The hotel was fantastic, superb place, nice and friendly staff and a good cook of course.
Initially, I was trying to book a hotel in North Goa or place like heritage village or Haathi Mahal but none of these places were available. While talking to Make My Trip agent, she mentioned about Soul Vacation. Since there were not many options available, I decided to go for it even though there was no review written.
When we reached the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to see a hotel painted in only one colour - white and were greeted by the friendly staff. We'd booked a superior room which is lowest category of the rooms. However, the superior room has 1 double bed + 2 single beds in the room attached so it's big enough for a family of a couple + 2 children.
Ours was the MAP plan so we decided to have dinner in the hotel atleast for the 1st night. I must tell you that the food consists of a wide variety of indian, chinese, continental cuisine and is amazing. It's probably one of the fewest hotels in Goa which has very good in-house food.
The only thing is the hotel doesn't have its own beach and the bathrooms are smaller. But it's very nice for relaxing, chilling out away from the crowd and having a good "soul" vacation."
