"This is a clean and friendly hotel with a small swimming pool tucked away from the crowd.Although in a nice position not far from the beach and with in easy access to the main street.Staff could not be more friendly and go out of their way to help rooms are simply furnished comfortable. My husband and I have traveled to this hotel on a number of occasions staying for three weeks at a time and will be back this year. Not a big hotel quiet and peaceful. There is a Bistro at this hotel and it serves some nice dishes roasted home made tomato soup fish dishes and may more worth a visit.Hotel is bed and break fast. Basic but Brilliant
"Stayed at the Sunset Beach in November, as this was my first trip to goa I was quite hesitent on what to expect when arriving. After the bustle at the airport it was nice to arrive and be given our room immediatley. The hotel staff were extremley freindly and helpfull, the rooms kept spotless by the ladies who clean. The pool was small but extremely pleasant on hot afternoons. I did find the trips to the beach a bit daunting and began to feel like I was running the gauntlet trying to get past the sellers, who although pleasant were a bit in your face. Unfortunatly due to some argument with authorities the shacks were not up until two days befor the end of our holiday and talking to veterine goa-goers it would seem that we have missed out on quite a bit. Intend on returning next year and would be more then happy to stay in the Sunset again."

Fantastic family run hotel
"This was our first time in this hotel but our second time to Goa. On arrival checked into hotel with no problems we were shown to our rooms which to our surprise were very big indeed, we had 2 balconies, airconditioning, fan and en suite bathroom.
The hotel overall was very clean. and well maintained. The staff at the hotel were excellent and they actually made our holiday, everything we asked for was done immediately and with a smile at all times.
Would I go again definately already booked for 2010 but this time for 3 weeks!!"

Basic but good.
"Have just stayed at Sunset Beach Hotel in Candolim. When we arrived we were given our rooms straight away which was nice. The rooms are basic but cleaned everyday and beds changed every day and towels as well. Even though the linen is changed I wouldnt say that they are white but they are washed. All staff are friendly and are willing to help. Breakfast is basic but can purchase more if needed for a small cost and all done fresh to order.
Bar open all day prices are reasonable."

A pleasure as always
"We have been to Goa 10 times now and due to go again in November, we have stayed at the Sunset Beach on 7 of these visits, and now find it like home from home. We always receive a fabulous welsome and the hotel continues to go from strength to strength. They have recently refurbished many of the rooms and they are palatial by Goan standards, me however I still prefer my usual room by the pool, curtains don't exactly meet but adds character. My recommendation to anyone visiting Goa for the first time is go with an open mind, If you want Luxury, pay for it and go to the south, take it for what it is. Goa is the most amazing place with the most amazing people & it's upsetting to read some of the reports that I have on here. I am a professional single 30 something and you can rest assured that you're stay at the Sunset Beach will be fabulous, Xavier & Mable will look after your every need and Surriat will guard you with Duckhams & Poppy (the dogs!) the boys will look after you at breakfast and serve you drinks, the rooms are clean and everyone is smiling and friendly, come on guys what more do you want.
See you guys in 3 weeks Mandy"

What a gem of a hotel
"I have just returned from a two week holiday staying at the Sunset Beach Hotel. We went out on the 16th March and returned on the 31st March. This was our first time to Goa and we shall return again. The weather forecast before we went was advising thunderstorms. We did have one afternoon of rain but it was a break from the heat if i'm honest. It rained twice during the night which was ok all the other days it was in the late 30's. The hotel is well run, very friendly, clean and quite. Great location just 5 min walk to the beach and only 2 mins to the main street with plenty of places to eat. We ate out every night and with drinks and enough food it will cost around 1100 to 1500 rupees for four people (78 rupess to the £). Taxis cheap but as others have said agree a price before you get in. All the taxi drivers are helpful and if you want a nice beach like Morjim they will take you and will stay there and bring you back all for 800 rupees. With regards trips with your tour operators the best advice I can give you is don't book with them but use a taxi. One trip we were looking at was the elephant jungle which through the tour operator was £93.00 each. We found a brilliant taxi driver who picked us up at 10:00am took us to the elephant jungle where you have an elephant ride, wash them and then have an elephant shower. Well worth doing. We also went to the tropical spice gardens. On the way back stopped at a cashew nut factory plus 4 temples and the cost of the hire of the taxis plus entrance fees was just short of £20 each. We arrived back aound 6pm. Great value. I promised the taxi driver I would mention his name. You will work out once there that all the taxi drivers give them selves english names. The driver we had goes under the name ' Charlie' he drives a maroon taxi with the number plate ending with the numbers 5580 and the words ' Jolly Boy ' along the vehicle. Look him up when over there he will look after you. You can find him on the main street from the hotel near Johns boat trips shop.
Any questions regarding the hotel, resort or anything send me an e-mail."

A Great Little Hotel
"We have just returned from our fourth trip to Goa and our third stay at the Sunset. As our last visit was four years ago, we were delighted to find the same familiar faces from our previous visits. We like the Sunset because it offers clean, simple accommodation in a peaceful location and because it has a high percentage of guests who visit year after year, we always bump into someone we've met here before (usually Bill and Audrey as well as many other regulars !! ).
Being small the hotel has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and the staff are really friendly and can't do enough to help....Goans are extremely polite and helpful and can put we ill-mannered westerners to shame.
The hotel has a small bar which serves reasonable quality food and the usual variety of drinks....we find it the ideal place to watch the sunset with a vodka and tonic or two !! There is no entertainment at the hotel but the bustle of Candolim's bars and restaurants are only a couple of minutes walk away, as is the gorgeous beach. If the heat of the beach should get a bit much, then beat a hasty retreat to the Sunset's pool which is kept lovely and cool as it's shaded by two huge mango trees (do beware of falling mangoes as they drop with a plop !!) The pool never gets crowded and we frequently had it to ourselves ; as our terrace opened onto the pool area it was like having a private pool......sheer bliss !!
Despite the odd power-cut (common in Goa so bring a torch ) a spot of 'Dehli Belly' and a few dozen mozzie bites we have always thoroughly enjoyed our stays here. Sure enough the fridge and air- con are old and do rattle a bit but hey, you're in Goa so don't expect luxury, but do expect a warm welcome from the lovely staff at this quaint little hotel. We love it here and will certainly be back !!"

It was fab!
This was by far the best place we stayed in on our travels in goa. The staff were exceptional even putting my husband on the back of the manager's motorbike to take him to the local doctor. Nothing was too much trouble. Always a friendly face. It was like leaving family at the end of our stay."
