worst hotel in goa
"what a bad experience one of the worst hotels in goa we have been to goa five times we are aware what budget hotels are like to compare this hotel with i would say it as no star rating at all THIS HOTEL is the pits the bedrooms ,showers are dirty the toilets are a disgrace the pool area is dirty got a ear infection from the pool rubbish left around ants and birds infesting the place they are supposed to clean your room? they change the bed thats it.You cant eat the breakfast unless you are not worried about breaking your teeth on the rock hard stale bread and drink the cold coffee. The manager is one of the worst ignorant person i have ever meet avoid this hotel unless you want your holiday ruined"

"Unfortunately this well rated hotel has undergone a change of management in the past month and the bar/dining area has been renamed as Sebastiano's Tinto (Tinto being Goan for meeting place)and unfortunately all signs naming the hotel as Don Hill have disappeared.
The new manager told us that he was not interested in the winter tourists and was concentrating on developing the out of season trade.
Shortly after arrival we decided to upgrade the room to one with air conditioning - the original room - 210 - being next to the kitchen cooking extractor duct and too hot for comfort.
No problem with changing - £80 for the fortnight including fridge & safety deposit box but as we had not changed any currency at that point we agreed to pay next morning. However every time we passed reception and twice on the stairs to our room we were harassed for the money. Next morning we changed some currency and paid the charges - we weren't really bothered as it was a large sum so we could understand their anxiety.
A couple of days later we bought 4 bottles of water at the bar - 120 rupees - and signed for it as they could not change a 1000 Rupee note. 10 minutes later they asked if we could pay the 120 Rupees but as they still had no change at the bar we went to our room. Next morning at breakfast they chased us for the money (nearly £1.50) and when we handed in the room key.
Naturally we paid as soon as we had change at lunchtime but we were made to feel like criminals!
My partner only had breakfast about 5 times during the fortnight - preferring to sleep in the mornings. Unfortunately the plan flight was delayed by 5 hours so we did not leave the hotel until 9:00 am rather than 4:00 am as intended. We decided to have breakfast before leaving but were surprised to be told when breakfast arrive that we would have to pay, Since breakfast comprised a cup of coffee and a piece of bread ane we had only had about half the breakfasts that we were entitled to, this was the final icing on the cake!
The hotel itself is good, rooms are clean and it is ideally situated for beach access. We have been to Goa about a dozen times but this was the only time when we were made to feel uncomfortable.
Needless to say we will never return to the Don Hill! "

"what can i say.....for a first time visitor to Goa, I was gobsmacked! What a place!
took me a few days to get used to walking down the streets next to elephants and the power cuts, but WOW!
The Don Hill...For a budget hotel, I can only say that in this hotel, you will not feel more welcome anywhere!
The staff are pleasant, funny, and will do their best to serve you, often with ever so slight deviations to the bar timings...eh hem.
The hotel its self is basic, but spotless! and if you cant be bothered getting up till mid afternoon, then you will probably find the lads cleaning sat outside waiting for you to vacate your room, rather than them waking you to clean.
The food and drink is first class, and the only gripe I could give is the pool area! Its in the shade most of the day which can be a saviour at 90+ heat, but its small and there is NO air! very stuffy and not a place you could sit for long.
On the hole, I would recommend the Don Hill, and will most certainly be returning.
Give it a try!"

"The Don Hill hotel is excellent value, this is the third time I have been to North Goa, and stayed in a budget hotel, the Don Hill was far better than the previous two I have stayed in.
I had a large room with a balcony, fan, rather than air con, room cleaned every day, fresh towels every two days, no bugs.
Pool area clean and secluded. Food and staff excellent.
Hotel is situated at the end of Candolim beach so not as manic as Calangute or Baga. Itâs a five minute walk to the beach."

"Donhill resort excellent location not as busy as Calungute staff very helpful. Rooms basic but very clean food excellent. Small shop next door which you can buy most things needed while on holiday.
There are many restaurants, one of our favourites was the Himalayan they serve excellent food also Viva Goa is a good place to eat and very cheap. This was our first time at Donhill we where so impressed with the service we received that we will be staying there again in October. Not bad for a 2 star accommodation"
