Definitely not for a group of young friends
"We were a group of six friends looking to have fun over the weekend. This place wasnt the best fit for us. It's run by an elderly couple and their son. The rooms are small and extremely basic. Though we do not have any complaints on that front. It's probably better suited for someone out on a quiet and peaceful vacation with family."

"the location of the hotel was not so nice. room service was also not so good since it runs by a family food was too expensive as per the quality.......................... they don't clean the room every day............ change the bed sheets after every 3 days........ overall not good for family or with partner......... for solo it is still better."

"This place is so close to the beach, yet it is very quite. It is typically family run and good food. Mr.Hillary, owns the place. He is a very honest guy and would help you when you need. There is a wonderful shack where you can sit next to the beach, it is called Bisto. They serve wonderful breakfast and lunch. Just sit there enjoy the sun. Gabriel is very basic as far as the arrangements are concerned. The AC room on the ground floor was just for Rs.700/-. They wound provide you laundry service as well, but please carry your own iron, they would wash it, but not press it for you!!!!."

very bad time
"everything was fine until our room was broken into while we weresleeping( they have bars on windows but thieves cut mosquito net and used hooks). We told Mr Gabriel what happend and he didnt believe us and accused us of lyeing. We then went down stairs to call the police and Mr Gabriel's wife would not let us call the police and called us lyers to our faces. this was very distressing, we eventually went to police station and filled out report. The police showed Mr Gabriel how the thieves had got passed the window but he did not believe them. as soon as we got back from polece station Mr Gabriels son came up to make us pay in advance. Noone apologised and we were left felling very angry about our stay. Do not stay there. They are not nice people"

"Gabriel's guesthouse has two great advantages: superb location, and fantastic food (try the crab - delicious, enormous portions). The rooms are somewhat basic, but clean. I found that a celing fan was enough for cooling, and didn't try the a/c - perhaps it might be needed in more humid months. The property is located at the southern end of Calangute, about 200 yards/meters from the beach and 100 yards from the main road. This section of the beach is quiet, clean and sparsely populated (even in January, which is high season). The guides describe the "rows of sunbeds and parasols", but after walking between Sinquerim and Baga I found that the actual bodies occupying them are a lot less... Don Gabriel is kind and helpful, and all the family very charming. You do have to ask for them to clean the room (odd, but I found the same issue in other guest houses elsewhere in India, but not in hotels). there are mosquito screens on the windows, although at this time of the year I really didn't notice many. Taxis available right by the door, or auto-rickshaws on the main road. Lots of shops, mini-markets and a good internet cafe (Baskin Robbins ice cream fronts it) nearby."
