"The Hotel arranged a taxi pick-up for us and he was right there as we exited arrivals. Good start. On arriving in Calangute, we were a bit worried when the driver turned off down the side alley next to the Bombay Bazaar on the Candolim road as we had never been down there before. It looked a bit grim as there had been a lot of rain and there were very large puddles in the windy road to the Hotel. On arrival the taxi charged only 650 rs and the receptionist was so very friendy. She showed us two rooms and gave us the choice. We obviously chose the larger room with a double and a single bed. It was also in a nice position above the bar and pool. Although basic, it was all we needed. Air-con, large shower room, TV, and most importantly, clean.
We also found that within a 5 minutewalk, a left turn outside the hotel took you past the Colonia De Braganza and on to the main Beach road by the 'Red Lion' bar. It was in an excellent position halfway up/down the road.
The hotel staff were all lovely and friendly, but apart from the receptionist, and Dev the manager, their English was very limited. But heyho so is my Hindi.
The receptionist was particularly helpful. She arranged scooter hire the day we arrived for only 125 per day. She googled the address for me of the hotel in Benaulim we were going to for two nights the second week, and printed off the details for our taxi driver.
Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel dog ET, was a charmer too. Watching him and his friend from the house next door, play together whilst having our first cup of coffee on our balcony every morning was a joy.
Safety boxes are in reception, but you need your own padlocks. There is a small selection of books in a cabinet there too.
Breakfast was limited to either cornflakes or toast and jam (not both!), no fruit or juice, just tea or coffee. But you could have ordered more from the menu and paid extra.
All in all, it was a good, comfortable little place which perhaps doesn't reach it's full potential. It has a small pool with a few beds around it, but we never used them.
There are some good deals to be had and can be very cheap if you can book late. We couldn't however due to work dates being inflexible, therefore paid more than most there did. This wasn't down to the hotel though, but to the tour operators. The hotel had set rates for B&B, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. In fact definately would. For people who go on holiday to hang out around their hotel, it probably would not be appropriate, but for us it ticked all the boxes.
We often stay in much higher class hotels, but to be honest are not in them long enough to appreciate their superior facilities, so why bother?
If we go next year, it will be Scheduled flights not charter, and we would try to stay at this hotel for at least part of the time."

The best place in Calangute- we will come back!
"At first we wanted to spend only 4 nights in Castle House but we liked the place so much we stayed for 10 nights! Very friendly and caring staff, nice rooms, cleaned perfectly every day. The best was the pool - heaven on earth. If we ever come back to Calangute we will surely come back if only just to say hallo! Jana and Misa Czech Republic (in Europe next to Germany)"

CASTLE HOUSE IS WELL AND TRUELY THE GREATEST HOTEL IN THE WHOLE OF GOA
""CASTLE HOUSE" is just great... Its a new build based in the heart of calangute. The service given to you whilst being a resident of the hotel is amazing. The staff make your stay an absolute pleasure, What ever needs you have are solved by the friendly staff. They are always happy and too pleased to help wether it be day or night. The hotel has average sized rooms which are kept at a highly clean standard at all times. The rooms are lovely and bright with great decor. All rooms have an on- suite shower room and toilet. The location of this hotel could not be better it is situated at the centre of Calangute. The good thing about this hotel is its not situated on a main road its literally just behind the road that leads to the high street, so all the noise and commotion is left behind when you want to relax. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the beach and 30 seconds into the main highstreet. If you need some advice on where to go or need transport the staff are more than happy to help you with either or both. Trips can be arranged from the hotel. Last but not least the owner of Castle house is just absolutely the best guy ever and he makes your stay in Goa the greatest you can get it......."

the staff are the only good points
"when i arrived at the hotel i just wanted to turn around and get out of there. the pool is tiny, there are only enough room for 7 sun beds around the pool. the rooms are not very clean and poor quality, tables around the pool never had the table clothes cleaned once when i was there. the only possitive comment i can make about the hotel was the staff they where very helpful and always happy."

Sick, filthy, yucky & cheap culture
"we booked the rooms of this place by seeing it on net. On arriving there, our faces fell..and as we checked inside the room we had to pick our luggage & literally ran out of the ugly place.
1.Naked foreigners in the swimmimg pool as if they were drugged
2.Stinking smelly rooms,
3. Ugly unclean corridors & stairs
4. Naked provoking pictures in the room as if its a brothel
5. Cockroachs & dogs running around in the hotel
6. No service or taste even in the tea or water
DO NOT GO HERE!!"

This is a hidden gem of a hotel
"This is a fab little hotel just tucked behind main Calangute road, just far enough for some peace and quiet and it's about a 10min walk to the beach. The staff are exellent and if you need anything just ask Dev the manager and he will be happy to help. Rooms were very clean and cleaned daily no charge for the mini fridge or sky tv in the room. Air con free and very good plus there is a fan in the room. Beds are a little hard....but clean. Nice small pool and bar plus free pool table. Prices are cheap in the hotel compaired to some.....and the food is good. Breakfast is a bit boring tea, coffee and toast every day but prices are cheap so it won't break the bank to order extra's. Overall I have been to Goa four times and this has been the best accomadation by far you will not be disapointed. We will be booking this hotel again....Will add some pics at a later date...."
