Gorgeous Goa and its great resort
"We went Goa on Diwali and had an awesome time there. The Sterling resort welcomed us with a refreshing welcoming drink and the staff at the reception was courteous and humble. But somehow Resort has become old and rooms need renovation. We got the apartment which had kitchenette in it and enjoyed every bit of our stay there but the rooms should be made new and of better look.Apart from that the services of the staff were great. The restaurant is basically good for non vegetarians but as there are many grocery shops in the resort itself so we could easily buy basic items and cook on our own.The best part of this resort was its swimming pool.We had a great fun in the swimming pool. The resort needs renovation again but in totality very good services and a nice place to stay."

Cheap, completely worth it.
"This hotel worked out to be really cheap for us since one of our friends is an RCI member. We were 6 of us in a 2 bedroom apartment. We landed up paying only Rs.1500 per head for the whole week, hence it was worth it. The rooms for the price were really good. One was wit an attached bathroom. The size of the room was really impressive. The best part of the hotel was the mini mart (supermarket) it had. It stored all the necessities at MRP. Other facilities were table tennis, swimming pool, pool, chess, free wifi in the lobby, etc The mexican restaurant was really sad. It was expensive and the food was bad. Overall a really good experiece if your not spending too much time in your room."

What a great place to be at
"Nestled on a hillside overlooking Lazy River, it´s the perfect place to stay if you want the choice between tranquility and bustling nightlife. The rooms are charming and spacious and the staff really makes you feel special. Loved the mix of Mexican and Indian food in the restaurant and had the best ever breakfast bacon in the world. You should not miss the Jazz night on Friday nights. Really good musicians and lovely atmoshpere."

Not four star but not all bad
"I stayed a week in February 2010 with my mum and husband. We stayed in a two bedroom appartment, through Club La Costa, and I was quite worried about the standard having read all the reviews here. However after being I can see merit in all the comments. Such reviews are very subjective so I hope the following helps: CLEANLINESS It is clean and I saw cleaners moving beds, fridges etc to clean behind. However it is quite run down and tiles, floors, furniture can seem dirty due to old and worn state. The pools are not well looked after but I think this may be as the majority of guests seemed to be Indian and do not use the pool - not that this is an excuse. We saw a member of staff hanging around a lot but not empting ashtays for days or taking all the leaves out, but he was not a fair representation of the staff. LOCATION The general location was great - close to many towns, restuarants, trips and the two main night markets but not in the middle of a town - best of both worlds for us. However the whole hotel is build on a very steep slope and we were as far up as you could get. So after being drooped at the gate we had to tramp up a hill and then up three flights of stairs! Even if this hotel was modernised that aspect would always make it feel less luxurious! ROOMS As I said it is in need of a major upgrade, especially the bathrooms. We had 2 bedrooms, 2 showerrooms, living/kitchen area and balcony. Good satalite TV. Fine but shabby. SERVICE Appart from the pool guy all the staff were amazing and lovely. I think they acknowledged the place was shabby as when we told them our next hotel they all said it was much nicer - but they never bad mouthed the hotel. All were super helpful and friendly. VALUE We went with Club la Costa and I do not think it was worth the points we were charged. The food price was probabally a bit more than I think it should have been for the quality - we ate in much better places for the same and less. Room service was quick and good but not cheap. The Salon was basic and fine but cost about the same as here. Point to note bring top and base coat as they do not use this in manicaures or pedicures. SLEEP QUALITY Beds were fine, aircon and fans were also good but there were some scary and loud noises at night! As this is in the country many nights we were worken by what sounded like scary animal fights! OTHER There are two pools and neither is great. The bottom one is at reception so not very peaceful and the other is build on wooden decking which is very old and we spotted nails sticking out, splinters and quite big gaps. Also there is a steady stream of tours passing through as they try to sell timeshare. In summary - this is not luxury but it is far from squalor either. I think if you can get this for a good price and none of negative things I mentioned would put you off then go for it. I would recommend it but only after explaining all the above. I would only stay again if is was very cheap and I could get a room nearer reception/the gate."

"Staff: I had read the reviews that the hotel staff are not trained, not helpful to Indian guests, however, i thought things might have changed. But, to my dismay, i find that things are just the same. The hotel staff are not at all trained; this you can realize the moment you step in. They are not at all courteous to Indian customers, because you can see that the foreign tourists are given a detailed information about the resort & the places nearby, which you are not. Rooms: I had studio apartment (air-con). It was on the 3rd floor, no elevators. The room had a balcony and had a good view - overlooking the river and the fields across the river. The rooms were just ok; clean but not very luxurious as such. If you sat on the bed, it make a creaking sound. Restaurant: The restaurant was decent. Desserts were very good (goan bibinca cake, apple burrito). It has live music on some days. Charges: I had book the resort through RCI. But still, i had to pay Rs.2000 for a week's stay as the resort's utility charges. Also, just for u guys to know, it charges 3% if you pay by credit/debit card. Connectivity: Baga Beach is like 5 mins from the resort (on bike); Calangute beach is also not that far. Fort Aguada would be around 20-25 mins. Tito's is around 10-15 mins."

OK, but not memorable.
"Stayed for two weeks with wife and two friends. We had an E.Mail saying the air conditioned taxi from the airport would be 1000Rps but it was 1200 and had been for many months. It also didn't have air con so we refused it and they eventually changed it for one that had. Hotel was not the usual standard we had come to expect but the staff were very friendly. All three air con units in the room worked but one of the bedroom doors could not be closed as it did not fit in the frame, cupboard doors in the kitchen handles missing. There was no washing up cloth and we had to wash the balcony furniture before we could sit on it. We also asked if the air con grills could be cleaned as they were covered in dust and this was done promptly. The rooms were large but very dated however our six berth had two bathrooms. Our room, No30 was up three double flights of stairs with no lift. Not good if you have a heart problem or asthma. Despite the description of the hotel, the beach is a good twenty minute walk away. Having said that, we had a good time and can thoroughly recommend Nicks restaurant up the road, and all the people we met were very friendly. One slightly worrying development was a disco/nightclub being built next door which on the first night was rather noisy at 3am when everyone turned out to go home. The hotel was trying to get letters of complaint together to get it closed. Overall lovely weather and people but hotel badly needs updating."

Tourism Ministry must raid their hotel
"As soon as u reach there and enter the resort it seems u are entering a garage not a hotel ..worst property & sales people will try to fool u by almost forcing u to take their membership which is just a waste, the sales executive of the company will take you to their presentation hall and "explain" the package to you. he will lure you by giving false promises & they are doing it in such a large number that when u will see it with your eyes u may get surprised that they are more intrested in fooling people all day rather than making people comfortable..........Strong marketing tactics by sales team which makes unrealistic promises to un-suspecting customers and tempts them to sign up on the spot, leaving such members at the mercy of their waste membership , when they realize that ground reality is totally different than the picture created by sales staff....... they have a restaurant which is just equal to size of double bed room and they say its 5 star property , u will laugh when u will reach there in their restaurant.........when u will see the recreation area it looks as if they not maintained it for years ......i can say worst hotel near BAGA area"

What a fantastic place
"Our first reaction to the hotel was that it was a little "Lived in", and the facilities were basic. But don't let that put anyone off - once we got used to the fact that we were not in some commercial westernised resort, we realised that it was comfortable and provided everything we needed! We spent all day and every evening on the beach, so a good shower, clean bed, and especially air conditioning, was really all we needed. Everywhere is so cheap it really is not worth using the kitchen. Everyone we met was very friendly and welcoming. The best recommendation we can make is that we have booked to back again!"

Friendly Staff. No Elevators!!!
"I am a member of RCI and wanted a good resort in North Goa. This is a RCI resort with a silver crown rating for 2 consequtive Silver Crown ratings. That is the reason I decided to opt for this resort. The Pros first - The staff is friendly - The house keeping does an efficient job and there was not reason for complaints. - A number of activity options available available for the entire family in the resort. There is a gym, spa, a couple of swimming pools. In addition to this there are a number of games that are available (Carrom, Table Tennis, Pool) - There was a snake show arranged in the evening which was very educative - The utility store is well stocked and we never felt the need to leave the resort for any of the groceries. (Bread, Magazine, Swimming Trunks, etc. it has it all ) The Cons - There are no beach views from the resort. It is at least 2 kms from the beach - There are no elevators in the resort. Our room (#30) was on the third floor. This made going to the room and coming down a bit tiresome for the elders in the family. - The restaurant in the resort was a bit limited in terms of vegetarian dishes. - The travel desk was unable to arrange a big vehicle for us and it was left to us to make the arrangements."

"Nice place, good location. Big rooms with good AC tv and apartment facilities. Lousy food, useless reception. Lost money from the locker even though it had 2 keys one with us and one with them. The complaint went unanswered, the reply was YOU MUST HAVE SPENT IT LAST NIGHT. BTW I dont drink. Untrained staff and the time share guys really hasle you. Otherwise decent place to stay but take care of your cash, their lockers are not safe."
