Best Hotel experience i have ever had
"Quite simply the best hotel my wife and I have stayed in. We stayed for 9 nights and we simply didn't want to leave. Our hotel rooms (our stay was split in two) were extremely comfortable, spacious, well equipped with breath taking views. The hotel common areas are simply stunning with beautiful furniture to take in the views. The dinning is excellent and with extremely helpful and lovely local staff. We eat there every night and we had our best meals in India. The location is remote, but with access to the Hotel Boat at your disposal the beach and local amenities are easterly reached in minutes. In fact the location is perfect to take in the water buffalo swimming across the river everyday to graze on the island opposite. We saw monkeys and lots of beautiful animals from the luxury of our leather armchairs sipping a perfectly prepared G&Tâs. If youâre in north Goa this is the only place to stay. Best Hotel room you will ever stay in, beautiful location in a perfectly unspoilt north Goa river, fantastic staff, friendly and welcoming etcâ¦â¦"

Bliss in India
"My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Colvale for one week in early February - it was our first trip to India. We had almost booked a beach shack on Ashwen Beach but we decided we wanted to stay away from the hustle and bustle of beach life and opt for peace, tranquility and a little luxury. We arrived exhausted from a busy work schedule, a long over night flight and frozen from a bitter winter in the UK. We were greeted warmly by James, the hotel manager, and a refreshing glass of ice cold fresh lime soda. Immediately, all the stresses from work, the long flight and the ice cold UK weather melted away from us. By the end of our stay, we felt refreshed, our skin glowed (the White Clay facial and body scrub in the spa helped!) and much revived. We were bewitched, charmed, captured by Casa Colvale's beauty, gentleness and exquisteness. The hotel staff were wonderful discreet, patient and utterly delightful. We ate in every evening and had the best and most memorable meals we have ever had. As we were in India for the first time, we felt we had to take a look around the area. We spent a couple of days at Ashwen Beach - a lovely, clean and oh so chic and cool beach (ask to be dropped off at La Plage restaurant), visited Panjim (Bombay Store on Rue St Sebastian and Fab India are unmissable for shopping) and Arpora for the wonderful Saturday Night Market. All taxis and drivers as recommended by James were spot on. We also took the Sunset Cruise in the hotel's speedboat - romantic, breathtaking and exhilirating! Days at Casa Colvale were spent reading in the many sunny and shaded spots on the terraces and pools, fishing off the jetty, watching in awe water buffalo crossing the river, and herons and kingfishers skimming along the river and black kites and eagles flying above us. I marked the cleanliness at 4 but only because I am a perfectionist and I feel nothing is ever 5/5! We left our hearts at Casa Colvale and will be returning next year."

Time of the Tide
"I almost do not want to write this review by fear that others will learn of it's beauty and splendor. James does a fantastic job of orientating your needs with the what he can provide. Frankly, we could not have asked for anything more. My dear friend fly all of the way from New York to visit me in India, so I was very pleased that she was so well cared for on her 24th birthday. Originally, we were meant to stay only one night while we passed through to another beach side location. Thinking of Goa, I had envisioned showing my friend the beaches of Arambol. Thank goodness we are as spontaneous as we are because we ended up staying through our entire vacation at Casa Colvale. What a treat! I recommend the crabs and some Sula Brut in the top level pool at sunset to wash away all of those work/life related stresses. This place is not a hotel in the typical sense, as the houses have communal sitting areas and there was always an opportunity for privacy at one of the pools. This is a great spot for friends and couples. I was glad to have no children, noise, people or other stress around. I will be returning and could not endorse this place any higher."

"Having just returned from our stay at Casa Colvale, we are missing the place already. It's spectacular views, warm yet discreet service and seriously good food make this by far our favourite tropical hotel. The tastefully designed villas are beautifully furnished and have so many wonderful spots to relax and gaze at the nature and wildlife in front of you. The staff are so attentive and nothing is too much trouble. the candlelit dinners on the riverside deck were memorable as was chef Brandon's red snapper. The speedboat trip to the beach was stunning, but we really didn't feel like moving from the hotel much, it was so peaceful and relaxing. The location is perfect, far enough away from the hectic crowds, but close enough to all the restaurants and markets that you don't feel too isolated. I would recommend this place to anyone, but selfishly, i hope it doesn't get too well known and lose its exclusive feel, as we definitely plan to return! ""

I am not sure
"I find it difficult to reconcile our 6 night stay with the comments which have gone before. We agree regarding the hotel outlook and the staff but it is miles from anywhere and to go to a beach and back was a minimum of £10. Can't agree re storeage and though the room was OK there is no hot water to the handbasins."

Outstanding Boutique Hotel
"We stayed for 5 nights at Casa Colvale this December. James and the rest of the staff are fantastic and extremely helpful. They suggest things to do each day and are more than happy to help with any requests. The food at the restauarnt is also fantastic... Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday."

"brilliant boutique hotel in the middle of the goan countryside. wake up in the morning to an breath taking view of the river and surrounding you everywhere is nature. The place is like nowhere in India that i have seen. The staff are really informal and will cook you items not on the menu. You dine at the side of a river and with only a handful of rooms in the hotel, you treated on a first name basis. The rooms are fantastic, we were in a small deluxe, which was certainly not small! Just beware of mosquitoes in the evening and cover up. Would recommend hiring a scooter to see the sourroudning villages but if its relaxation you are looking for...book it now!"

Fantastic peaceful escape
"We stayed as part of a two week tour of Goa. This was by far the best place we stayed, and left us wondering why anybody would opt for one of the expensive resort alternatives given the choice. The two villas cascading down the hill to the river are divided into a series of intimate spaces, eclectically furnished. It feels like the home of a stylish local rather than a hotel. Our room was huge, but we spent much of our time in communal living areas and terraces which, despite the place being busy, we had practically to ourselves. Food is served right on the river and service is informal and personal, with great touches like staff not worrying about you signing the bill for every meal there and then. We took a car one day to see Anjuna and some of the other nearby beaches, but we'd say this is a place meant for staying in, relaxing and enjoying the tranquility."

"Spent six tranquil nights here, after a hectic Golden Triangle tour. The resort is truly boutique and in a beautiful location. The rooms are lovely with top quality furniture and fittings, plenty of storage and adequate lighting. The only gripe I had was the shower leaked over the bath creating a very wet floor but this was minor. James and his team create a âhouse partyâ atmosphere with an eclectic mix of guests. It is a very relaxed environment enabling you to do as much or as little as you want. Although it is in a remote location it is very easily accessible to pleasant beaches and other areas via taxi, although when James takes imminent delivery of his speedboat I am sure he will be able to ferry you to a few places. The onsite restaurant has wonderful food, which you arrange with the Stewards/Chef on a daily basis. This ensures top quality and also enables you to have âoff menuâ choices should you wish although the menu is fairly extensive. A special mention must go to Rana the Restaurant Steward for his lovely demeanour. A thoroughly enjoyable relaxing stay and I will definitely stay if I am in Goa in the future."

"If you are considering a visit to Goa, this has to be the very best place to stay. We were three well travelled couples looking for a combination of tranquil location, fantastic food, unobtrusive service and spotless facilities. We found it all at Casa Colvale. We felt as though it was our own serviced villa. The ambiance was relaxed, the staff were just so helpful and friendly.James and his team really have got everything off to a fine art! The furnishings were unique and stylish. The location was simply beautiful. The swimming pools were lovely with views to die for. From the moment we arrived until we left everything was perfect. Breakfast was a simple combination of fruits, breads, eggs etc all cooked and presented to perfection. We ordered dinner during the day which was freshly prepared. We had grilled fish, curries, salads, all absolutely delicious. Distance from the beach areas and restaurants was not an issue. We had a driver who would take us to the restaurants and wait for us until we were ready to come back.James recommended some fantastic restaurants and was more than willing to share his local knowledge. To top it all, it was all really great value."

Stunning location, relaxed atmosphere, great service & amazing food
"We stayed for a week and highly recommend this place. The scenery is breathtaking, it is ideal for those wanting to relax and the on-site spa for massages is an added bonus. The delicious food from an extensive menu combined with service which is friendly and attentive without being intrusive is such a winner. We ventured out too so know the beaches and local area have a lot to offer. The team here really do go the extra mile to ensure your stay is exceptional."

"My husband and I stayed at Casa Colvale for 5 nights as part of a two week holiday to Mumbai and Goa. After the fascinating chaos of Mumbai this served as the perfect tonic for us to relax and be pampered. The two pools are utterly stunning and with monkeys jumping from tree to tree above you it's hard to believe it's real. The food and champagne were exceptional and the company of James (the host) and his family was a rare treat. We were made to feel completely at home and on reflection from a cold and windy Edinburgh this was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Value for money was superb and we would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a romantic hideaway in paradise."
