Exceptionally good rooms - a bit far from beach!
"Pros: Exceptionally clean and new rooms, nice swimming pool and well designed resort
Cons: Distance from beach, not so good restaurant, bad breakfast, very expensive conveyance.
We stayed here for 2 days last week. The room was new, exceptionally clean and well designed - with very good A/C and nice TV - although we didn't find any Tamil or Malayalam channels. It overlooked a gorgeous [to borrow another reviewer's word] pool.
It is very very good value for money and in fact we even thought of canceling our stay at Lamour for next 2 days and only continued on because of the distance from beach.
That's the main negative - beach is a good 20 minutes and you need to rent a bike to go to the beach to feel safe returning around 7 pm [But to be fair, bike is required anyway in South goa to go to Colva and Varca beaches from Benaulim]. Also the beach is not very clean compared to the main Benaulim beach.
Bike is more expensive compared to main Benaulim beach [and way more compared to north goa] here. But the option of taxi is unthinkable as they charge a minimum of 300 rs. to go anywhere - Madgaon, Colva [locations with in 5-6 kms] etc. They have an union and don't allow outside taxis to come and pick up. We got the taxi for half the amount from main Benaulim beach.
When we went last week, there were hardly 3 rooms of people which was a bit boring, but that's because it was off season, but the positive there was we could get pool exclusively for our use!
As for breakfast, it was more of an excuse on the first day, that we actually laughed, although it improved the next day. The restaurant is a big disappointment - expensive and we didn't like the food either - some very odd masala - one item was tasting bitter another a bit sweet. But there are one or two restaurants outside - so not a big problem for short stay at least.
Overall the stay was very relaxing due to the quality of the room and nice pool. Five star room for decent price!"

A pleasure to stay, definitely worth a return
"We were in Goa two weeks ago, during a 3 state trip through India. We turned up at Joecons with a party of 7 with no reservations. We had reservations at another hotel but were so dismayed with the appalling conditions that we checked out after 1 night.
Joecons was our first port of call based on the reviews from TripAdvisor and Expedia, the staff were welcoming and immediately offered us half price on 3 rooms and no charge for the extra person. It is off-season but we didnt expect such a generous offer, particularly compared to our previous hotel.
The offer and venue were too good to turn down so we made ourselves at home and what a home! The hotel is impressively furnished and always clean, the staff cannot do enough for you and very charming.
Rooms/Bathroom - kept to a high standard and thoroughly cleaned/tidied up everyday, great balcony views
Breakfast - Not bad, fresh omelettes also Indian/Goan cuisine and staples available
Pool - Perfect! Could not be better
Restaurant - Caters for everybody, if its not on the menu then the staff will make arrangements. Extremely well priced dishes particularly as it is quite renowned for its cuisine, we even met the chefs to thank them. People travel from all around Goa to eat here, im not suprised in the least.
Bar - Extremely cheap drinks, but on par with other Goan venues. Again, if its not on the menu then the staff will make arranegements. Beer is roughly 40p a pint, cocktails are around £1.20
Beach - A 10min walk, but it is scenic and well worth it when you get there
Location - the only issue, you will need to hire a scooter or arrange a taxi to see another part of Benaulim or Goa
Staff - think I have praised them enough but cant speak highly enough of them
Definitely worth a return , I may even book my ticket for next year!"

good rooms and staff does not make a good hotel
"i was attending a wedding in Taj Exotica and was looking in Trip Advisor for a hotel nearby since TAJ was fully booked. So I chose Joecons since it was rated as the second best. I have no complaint about Joecons... but rate it as second to TAJ... it is an overstatement.
I booked directly and had no problems. I was picked up at the airport. The young staff was very friendly The room was spacious and well furnished including the bath room. However I felt a bit lonely since there was hardly anybody around. They told me it is off season and hence lack of crowd.
Since I was staying only for one night I did not use the swimming pool which looked inviting. The beach is a little away- 10 minutes walk I am told.
I had a quick lunch which was tasty. I am told that the Joecons restaurant is well known in the area for its tasty food.
The breakfast was basic.
One serious problem I had was the cell phone connectivity.. this may be due to the service provider I have... but the reception in Taj was excellent.
Whether I will stay again? I would look around."

A phenominal way to take a break from busy India!
"This hotel IS close to the beach but it's not ON the beach. It's about a 10-20 minute walk.
I would book online through the links available on the TripAdvisor website. You will get a better deal than showing up. We were unable to book online and showed up at the desk. Though the hotel was next to empty (we went in low-season) we were told a price almost twice what we saw online. Eventually, the staff spoke to management and they gave us a better price. Still: book online!
There is security at the front & back gates. There are safes in the room. It's a very safe hotel.
The room was exceptionally clean. Western bathroom with large, tiled showers and modern decor. Satellite flatscreen television with mainly English and Indian channels, but also some German and Russian. The patios/balconies look out over the courtyard and gorgeous pool. There is a stocked ensuite fridge with drinks at reasonable prices. Great A/C.
Included breakfast in the morning was buffet style. A mix of Indian and Western foods. Fresh juices, tea, and coffee. BUT get there early because the food was not re-filled very well and if you arrived later the choice for food was very slim.
The outdoor pool is really gorgeous. There is a nice waterfall that can be turned on beside the swim-up bar. It is cleaned each morning.
Wi-fi is available for 350 Rupees per day. Reaches most areas of the hotel grounds.
There is a good restaurant on site with a few more options down the street. Most travellers ended up coming back here (probably a sign that it's one of the better places in the area).
BackpackwithBrock also stayed there and it should be shown/featured on his website soon at www.backpackwithbrock.com"

When can we come back....
"Have just returned from staying at Joecons, Benaulim. We chose this hotel because of positive reviews on trip advisor. Our expectations were high and they were fully met. The rooms were comfortable, pool and grounds were well maintained. We ate regularly in the restaurant and enjoyed the wide vegetarian range. All staff were helpful and friendly.
Spent many days at the beach shack, which was relaxing and also served great food.
My son appreciated having a decent movie channel in the room!
We are already planning a return visit next year."

Great hotel, breakfast terrible
"Joecons hotel was good, nice rooms, pool and restaurant. The breakfast was included, and maybe thats why the quality of it was so poor, because we were not paying for it. It was nowhere near the standard of the restaurant or of other hotels we have stayed in in India. Stale cereals, coffee and tea out of sachets, fruit juice served warm, some toast, maybe a sausage, or some fried potatoes, if these were running out they were not replaced until we asked. There was an occasional Indian dish. We ended up not bothering, and waiting to eat a lovely lunch instead. I hope they sort that out, its not acceptable for a hotel of its rating."

Best hotel in Benaulim
"We have just returned from 2 weeks at Joecons and had a fantastic time in this brand new hotel with excellent service. Read 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor before going and they were fully justified. The hotel has been open for about 4 months having expanded from a well established restaurant. Rooms are good with all usual facilities including nice beds and excellent showers. Pool is good size. Well maintained grounds make for really pleasant setting. Location is good. Its about 15 minutes to fabulous Benaulim Beach or there is a free shuttle. The hotel/resport has its own beach hut with loungers and parasols which provides a pretty laid back way to spend the day. (Lots of other beach shacks towards Benaulim as well as some towards Varca. We particulalry liked Jammy's .) All Joecons staff are friendly and restaurant staff particulalry helpful. Food at the restaurant is excellent. We noticed a regular influx of guests fronm pricier Taj Exotica coming in to eat in the evenings. Breakfasts were good too with fresh fruit juice, fruit, yoghurt, eggs and optional Goan side dishes. All in all the resort was an excellent choice for a really realxing holiday. No complaints. We would definitely return"

"Just enjoyed two weeks at JoeCons and enjoyed every minute of it the rooms are fantastic "we had a ground floor room with pool view" excellent.
massive queen sized bed a/c and fan a mini bar 26" lcd tv we also had a wet room with good shower but be early because all the russians use the hot water.
The hotel has a very good sea food resterant attached to it, where the manager Mr Khan can't do enough for you ,with light entertainment on in the evenings this gets busy with guest from the near by taj exotica eating here as well.
The breakfast is simple but ok .A good toaster ( not a stupid conva belt type )but a big pop up type .
the only thing I can knock it is the location it is a little bit out the way, but the hotel does have a shuttle bus if you don't want to walk or ripp off taxis are camped outside never pay what they want, always half what they ask the fare.
We are looking on booking again for christmas .."

Charming, comfortable, small hotel
"Joe Cons was reccomended to me by a friend, what a find. We like to stay in small family run hotels and it is just that. It opened in Nov 2009, the owner had Joe Cons Beach shack for a long time before then. The hotel is lovely, good size rooms and shower room with space to put all the things you need. Very comfortable bed. Upstairs rooms have a balcony which looks out over a lush, established garden with a pretty swimming pool. Good retaurant with extensive menu. The Staff are happy, smiling, friendly and helpful. We had a peaceful, relaxing holiday and definately would return."

Relax at a great hotel in the sun
"My wife and I, with 2 friends, recently stayed at the Joecons for 12 nights. The hotel was busy; but not overfull. We were lucky enough to have superb weather and more than achieved our aim of getting away in Feb to relax in the sun. Key features:
* Good quality rooms
* Very charming , helpful and, on the whole, efficient staff
* Attractive hotel grounds and swimming pool despite the hotel only recently being opened
* An extensive menu of Indian, Goan and Chinese dishes
On the whole very good value for money. We found the constant nagging by the traders on the way to, and on the beach very boring; but you can get used to anything.....
We would certainly go again."

|"WHAT A FABULOUS FIND"
"We found this little gem completely by accident. We were in fact staying at Zuri White Sands and was looking for somewhere for our holiday in November as we were a little disappointed in our hotel which seemed tired etc. and were recommended by another couple of people to have a look at Joecons Beach Resort. We walked up the brach to the Beach Shack and got into conversation with Bobby the Manager who could not do enough for us - after a cool drink he took us in to the hotel car to the hotel where Don the Hotel manager spent so uch tine in showing us around letting us ick the room we wanted - we chose a ground floor room overlooking the pool. The rooms are beautiful - the entrance to the hotek is as good as an any five star resort. Everywhere was immaculate.
We decided to try out the food on offer at their adjoining restaurant - it was so good we ate thre everynight until we came home on Sunday 24th - staff could not do enough for you - entertainment every night - the menu is vast and if there is something you really fancy that isn't on the menu they will prepare it for you - you have to wait a little while after ordering as everything is freshly prepared but the cocktails on offer more than made up for the wait.
This place is really a gem, although surrounded by well known five star resorts can more than hold its own - next year there is to be the addition of a Spa.
If your ideal is a small intimate hotel rather than one of the huge resorts you wull not find anything better. Car service provided to and from beach - although only 15 minute walk.
They have a young and enthusiastic staff including the Customer Relations Manager
The joy of this place is it is not in hardly any of the packaged brochures and can be booked independently.
Can't wait until |ovember"
