Loved the Bougainvillea
"My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Our room was spacious, comfortable, always very clean, always hot water and wonderful ceiling fans to keep cool at night. The gardens are lovely and the swimming pool is refreshing and set amongst more beautiful gardens. We had daily visits from Kingfishers, monkeys, and a large variety of birds. The staff at Granpas is friendly, helpful, and very willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend this hotel!"

Nice, quaint utopic experience without western luxuries
"Stayed here two nights during February, which means less tourists and chaos. The setting was fantastic -- bountiful flower gardens and greenery. The service was nice and friendly. My only gripe with the place (probably true with the other places in the area) was that the usual western amenities (hot shower, clean sheets) was way sub-par. The shower had to be run for a few minutes to let the "rust" out. The sheets don't seem like they've been washed -- not with clean-smelling detergent, at least. And, spider webs everything in the bathroom. This may be the case with other properties in the area, for all I know. In summary, go for the atmosphere, friendly service, and nostalgic appeal, but don't expect cleanliness."

"I stayed here in May 2006. The hotel is small and very comfortable, with an emphasis on service. I stayed for 4 nigths and enjoyed it very much. The food was good and the manager (forgot his name now) was on site and always on the verahndah ready for a chat. I did have one problem with the first room they gave me, when the A/C leaked water. They moved me, and upgraded me to a different room after a little bit of coaxing. Overall, a great experience!"
