"The hotel is in need of a complete refurbishment, the public areas are clean but the floors in the corridors need fixing, a lot of the tiles are loose and it is easy to trip over them. The bedrooms were clean but the maid service was very late in getting the rooms cleaned, most days it was between 3 - 5 that they came to clean the rooms, the bathroom needs refurbished, the shower was very rusty and the shower hose kept breaking. They did not provide enough towels for our party, we were 2 adults and 1 child and were only given 2 towels every day, we also had to ask about an extra bed for our son as there was no apparent bed in the room, we were told the sofa folded down into a bed but I felt it was too dirty and we were expected to make this up every day, we ended up all sharing the same bed. The balcony door did not close properly and was not looked at when we reported this. The pool was nice but they use far too much chlorine. There was no entertainment for Children even though they have an entertainment team, they ignored us for the 2 weeks we were at the hotel. We saw one of the enertainment team at the pool most days and they never spoke once, they were more interested in playing with a ball in the pool and not looking out for the smaller children. The food in the hotel was the same everyday, we were on Bed & Breakfast Basis and were not impressed with the choice at breakfast, it never changed once for the whole 2 weeks, the omlettes were not cooked properly and most of the hot food was left over from dinner the night before. The security staff and reception staff were very unhelpful and sometime very rude. There was no help for getting the luggage from the room to reception even though the staff were not busy they just watched us struggling with the cases. "

"we arrived at this hotel and it was packed in reception.we went to check in and the woman on reception told us our rooms would not be ready for at least another 2hours which actually turned out to be 3!she got someone to lead us into a small bar to wait,it was full of smoke and took ages to get served.i am a smoker myself but i dont think this was fair putting our 3 and 21month olds in.we went for food and the choice of food was tiny, watery soup and the food was overspiced for the kids.it had no kids menu at all,not even chips or toast.breakfast was a choice of vegetables.the kids ate absolutely nothing for 2 days then my youngest became ill with the heat from the hotel.we hadnt even been outside in the 2days we were there, due to making calls to our travel agents so we knew it wasnt from the sun.i rang down to reception to ask for the airconditioning to be fixed and she said it would be off in the whole hotel for another week.the woman on reception was very rude and ignorant and had no time for english guests at all.we requested a cot when we arrived and i had to ask again 6 hours later as it still hadnt came.the rooms were falling to bits-literally!our friends room kept flooding when the toilet was flushed,as it was not fixed to the floor.when maintnance men came hours later they just put some sort of putty around it and didnt even offer a new room.the fridge had been unplugged before we arrived and the 3 year old slipped and banged head on tiles.kids escaped down corridor even tho we had locked door from the inside,we soon found out there was no bolt inside the door.all of the utensils were mouldy, there was a cockroach,,phlem in bath, rusty fridge etc.on our 1st night we witnessed the maid just shake the bed sheets and put them back on.our balcony was tiny and people could just jump over the short wall to eachothers balcony,so you couldnt even leave door open.defo not a place for kids.no ramps for buggies and steep stairs all over, especially leading up to the roof top swimming pool, not to mention they were slippy. In the end we got moved hotels to the soviva resort which was actually a lower rating but felt like a 5*hotel to us!This hotel is defo not a 4*,more like a 1.our friend had stayed in a 2* in turkey and said it was 10 times better than here. Now we are trying to claim some of our money back from hays travel ,and my phone bill which was over £200 ringing reps, travel agents etc.just save yourself the stress and dont come here.We got told that it was a tunisian 4*, so why the hell is it sold as a 4* back in england???complete nightmare"

"having had two holidays in this hotel in the last two years, things must have changed dramaticly judgeing by these reviews. i would give this hotel 3star rating. our accomadation was spacious and airy and well decorated-living area, bathroom and bedroom. we had two balconies. one in the living room and one in the bedroom. our bed was kingsize and each evening the chamber maid had my night things laid out on the bed for me!!!!! while the hotel entertainment was minimal by european standards, the staff were always friendly and polite especially in reception and the bar-hello mohammed, ammed, maher and of course dj dali. yes you can be harrassed by sellers, but a smile and a firm no thank you is enough to send them off to try to sell to the next tourist. having seen first hand ,-dinner with a tunisian family in their home-poverty is a big issue for most working class tunisians. therefore europeans and americans signify "wealth". i enjoyed my stay in the vinnci so much that i returned in march of 2007 alone!!!!!! i in no way felt threathened or in any danger. crime rate is down to 6% , with rape and murder carrying the death sentence,-public beheading!!!!!! on my second visit to the vinnci i went for 1 week but stayed for two!!!! unfortunatly i became ill during the second week. the staff really looked after me extremely well.especially MOUNA in reception, getting the doctor three times, checking in on me and as i got better, making sure that i was eating. all in all i could not find any fault with the vincci hotel or port el kantouai with its beautiful marina and good restaurants. hope to return in the not too distant future. GO with an open mind and ENJOY, regards, mary "

"Catastrophic!! It was really horrible. They do not know the concept of "the satisfaction of the client". The waiters were absoluletly hideous. They were almost yelling at us if we were asking for something. It's like they do not like "to work" or "service". So one can wonder why they are doing this job?? They never smiled. I have never seen this anywhere else. And i have travelled a lot ! You were served "if" they felt like it. The room was dusty and not clean. The internet never worked. The food was ok although it was always the same. I've never ever said that about an hotel... but don't go there ! It's a real nightmare. "

"We had many concerns about going to Vincci Hotel after reading mixed reviews from other people. However all these worries were for no reason. Yes ok its not our usual standard of 4* accommodation but the hotel was clean, all staff were friendly and our rooms were of a decent size and were cleaned every day. We went half board therefore ate in the hotels restaurant most evenings- the food was Ok not amazing but definitely nowhere near bad either, although after eating in the same place morning n night for 2 weeks your going to become bored of the choice no matter where u are. There was generally a good choice of food for both breakfast and tea - although it was the same choices everyday so try to just stick to eating one meal in a sitting rather than eating bits of everything as you'll soon become bored with the choice. (I had a habit of eating little bits of everything.) As a picky eater myself the choice was fine and my younger brother also enjoyed all meals and food and choice was no problem. As many people have said the outside is a little small however we had no problem with ever finding a sun lounger (this was during peak season end of July into August). The pool attendants were very helpful in moving sun loungers and umbrellas so we could move and all sit together in the sun/shade we wanted. The entertainers sam meena and zezu where amazing during both the day and night to entertain the kids and the big kids amongst us- i would recommend going to the beach party was really good and a nice change. Finally i would suggest really listening to your rep ours gave us some brilliant advice on what to look out for when out and about - bartering, falling for scams and paying for taxis. One thing if you go to Tunisia i would recommend 100% going on the rep organised trip (overnight) going to the amphitheater and the camel ride in the Sahra - it was amazing being on the camel at sunset then watching the sunrise the next day over the salt planes- an amazing trip that i'll never forget!!It was a little pricey but well worth it!! Don't worry about coming to this hotel you'll only have problems if your stuck up, and don't realise the general differences between us and other european people in the hotel (e.g their lack of queuing - its just us Brits who do that - even tho it makes sense!!) "For a self catering holiday, this accommodation was fantastic. I've read the other reviews and most complaints seem to be about the quality of food or dining room. The hotel is large and was very clean on my visit. The room was fine, the kitchen area was very small, but don't want to do too much cooking anyway and as long as the hob and fridge works thats fine! There are a couple of nice bars in the hotel, both very different from eachother. The reception is very grand and I always found staff to be friendly. Only pain was the fact that they played quite loud music around the pool, but I never hang round the pool on holiday anyway, much prefer the beach. ANYWAY the restaurants around here are so good and so cheap that you don't need to / want to cook in your room. The main harbour quite a pleasant 10 minutes walk away, yes its next to a main road but the path is wide, sandy and lined by trees between you and the road. There are always plenty of people about so you feel quite comfortable. The restaurants in the harbour are lovely 2 course meal (very filling) and a bottle of wine for 15quid for two and its really really lovely... cooked in authentic couscousiares the food really must be sampled. There are plenty of restaurants like this, both around the harbour and also, instead of turning right into the harbour, turn left into the little circular park area with the fountains. First restaurant on the right is particularly lovely. Also made a few taxi rides (about 4 pounds, get price before you get in) into the nearby city of Sousse - for medina exploring, yes you get hassled a bit, but the more tanned you are the less pestering and if you just ignore them they go away. OOhhh went to the fish market and bought a mound of king prawns to cook back at the hotel. Yum, also do some beautiful tunisian breads. The beach was ok, yes its a 300m walk, but I always found it to be clean although sometimes did have to wait for a sun bed if got there after 1130am. All in all thoroughly enjoyed!"

"I went to this hotel a couple of years ago and had a great holiday - granted, it may have changed by then but surely not much. I agree that the self catering facilities were not amazing, but we had enough to make a couple of simple meals. And the resort centre with many restaurants and cafes was so close that there really wasnt much need anyway. We found the food in the restaurants around the port very reasonable and mostly very good - especially the seafood. In the actual hotel the main buffet restaurant wasnt amazing, but ok for the price. The food in the mexican restaurant was good - although the wine was expensive. I agree that by British standards this is not a 4*, but I found it clean and comfortable and had a really great holiday. I loved the resort and found that very clean, and not noisey and dirty like nearby Sousse. All in all I was very pleased with our experience."
