"I stayed at the Green Golf Hotel last June 2007 for 2 weeks with a large group of friends - mixed age group with a few children. It was our first visit to Tunisia and it will not be the last. Every member of the hotel staff were friendly, kind and courteous. Our fellow holiday-makers were Tunisian, Algerian and African - I found them very appoachable and friendly - if you greet someone with a smile and hello or bonjour they will respond with same! The food was quite varied and enjoyable (provided you didn't want english food!) Why go on holiday to a foreign country and expect to eat what you eat at home! We will return to the Green Golf one day soon I hope. "

Welcome to the Tunisian Travel Lodge a w...
"Welcome to the Tunisian Travel Lodge a weekend retreat for locals and Algerians alike.
Though the hotel was clean and it has lovely grounds and swimming pool, I would not recommend it for holiday makers. There was nothing on at the hotel at all even though the holiday companies advertise entertainment every evening.
The food was basic and after eating there for a week we could not face it anymore.
Whilst we were there for the two weeks there was only two other English people the whole time, two others did arrive and asked to be moved, as fast as they came they went, hence the reason I say it is a Travelodge for locals because thatâs what it seemed to be.
The place itself is nice but very quiet at night, and on a brighter side I must add that Rachel the rep was fantastic.
A taxi ride away for about three dinars is the Shakespeare which is a good night out with entertainment and lots of friendly people. Always have change when taking a taxi, because the locals tend to rip you off.

Have just arrived back, my husband and I...
"Have just arrived back, my husband and I enjoyed it very much, the hotel was clean spacious and quiet, with a lovely large area outside to relax by the pool or wander around the garden. Sadly the indoor pool was shut but it looked attractive.
The staff were friendly and helpful, also our rep Rachel.
There are two shops in the hotel where we were glad to buy from, as the hassle from the locals to buy is very wearing!
Meals were a mixture of cuisine; plenty to eat though, breakfast was the same most days, cereals, fruit, yogurts, cheese, bread, boiled eggs, omelette, tomatoes and cakes.
Situated within easy reach of beach, shops including post office and a supermarket (food and drink bought in may be confiscated at the entrance so be careful, as they want you to buy it on the premises).
The marina is a short walk where the bistros are, fresh fish being plentiful and on display. We enjoyed a stroll along this area most nights.
Some building work was going on but not a problem. Happy to recommend this hotel, if you want entertainment I was told you can enter any hotel and sample theirs.

Our stay in the Green Golf was enjoyable...
"Our stay in the Green Golf was enjoyable; staff were very helpful, and friendly.
The food although varied become a little boring, breakfast was always boiled eggs, no fried or poached, no toast available only rolls, need to cater a little bit more for the English.
Also evening entertainment needs to be organized and a bit more thought out, as we had to go out every evening as there was nothing going on.
The hotel seemed to have no atmosphere at all we were lucky as there was 7 of us but if you go as a couple, you may find it a bit boring.
Rooms basic but clean, bath and shower available, but not ideal if you are old or disabled as the baths are quite high and no hand rails.
The pool was kept clean also they had a nice well kept gardens, little bit of building work going on but not noisy, so you didnât really notice it."

I returned from my holiday there last we...
"I returned from my holiday there last week. It was a lovely hotel.
The staff were very friendly; I cannot fault any of them. They made our stay a very pleasant one.
We even had a laugh with some of them, especially when I fell through the door at the feet of one of them. Pat and I will definitely be coming back.
The only building work was at the Marina and we heard no noise from where we were.
The mountains were beautiful and the scenery fantastic, we booked both trips in the hotel, and both were worth the money. We also booked another trip on a pirate ship which was an eye opener. So thanks to Walid and his friend.
The only thing I found annoying was that we did not have tea/coffee facilities in the room and had to buy them from the bar.
The service in the bar was very good from Jeremy. And Bilel was a trooper, always smiling.
The food was good in the restaurant, gave us an opportunity to try different things. The service from Khaled, Afif and the other waiters could not be faulted. Special thanks.
The service in the rooms was good, beds and towels done daily, and always a pretty design with the way the beds were made..... Petals on the bed on the last day.
All in all a very good holiday and we will be back."

"My friend and I have recently returned from the Green Golf and we just canât wait to go back.
Yes it wasnât the Ritz it was pretty basic, but very clean and very friendly.
We enjoyed the local food which was served, we go on holiday together quite a lot, and this is the first time we will be returning to the same place.
The building work was absolutely no problem to us, the only time we saw it was on our way to the marina.
The local trips that were available by walid and his friend were second to none. We went up the mountains on a pony an trap ride, it was so good we booked again and went to a local womanâs house in the middle of the olive groves and ate bread and drank mint tea, which was delicious.
Everyone was so kind to us; I have never known friendliness like it, except in Sri Lanka, where it is about the same.
We had so much fun and there was an abundance of laughter all around us. Our special thanks must go to the head waiter Kalid and Afif who looked after us very well.
The prices are very cheap so we didnât overspend and go mad like we do in Spain, and it was so good to get away from the madding crowd.
I thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone whoâs looking for a reasonably priced getaway.
Look out Green Golf were coming back!!
Thank you for everything."

Having recently returned from the Green...
"Having recently returned from the Green Golf I thought Iâd write a review. I agree with a mixture of whatâs been written below by other visitors.
To me the hotel was a true 3 star. Upon arrival the fascia looks good, the gardens nice and the reception quite grand.
There is a nice bar, handy shop, indoor pool and spa which were all good.
I was a little disappointed with the rooms; although spacious they are a little dated and could have been cleaner. Rugs on the floor were dirty and the bathroom needed a bit of a scrub. Bedding and towels were changed regularly and were clean however.
The weather was not great during our stay and although blankets were on the beds, the heating didnât work so the rooms were cold in the evening.
The pool and gardens were lovely, a large pool and plenty of space, parasols and beds. The view out of the back of the hotel is great, a large balcony overlooking the pool and beyond.
The food was ok. Some not to my taste and some delicious. There was plenty of it but like another comment, I would advise eating earlier as it started to get cold later on (food is all self service hot and cold buffet).
If you are expecting English food then this isnât for you - its mainly European and Tunisian style food. The waiters are friendly and helpful.
We had no problem with drinks, they are not included in the price and we ordered when we sat down and were served at the table and you paid at your leisure.
The resort is still being developed so there is a lot of building work going on, especially around the hotel and marina but itâs not enough to be off-putting just a small inconvenience.
There is a supermarket, cash point and gift shops within a few minutesâ walk. Cafes, restaurants and the medina within 10 minutes walk. The seafront is lovely with nice beach and plenty of eateries.
Overall the hotel was as expected and although I wouldnât go back, was very reasonable for the price, the staff were helpful, the food ok and the gardens lovely.
The rep and travel company were also great, well organised and helpful.
If you are looking for a budget holiday then this is great. If you like a bit more modern luxury, some of the other 4 or 5 star hotels in the resort may be better for you."

"I have to say I am amazed by the negative comments relating to this hotel and resort.
We stayed for 2 weeks in late August 06 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Green Golf.
The rooms were very well equipped and fairly spacious with even a full size fridge, air conditioning and table and chairs. We had a pool view with good size balcony and patio doors.
The rooms were exceptionally clean with maid service every day. The pool area is spacious and not all squashed together like a lot of hotels. The pool guard was on hand at all times to purchase bed mats from at a very small price.
We found the food to be excellent. We are generally healthy eaters and found the salads to be different every night and extremely tasty. Breakfast was cereals and beautiful fresh croissants and pains au chocolate and other local items. The other dishes for evening meal were often local ones but very enjoyable. The waiters work extremely hard and nothing was too much trouble for them. The waiter we had even dressed our table on our final night which was a lovely thoughtful touch which we appreciated.
All the staff we encountered were totally willing to help in any way they could. Although English isn't used primarily they would endeavour to meet requests as best they could. The hotel shop owner, Habib was also most pleasant and helpful.
The hotel layout is spacious and I would say equivalent to 3 star in British standards. We often stay in 3 to 4 star London hotels and would say it would easily match some of those. Due to my wife's school employment we are only able to take vacations during peak times and really have had some severe disappointments in other countries and hotels, which were not cheap?
This holiday was the cheapest available at the time of booking and well exceeded our expectations. We were half board. For lunch, if you need it, there are cafes and eateries in the marina area, most with excellent prices. The Tunisian Dinars is easy to equate as it is roughly half of sterling. The local phones are few and far between and are called "Taxi phones" and are located on the main street or in a shop. Phoning home is cheap. The mobile network works well with Tri-band phones. The local supermarket, opposite the hotel was well stocked with everything one could require. The staff again were so helpful in there and to walk into that air conditioned area was heaven!
I find it difficult to comprehend exactly what English people expect for the cost of this holiday and all their moaning.
The local resort of Yasmine is beautiful, especially the marina. We like to engage with the locals when abroad instead of whinging Brits!! (Although we met some nice English people) and can honestly say the Tunisian people we encountered were so warm and welcoming, it was a privilege to meet them. Admittedly, the Medina and general shopping experience can be challenging as they do tend to hound you to visit their shops, but it was all good fun.
The only down side was that the resort in general does not have a lot to do at night, but it was a refreshing change to have no yobbish, drunken behaviour and some lovely cafes and bars to visit late evening.
Value for money both in the hotel and resort is superb. Generally items were half the price of the UK and the hotel changed our travellers cheques for a small percentage and the hotel safes were good value too.
The weather was sun all day and the local beaches were great to sunbathe on also. The hotel's beach is fine but go to the beach over the bridge for crystal clear water and fine sand.
The Panorama rep, John was very helpful also. Whilst eating breakfast I had a crown come off and within one and a half hours he had found me a dentist and I had it glued back on for a mere £20.00 - better than the UK!
The flight with My Travel was also absolutely excellent. Do not book with Going Places though, go directly through the Panorama website and you will save £110.00.
We would definitely return to that resort and hotel and would highly recommend it.
If any of the staff or management read this we would like to say a big thank you for all your efforts and hard work.

"I have just returned from two weeks in this hotel, I was very concerned before going after reading the reports, but I have to say we had a great time. There was a little hitch when we arrived in that we were proudly shown to our rooms which were still in the mess left by the previous occupants. So we just left our cases and went for lunch and by the time we got back the rooms were fine and our holiday could begin.
Although I agree the food could have been better we managed to find enough to eat and certainly did not go hungry. The staff could not have been any more helpful and by the end of the holiday we were even getting a table reserved for us in the restaurant.
There was no entertainment either during the day or the evening but we were only a 5 minute walk from both the marina and the medina so this did not cause us any problems. There was the building work going on around us but the days that we were by the pool we didn't seem to notice too much noise.
The hotel is not 5 star, but any holiday is what you make it and we would gladly be back there today."

"Stayed august 06 close to shops and ATM machines. Hotel and bar staff friendly, especially medji and jeremy. Food was the same most nights and we did eat out as itâs cheap but was never ripped off over drinks with meal.
There was building work going on around but even at the pool we never heard it. The down side was entertainment could of been better, I have an 8 year old daughter they did have few things on first week - a snake charmer, magic show, belly dancers.
The second week was bingo and kids mini disco for half hour each night at 10.00 o clock at night itâs quiet. We did ask about this and we were told that the entertainment was only held in June and July.
We would advise British to eat at 7pm at night as Tunisians all came after that and it gets crowded. We went at 8pm few times and had been told to come back later.
Breakfast and dinner also shortage in cups and plates had to wait. Overall the hotel was clean and tidy and the maids were in every day with clean towels and bedding, pool was clean.
We have been to Tunisia before but stayed in Skanes in 4+ hotel which was incomparable to this but it was only 3 star recommended by travel agent.

Spent two weeks at the Green Golf Hotel...
"Spent two weeks at the Green Golf Hotel with my husband and another couple. We all loved it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had asked for rooms next to each other but on arrival this was not the case but next morning the head receptionist told us that adjoining rooms were now available and we could move there. The rooms were excellent and maids came in every day to clean and change towels when necessary. The only downside was the power points, there were only two (one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom, which had the TV. plugged into it).
Building work was going on next to the hotel but I can honestly say that it did not bother us, on the contrary we had a few laughs watching them working.
Food was okay but could be better, but we're in Tunisia not Blackpool. Sometimes there was not enough crockery but waiters, when asked, did their best to replenish stocks.
Sun beds are free, but if you want a mattress, ask the life guard, this only costs l dinar per day.
Entertainment is okay, but not every night. If you want to play bingo make sure you have a pen. If not you will be offered a tooth pick (yes I said a tooth pick) to mark off your numbers. Depending on the amount of nationalities playing it can take quite a while as all numbers are called in different languages. But hey one is on holiday so it is good fun.
Lovely resort. The Marina and the Medina are nearby and a must to see.
Taxis are plentiful but watch out some of them can be quite erratic.
All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday."

This could have been âthe find of the...
"This could have been âthe find of the yearâ sadly it wasnât. The hotel is set just off the main road that goes through the resort and is within easy reach of shops, ATMâs and the marina etc that is a plus in this case.
The Green golf has a sponsorship deal going with both Imodium and Wimpy construction and I do not say this in jest, All the guests (not just the British) complained about the recycled food that reappeared day after day that was of such poor quality that although we were half board we ate out most nights just to put weight back on, we also had to cook every night in our room for our three year old. If you do eat in the restaurant and order drinks with your meal watch how much you are charged as the staff (only the waiters) will try to confuse you and will steal your money better still bring your drinks from the bar.
Around two sides of the hotel major building work are going on seven days a week 08:00 until 2100 hrs and will continue for about another year or so. The builders spend most of the day lairing at the people around the pool so work is slow, the Rep said it wasnât noisy so the company didnât have to inform its customers when we told her about twenty 30ton trucks delivering sand in one morning alone a blank look was the most we could hope for.
Eat at the marina for quality and near the medina for burgers etc and best of all ice cream down along the beach.
This hotel could be good if not great if they sort out the problems and the travel company was just a little bit more honest.
