Our second visit in April 2015 after being here in november last year.
"After 2 miserable 5* all inclusive I decided to try something different. After asking lots of people I know who had been to Tunisia you either love it or hate it.So pleased we came to the Dar Khayam we had the best holiday for decades...we have 3 holidays abroad every year. The food, staff drinks etc etc....perfect(by the way not watered down I was tipsy quite a few times..ok every day)We are so sad about what happened there just after we got home,I dread to think how people are surviving without tourists.Thomas Cook think they will be able to take bookings in the winter,so I am going to wait and see, cant imagine going anywhere else now.Our thanks to all the staff, cant wait to see them again.Pauline and Tony Rickaby."

pay peanuts you get monkies
"Location: the middle of nowhere other around us only the beach. Food: the food was cold and bland complained about the food but told us it was temperature it should be. Drinks: there was lack of choice local beer only, gin, vodka, brandy or whisky. Hotel: was clean and tidy can't complain about that. Entertainment : was very poor Basically I got what I paid for would never go there ever again"

"I have never been to such a poor run down place in all my life, the staff were very rude, not helpful, food if u can call it that was so nasty more of it got thrown in the bin than was eaten, the rep well, a chocolate watch on a hot day would have been more useful, The music at night was so loud no one could get any sleep. It's meant to be all inclusive but more like three meals a day well if u got in the restaurant early that is, if you get in there too late u won't get a plate or knife or fork as the staff take them off the table to give to other people. If u book as a big group your not able to all sit together so if you have a big family the parents sit at one table the the children sit the other side of the restaurant. I could go on but I don't want to bore you lol. There was only one good thing about the hotel it's right on the beach "

"This was our first time here and last. The food was old, repetitive and flies were all over it. We had paid for all inclusive but had to pay to eat somewhere else as the food was so bad. We were advised to pay for a safety deposit box as there had been a few burglaries. We had to buy our water as the water from the bar tasted wrong. We were delayed coming home and put in another hotel for the day, this was a fantastic hotel and I wish I'd booked that one."

second time worse than two years ago
"A room was clean, which was better than two years ago. Beach facilities were still the same: two catamarans, two pedal boats, two single kayaks, one double kayak and few old windsurfing boards. Animation team older but still good. Kids club managed by Sam and two girls from Neckermann worked hard and made children happy. The Kayam has semi sized pools, two pools for children and one separate pool with slides. I am not an alcohol drinker, so I can say nothing about a quality of drinks. Food cheap, repetitive, poor quality. Restaurant on the beach offers good view but food under any standard. Some waiters in the main restaurant drink alcohol, one tried using me to serve him few beer during dinner. He drank beer being hidden behind the wall. Finally Germans allowed him to use their table and sent their young children for beer for him. If you want change a table, a room, or use some facilities it will be impossible without "baksheesh" - informal payment. I saw an accident at the pool area, when a man slipped on wet floor, he was bleeding and lay on the floor, SOS (life guard) couldn't help him. I agree that Dar Khayam price is reasonable, but it cannot be excuse for pathology and I should not have been required to pay once again for standard, which I have already paid."

cheap and cheerful-don't expect the Savoy
"Externally a pleasant property close to a few shops and restaurants- one in particular showed live football. Hotel itself was as you would expect considering the sort of prices paid. Food was excellent although repetitive. Bar was open till midnight and there was no opportunity to pay cash after that! Evening entertainment also stopped at 11pm so a bit disappointed. Pool was [xxx] freezing but it was November although the indoor pool was lovely even though it closed at 6pm. The rooms were clean and tidy and room service was daily but only 2 english channels which was disappointing as nearly half the guests were english. If its a cheap week all inclusive break you are after, then this is good value. I am going back to Tunisia in 3 weeks but am going to try Sousse. Have a good holiday all"

2nd time in dar khayam, ignore the bad reviews!
"Just returned from our 2nd visit to the dar khayam, hammamet. And yet again had an absolutely wonderful holiday, couldnt of asked for more. Was welcomed with open arms as the staff remembered us from our holiday there in july 2010. we had a lovely, modern room which was cleaned everyday, the drinks are NOT watered down, as I personally opened a bottle of rum and it was still sealed. the bar staff are excellent, the waiters are excellent (you look after them with a small tip & they look after you)entertainment team was fab yet again, no complaints as everything was as we knew it would be, i.e weather wise, outdoor entertainment wise and had all the info we needed regarding the recent protests. the hotel was clean and the food was lovely and always hot, a small variety each day and each day was different. had the indoor pool to use as the weather wasnt great, the pool was nice n warm just could be slightly cleaner. the staff are always polite and love getting to know holiday makers, i learnt some more arabic this time and made some new friends. our thomas cook rep was really lovely and its safe to safe i will definately be returning soon! thumbs up guys, keep up the hard work!!"
