"Our first all inclusive and I cannot find a single thing to criticise about this hotel. We travelled last week, with children aged 8 and 7 and had a ball! The hotel itself is completely enclosed and the gates guarded 24/7 so leaving the kids to wander round with their new friends was never a problem (infact we hardly saw them for 2 weeks!)
The food and drink, although I am told was not the best for an all inclusive, was most definately more than we expected, with different themes almost every night.
The staff are amazing!!!!!!!!!! There is a real family feel to the whole place, from the moment we walked in til the day we left. The staff even came and waved us all off when the coaches came to pick us up and I can honestly say it bought a lump to my throat.
There are 150 activities every day except a Monday when the staff have their well earned day off. On the subject of staff, Wes and Andrew the Thomson reps were fab and whenever we needed help or advice they were there...
Pirate trip was great for the kids (infact they went free!), camel trip was good value although take the advice of wearing long trousers cause the chafing was torturous!!
My only concern with praising this hotel as much as I am is that Thomson will hike the prices next year and that we might have to share this magical place with too many people.
We will definately look at going back!!

"This holiday seemed so reasonable for AI that I thought it a bit too good to be true but the hotel was wonderful, the staff were really friendly, the food lovely and alcohol flowing. The weather let us down a bit whilst we were there but when it did shine it was fantastic. Would recommend the Pirate ship but not the sahara tour."

"Well what I can I say an absolutely fabulous hotel. Food was out of this world Kids Club was fab - my four year old went on a banana boat which he loved and the aqua park was great too. The beaches were clean, we stayed in a beach bungalow which had 2 bathrooms and two balconys. Definately will go back again. Entertainment was great - words cannot describe how absolutely fabulous this holiday was. Wes the Thompson rep was very informative and would go out of his way to help. Everyone should go!!!!"

"We have fallen in love with this place, fabulous!! All staff are so nice. Dorothee at Guest Relations is lovely, Nordy in Jazz Bar, lovely bloke! All the staff we spoke to were so nice and helpful. We could not fault Penelope Beach and would definately go back again as long as Thomson don't price it out of the market!!
The food was so, so good and far better than most 5* hotels we have stayed at. The a la carte resuarants are very good. Best part is everything is included, no extras to pay for. We will put some pics on soon.
We had a top floor 'bungalow' which was a good size for the two of us and it overlooked the pools (Rm 3810).
Thomson rep Wesley, really helpful and really nice too, one of the best reps we have ever spoken to. He even gave us details on hotels in Bulgaria as he had been there and knew the best hotels to stay at. We had a problem with a tour we went on and as much as his handswere tied, he really did try to sort things out for us. Cheers Wes you are a nice person to deal with even though I was upset!!
To those that go to Penelope Beach, enjoy yourselves as much as we did and have fun!"

"This hotel is excellent value for money and it does everything it claims to do. No hidden costs it is all inclusive just like it states on the web site. The food ,drinks entertainment & rooms are of very good standard. The staff are well mannered, friendly and cant do enough for you. The cleanness of this hotel is 10/10 never seen such a clean hotel, the toilets on the beach were clean not even sand in them !! This hotel and its staff are well managed everything is well organised and professorially done. The entertainment team made this holiday extra special, They worked so hard to make sure you had a good time. I would recommended this hotel to all as they made everyone feel welcome. Its about time a 4*+ hotel lived up to its name as the last few Ive had with Thomson have fell very short of what they advertise. I think i will stick to Magic Life Hotels from now on! Cant wait to go back in September with my teenagers as this place will definitely keep they off my back for a week or so."

"Just returned from a superb holiday at the Penelope Beach. Unfortunately many people have been put off from travelling to Tunisia because of the Libyean troubles but we saw nothing that would make you uneasy. You would not know that there is any trouble. We were told that something like 160,000 people have cancelled from Tunisia and Egypt, could well believe it as well because the Penelope Beach can take 750 guests. For the first 3 days of our holiday there were 350 guests and the last 4 days had 250 guests. When you consider there are 260 employees at the hotel you can imagine what super service we received all week.

There is alawys something going on thanks to the entertainment team or you can just laze round one of the pools.

The food is excellent with so much choice where they have a different theme each day in the main restaurant. There are also another 3 restaurants, Thai, Mediteranean and Tunisian which you can book and eat in. This all comes within the All inclusive banner.

The beach is superb and the whole area is security controlled so that you are not bothered by hat and carpet sellers.

If I had to make a critisism then the evening entertainment is a little poor but then at least there is entertainment which is more than can be said of other hotels we have stayed in.

Our group all agreed that it is a hotel that we would go back to as we had such a great time."

"We have just returned from a weeks holiday, it was fabulous! Both my fiance and 11 month old boy also loved the resort.

The food is amazing! the restaurant has daily themes, the choice is great! there was plenty of food for our baby too. We did need to take a kettle and glad we did to boil babies water because the room didnt have a kettle. The restaurant does have a microwave to warm babies food up and a bottle warmer but our avent bottle was a bit too big for the small warmer. The baja restaurant was lovely unlike the thai one which was barely chinese! The room is also nice and large with a balcony.

The drinks were all free from endless bottles of cold water to champagne cocktails ! which are def worth a try they call them kirwire. There are many bars dotted over the resort. The jazz bar is lovely and relaxing in the evenings and usually quieter than the mungo bar to get served for drinks.

There are a total of 6 pools, the outdoor pools were really cold, but there is an in door pool & jacuzzi. The relax pool is great to get tan!

The staff were so friendly and helpful. There is also wifi in the mungo bar & reception area.

We would def love to go again and also wished we booked up for 2 weeks instead of 1. We met a lot of lovely couple in our group too. Djerba airports not the greatest to kill 2 hours but its ok. We took cash with us and didnt need to spend a penny, absolutely everything is free! its almost too good to be true! Theres also crepes at 4pm! soo tempting. We have eaten so much over the week! The resort suits all ages. Quite a few water sports are free, atlhough we did not get a chance to take advantage of this. The beach is ok has a lot of touts trying to get you to pay for camel/horse rides and the beach has a lot of camel/horse droppings on it. There is also a sandwich bar near the beach which we discovered on the last day!

Theres is a gym but you cant wear flip flops! so take trainers.
Overall brilliant time! We would love to return."

"just returned from penelope beach resort and all i can say is fantastic never had to spend any money everything was all included even water prorts and shisha smokimg room
breakfast was a tad boring but the food through out the dat including the night was just unreal check out the 3 ala cart resturants as well
i have 2 children 3 and 4 and they were in there element with the mongo club
the aqua park will keep you and the children busy next to the beach and the beach and water was loverly apart from the men with the horses pestering you to take a ride but this was controllled by security who were always present to stop the locals pestering you for things to buy
the gift shop in the hotel needs to be avoided as this is 4 times the price of the local shops just out side down the road check out the middle shop on the left and say darren sent you the guy speaks good english and gives you plenty of advice which stuff is made in china and not in djerba
youll have to rember also that english is there 5th language so not many people understand
alot of the other foreign guests were a bit rude as this seems to be there destination more so then the english but all in all the staff are excellent and i can not list the activities like archery land skis just too much too list over 200 activities aday and thats no joke if you dont want to relax
the only down side we find was when we went to the main town the people get very aggressive if you dont buy as there on comission but the local shop 2nd on the left has everything you could want to buy as its just the same old stuff"

"Once on the premises of the club Magic Life, you enter a world of friendlyness, top service and sheer relaxation. Check the site for pre-check in, it's perfect.
Your bags and suitcases will be brought to your room.
Left and right of the lobby/reception there are 2 bars. The Mungo bar is open all day, the Jazz bar in the evenings. Through the Mungo bar to the terrace, which is right next to one of the pools of the club. Enough chairs and tables inside and outside. On the terrace you can play pool (1 Tun. Dinar). If you take your own laptop you have free internet in the bar and on the terrace. There are also 3 computers available. In the garden you find the towelstation and on a billboard you can check out all the activities during the day. The animationteam is always present, the kids and youngsters have a lot of fun. All personnel is very friendly, from gardener to manager. The service in the restaurants is perfect. You will find a buffet restaurant and 2 a la carte restaurants. We were completely satisfied with the buffet, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, there is so much choice of dishes, it is impossible to taste all of the food. Showcooking of many dishes during lunch and dinner. Fish, beef, turkey, name it, it is on the menu!
Everything is kept spotlessly clean. When a table is set for the next guest, always fresh tablecovers, napkins (no paper napkins!), glasses and cutlery.
The garden is beautiful, the grass is green and there are no insects like cockroaches.
We had a standard room, which was nog spacy but everything you need is in it. (But how often do you want to sit in your room with such a great club at hand. ) Individual airco, hairdryer, soap/shampoo, minibar with always enough water and soft drinks, flatscreen tv, safe, it's all there.
You can join many sport acivities. Check their website for the whole range.
On the beach you find bananaboat, waterski, surfing and cat-sailing. A nice bar right on the beach, another one at the pool with the waterslides. In every bar you can get free bottles of water, all day long.
During our stay in October the weather was still fine, sometimes a bit chilly when the sun did not come out. In the evening you can sit outside for dinner or to have a drink. Try the waterpipe, it's fun.
The guests in the club are in majority from Germany. Other nationalities are French/ Belgians and Dutch. There were only very few Russians.

We enjoyed our stay very much, and we will certainly return to Magic Life Penelope."
