Zenji Hotel the Jewel of Zanzibar!
"The Zenji Hotel was our fist experience in Zanzibar. Annaloes the owner showed as to a wonderful room in her erstwhile family home. Furniture and space and en-suite bathroom were bliss! We had our own balcony to sit on and watch the busy street life below. It was a treat to stay in a "real" Tanzanian house. Breakfast was on the room - homemade bread and tasty things to eat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I want to add that we would not have found The Zenji Hotel were it not for EDDIE. We meet him when we came off the ferry. He showed us around the following day his advise was always spot on! We agreed that others would find it useful to have someone meet them and show them to the Zenji Hotel and town of Zanzibar."

Awesome place, don't think about booking...just do it!
"I stumbled upon the Zenji Hotel on the internet and what a great find. From check-in to check-out, everything was fantastic. Having just flown in from the Masai Mara, the welcome drink upon check-in was refreshing and just what I needed to get settled. I was shown to my room on the second floor. It was spacious and had a nice breeze - - the AC unit was almost unnecessary. The bath was shared and very very clean. Free wireless internet was icing on the cake! Breakfast, which was included with my rate, was delicious. In addition to fresh fruit and bread, they made to order eggs and served the most delicious spiced tea. I met two other solo travelers at breakfast and ending up spending the entire day with them...life long friends made at the Zenji! No complaints. I highly recommend the Zenji. and P.S. After coming back from the North and being a bit disoriented, I found my way to the Zenji and they offered a cool drink and arranged a cab to the airport...sweet!"

Wonderful hotel with light and airy rooms, friendly and efficient staff and yummy breakfast!
"A great find very close to the ferry port, and only a short walk from many great restaurants and the beach front. Staff were always friendly and couldn't do enough to help us during our stay. The rooms, always clean, have been beautifully decorated, and it is obvious that the owners have paid lots of attention to detail, and we really appreciated their efforts to locally source all furnishings. The breakfast stands out as the best we had hands down during our eight weeks travelling though East Africa! I don't think anyone would be disappointed with a stay in this great hotel."

Wonderful friendly place to stay - highly recommended
"This hotel was a real find - the rooms were gorgeous, the staff and the owners were friendly and incredibly helpful. Breakfasts were delicious, with fresh fruit and home made breads. They even gave us a packed breakfast when we had to leave early to catch the ferry. The hotel is well situated - it is an easy walk everywhere in Stone Town. They had free internet and residents could borrow a laptop to access the internet. We even came back for an extra night before we left Zanzibar. I would definitely recommend this hotel."

Wow!! A wonderful hotel that should not be missed!
"The Zenjihotel is amazing and definitely should not be missed by anyone travelling to Zanzibar! It is ideally located in Stone Town and is within close walking distance to great restaurants, shopping and sight seeing. My brother and I were only planning on staying 1 night and ended up staying 3! The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly, kind and will help you in any way to plan excursions to other parts of the island. Plus the affordable price for the rooms include a delicious breakfast with homemade bread and jam.. you really could not ask for a better place!"

Gorgeous, calm rooms in a bustling city center
"My boyfriend and I stayed one night at Zenji before leaving on an early ferry the next morning - but if we'd stayed longer in Stone Town, I'm sure we would have stayed here. Just off a hectic street not far from the port, this is a small, calm, beautifully decorated oasis of a hotel at a very reasonable price. The Dutch woman running the hotel went out of her way to make us feel welcome, give us advice & arrange what we needed (ie, laundry, a phone call to track down some articles left in our taxi, breakfast to carry out for our very early ferry). The roof has a lovely snack / sitting / breakfast area. Our room was beautiful. Thanks for a wonderful stay!"

The most welcoming place in East Africa
"We stayed at Zenji hotel at the end of our trip around East Africa and it was the most memorable place we stayed. Mani and Annaloes were the best hosts you could ever have... very welcoming and had loads of advice about where to go and what to see on the island. At the end of the stay we were sad to leave after making such great friends. Even though we live in Australia we hope to come back some day soon."

A wonderful hospitality, nice and clean rooms and a very tasty breakfast
"We have been to Zanzibar many times and this time we looked for a new place to stay in Stone Town. We found Zenji hotel, with it`s very friendly hospitality, nice and clean rooms and tasty breakfast. We stayed all together 8 nights and we really liked the warm atmosphere in this place. We also appriciate the location, in a more local part of Stone Town. When we go back to Zanzibar, probably for the next Sauti za Busara, this will be our first choice. We also became very glad for the very nice greetings Mandi and Annloes had left for us on a postcard, when they didn´t had the oppurtunity to say godby. So, see you next time! Don't miss this wonderful experience
"An oasis in the middle of Stone Town awaits you. The Zanzibarian proprietor and his lovely Dutch wife have paid attention to every detail of your stay. The scent of sweet cloves fills your air conditioned room. The beautiful furniture crafted by local artists is visually appealing. When you least expect it, your bed will be covered with jasmine petals and the scent will live in your mind long after life has called you away from Hotel Zenji. Each morning home baked breads, fresh local fruit, Spanish omelets and abundant coffee await you. Suleiman Ali Mohamed, the proprietor, is kind and helpful. He extended himself for us to insure that we had a positive experience and helped us to navigate Zanzibar in a way that one would never have expected. The hotel's location is central to everything: the port is within an easy walk as are fabulous restaurants and beautiful beaches at sunset. If you are headed to Zanzibar, you will truly enjoy your stay at the Hotel Zenji and you will never forget Anneloes and Suleiman. I recommend it to you without reservation. Book early, they have just nine rooms."

Lovely stuff, great rooms and wonderful location
"ZenjiHotel is a new hotel in which we happen to stay for several nights during our trip to Africa. It was a place to remember, and one of the best that we've been in during this long trip, for its good combination of price, stuff, rooms and atmosphere. The stuff is nice and warm. One of them, Suliman, is also a tour guide, and he took me to a tour in the pictorial streets of stone town. He has great knowledge and endless patience. Highly recommended!"
