Fabulous holiday, shame about the reception staff
"We loved the Neptune Pwani, it's all beautiful, the food is very good and no problem finding nice vegetarian options. The waiting, cleaning and bar staff are efficient, polite and very helpful. The spa is great, we had a wonderful hot stone massage, the staff there are lovely too and very skilled. Unfortunately the reception staff weren't very good. They had no information, got our departure information totally wrong and tried to make us leave our room at the wrong time. They really had no concept of customer service, which is such a pity because everything else about this resort was great."

"I went for a 7 day all inclusive package to Neptune and was a bit nervous about what i was getting myself into but i was presently surprised when i arrived at the hotel. The picture on the net didn't do the place justice. The stuff was very friendly and helpful. The Rooms were clean and net and had everything we need in it. We had a Sea side room and it was perfectly situated close to the beach/pool/restaurant which was great. The Food was good and every effort was made to make sure our special food needs were meet because we don't eat beef and pork. The all inclusive snacks and drinks menu is a bit limited but you can get by because the breakfast, lunch and supper had tons to choose from to eat. The Spa is also fantastic and i recommend you go speak to them on the first day you arrive there otherwise you won't know that all the facilities (steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and pool) are at ur disposal because the spa price list in the room says otherwise. There are also other treatment options thats not in the book in the room so its best to go there and speak to the staff. They are also very friendly and help. We booked out tour with the beach boys and got them at half the price for essentially the same tour. They are honest and trustable."

Simply the best!
"Me and my husband spent 2 weeks in Neptune (22 June â 6 July). We took all inclusive and room with sea-view close to the beach. It was really wonderful time with marvellous nature. Beach: breath-taking. White sand and deeply green-blue water. During the low tide you can go ca. 2 kilometers inside the sea area to watch a coral reef. You will see more if you accept the company of local beach boys. They are very friendly and keen of showing you animals, agriculture, and other interesting things. You will miss a lot going alone⦠Free sun loungers available at any time during the day.. Pool â excellent. The biggest in Zanzibar and with pool bar. Water sport: quite ok, however Mirko (called as a "water sport master") is not too much engaged⦠Be prepared that you will have to visit water center a few times unless you find it opened. Rooms: clean and nice. Every day a bottle of water is replenished. The fridge in the room is empty, but if you ask for cola, soda or any other bottled drink in bar â you can take it to your room. You can also ask whiter during the lunch or dinner â just remember to ask to not open the bottles. Staff â friendly and outstanding. We cannot complain Food â plenty of choice in buffet form. A hotel restaurant is also available, however you need to pay. Drinks â nice cocktails and local alcohol drinks. The premium drinks are not AI but the price is quite ok. Eg. 4 USD for 50ml Johny Walker Black Label. Excursion â we recommend to visit: butterfly center, Jozanni park, prison island with big tortoises and of course Stone Town (see some pictures). That was great holydays in paradise."

Great atmosphere and beautiful beach
"We visit Neptune with friends and found it a very nice hotel with a beautiful beach. We took the all inclusive option which was nice because you didnt have to worry about the bill at the end. The rooms are lovely with zanzibar carved furniture, each room as a verandah which is nice to relax on. The beach is beautiful with loads of sunbeds to relax on. The beach boys can be a bit irritating. You can only swim at high tide but neptune has a huge swimmingpool with a bar.We really enjoyed our stay."

"Jambo . We changed hotels to Neptune Pwani four days before departure, and were delighted with EVERYTHING!! Thank You Neptune Pwani for making our 30th wedding anniversary and my husband's Birthday a time we will remember forever!! The staff are outstanding and we came back with the knowledge of many Swahili words - Asante Sana Neptune. The rooms are very spacious and ours overlooked the main swimming pool and games area. The Entertainment (animation) Team organised waterpolo, volley ball and beach soccer, table tennis, pool and darts competitions, if you became a bored relaxing. We ate far too much, but there was always lots of variety in what was served (but they can't get the calamari right - tough no matter how it was prepared). Other than that, the food was amazing and our new waist lines are proof of it! Lots of fun was had in Madafu pub every evening - pity only one barman on duty most nights, so bar service was not the greatest! Cocktails were wonderful, but a little more variety would be even better - we actually invented a few of our own whilst there. (Ask them to put a shot of vodka into the non-alcoholic fruit cocktail - it is awesome!! We would suggest that on arrival they should give you a more personal briefing about the facilities and what is, and what isn't included, instead of giving you a typed out page. We also should have booked a pizza dinner after a few nights, to take a break from the buffet - we did on the last night and the seafood pizza is highly recommended!! The beach boys wre a bit of a pain, but you need to be quite stern with them if you want to go on a peaceful walk along the beach. Whatever you do, you must take the Safari Blue tour - it was our best day in Zanzibar. Shop around and get a few other guests together to bring the costs down - we paid $80, but by lunchtime we knew we had obtained value for money. An experience of a lifetime and the snorkelling and sailing along with the dolphins was to die for. Left the hotel at 08h00 and returned at 19h00 - well worth it!! We used Juma who comes to the hotel in the mornings looking for bookings - he was excellent. We were very sad to leave on Tuesday, but have made a promise to ourselves that we will be back!! If you book Neptune Pwani, you won't regret it!! Enjoy, we certainly did - Karen"

"I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Zanzibar. The staff are so friendly and genuinely want to make your stay great. Every staff member from the cleaning lady, to the gardener to the chef greeted us with a "Jambo!" every time we walked passed. The food is delicious and the beach is gorgeous. The sand is white and is so soft like powder. I have been to Mauritius and Thailand but for me the beach at Neptune was far more beautiful and unspoilt. When the tide goes back it is too shallow to swim but is still beautiful to look at. And if you really want to swim the big pool is just steps away. When choosing a hotel I always read reviews on Trip Advisor. But this is the first time I have loved a hotel so much that I felt I needed to write a review. There is just something special about this place and Zanzibar. The day tours were a bit expensive so we did the Spice and Stone Town Tour and Safari Blue through Omar, one of the beach boys. His tours were literally half the price, he has a tour operator card and is qualified to run day tours and they were great. Ideal for honeymooners and anyone wanting to relax in a beautiful, quiet paradise. Asante Sana Neptune!!!"

Beautiful beach, nice rooms, good food, very quiet!
"The Neptune is a small, beautiful and quiet resort, with an amazing beach and nice rooms with a spacious balcony. Definately a very good place to stay for a relaxing holiday! There are many chairs underneath the palm trees on the sandy beach, which gives you a beautiful view of the ocean. We stayed 1 week in april 2009 and had only one day of rain. It was very quiet, which we liked. There was no shows or other animation. The guests came from all over the world. The buffet food was very good: lots of choice and tastefull. Beer, wine, sodas and a selection of hard liquor and cocktails are included. Two tings what keeps it from perfection: not all staff understands English very well and the salesmen on the beach can be annoying, but there is a guard who tries to keep them away."

Romantic and special
"A definite must if you are planning on a holiday on Zanzibar...the most beautiful and easily accessible beach on the island...I even loved the beach boys....everyone wants to come and talk with you, even if you aren't buying their wares. And the different languages they are fluent in makes me feel less than able. THe resort is perfect in all ways. Very clean, rooms filled with fresh flowers everyday, an excellent buffet...and for a special treat, the restaurant upstairs is incredible! I loved the breezes, AC not necessary when dining, the room is open to the breezes. In fact, I am missing the Neptune so much! The choice of excursions was excellent and this is not a snooty resort, it is like a big family. I loved my stay and will return next christmas. THe staff is top notch and everyone wants to help you to know the culture, the people and the food. I met people from all over the world, which is a plus. I highly recommend the Neptune and hope to return soon!"

At Neptune I felt like the King of the sea!
"Neptune is an incredibly beautiful resort and we had a great time there. The room rate was very reasonable and our package included non-alcoholic drinks. The lunch choices were great and reasonably priced. Our beautiful ocean view room was great. But the best part was that we felt very welcomed. We never passed a single Neptune staff member that didn't great us with, "Jambo", ask us where we were from, or ask us if everything was ok. This included the pool cleaners, chamber maids, wait staff, everyone! The facilities too were top-notch. Pool was huge, spa was gorgeous."

"We stayed here the last week of our honeymoon. This place is very beautiful and relaxing. We spend a week with massages, snorkeling, sunbathing and swimming in the enormous swimming pools. All though there are many rooms the place wasnât crowded. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you are picky when it comes to food this is the place to be. There are a lot of different foods to those from and everything taste great. We very much enjoyed our stay and would defiantly recommend staying here."
