"We stayed at the Echo beach hotel at the beginning of july for 8 nights for our honeymoon and found the place simply delightfull.
The lodges were well presented with quality furniture.
The setting and beach was fantastic, pure white sand and lots of hot sunshine with a gentle sea breeze.
The perfect place if all you want is relaxtion and quiet.
The food was simply superb ,lots of local fish ! we both really enjoyed looking forward to the evening menu!
We found the staff very pleasant and the service overall was very good.
The owners Sue and Andrew were extremely accomodating and made sure everything was perfect and welcomed us with wonderful bottle of champagne.
Overall we were sad to leave and hope to revisit there in the future"

Couldnt have been better!!!!
"Me and my partner stayed with Sue and Andrew at Echo Beach fron the end of June to the beginning of July 2008. When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly staff who took our bags from us and gave us fresh fruit juice which was very nice after such a long journey!
We enjoyed a very relaxing stay for two weeks sunbathing and sipping Malibu and Coke and Gin and Tonics, everything was excellent! Sue and Andrew are wonderful people who couldnt have been more accomodating and helpful (they even sorted out tooth paste on the first evening and a lift to the airport when our taxi didnt turn up at 4 am in the morning! a big thank you to Sue for helping us catch our plane!)
Every day the food was excellent, from the fresh fruit in the morning to the creative lunch time menu and a la carte evening meal options, all the food was very fresh and well presented and of cause tasted great! The staff were fantastic and made sure we were looked after in the restaurant, a big thank you to Rose and Marcus and Dulla who made me some fantastic Mojito's!
The rooms were spacious and well equiped including the lovely wet room style bathrooms. Everywhere was kept clean as the chamber maids came in the the mornings once we had got up and cleaned and gave us clean towels, then in the evenings came in and put the mosquito nets down which were round the bed.
The view from the room was amazing and you could always hear the crystal clear sea lapping on the white sand just a few steps away from the pool.
Just an amazing experience for us both including Stone Town when Sue and daughter Lucy organised a hire car for us. There is also fishing, scuba diving in the coral reefs and swimming with dolphins that Sue will happily organise for you and get good rates for all of her customers!
Fantastic weather, location, owners, (dogs, Clide and Puppy are the most adorable Great Danes) and staff. Everything we read about the hotel on the web site was spot on we wernt dissapointed with anyhting!!
Andrew and Sue made our first holiday together something we will never forget and we would love to come back, i would recomend this hotel to all my family and friends!"

wonderful place except the food, which is far from being as good as mentioned
"This place is really really nice and Sue the owner extremely warm and welcome, whereas her husband is rather strange. Any way, the set-up of the resort, the location, the beach and the swimming pool are just magic. Just be warned that though the Echo beach resort insist on the culinary talent of Andrew, the british chef, we were extremely disapointed the food as the choice is limited, and beside chips and rice not much of green vegetables, spices and fruits cookings around which is a shame when you know what all Zanzibar can offer you. Maybe because i am an average french cook whom has been leaving in east africa for a while and knows all what is available. But i would not say it is not a reason to go, as the place is extremely beautiful."

"We stayed here for 4 nights from June 4th to 8th and are so pleased we did not choose one of the larger chain resorts. The property and beach villas are beautifully maintained and I cant imagine a more picture perfect palm fringed beach and powdery white sand. What really stands out though is the personal service that Sue and Andrew provide. When I needed Tanzanian Shillings, Andrew exchanged money with me at a more favourable rate than I could have received anywhere else and also paid the difference for a taxi fare that was higher than their negotiated prices. As the last reviewer stated, the pre-haggled taxi and tour prices are very convenient and cheaper than anything I could have bargained for myself."

"If you like to sunbathe in peace, read on a bed on your veranda enjoying the breezes of the beach and eat gourmet food then Echo is a great choice for you. It's wonderful! We stayed for three days at the end of our trip to Tanzania and it was amazing. It is a smaller botique resort unlike the huge and very expensive Breezes next door. We felt that this gave us much more of a personal experience and we found the staff to be so friendly and helpful. The beach is amazing. We can't wait to bring back our family and friends. Check out the pictures from other travelers and the website...it's paradise."

"We had a fantastic experience with this hotel. Rooms are beautiful, all of them overlooking the sea, and with their own veranda at the front, which makes it very special. Food was the best I had in Tanzania, top-quality chef. I would recommend this place to my best friend and family. Just perfect."

Paradise on Earth
"We have just returned from spending a month in Tanzania helpin g out in an orphanage. We had the privilige of spending the last five days of our stay at the new Echo Beach Hotel. This must be what paradise is like. Everything you could ever wish for especially the beautiful unspoilt white sand beaches where the only footprints are your own. WOW! They go on for miles and miles. Fabulous food, especially Andrews crab and avocado appetizer, amazing hosts and beautiful accommodations are the perfect recipe for rest and relaxation. The air conditioned thatched roof bungalows with the massive balconies and wonderful rain shower bathrooms were amazing. Loved every minute of our stay--our hosts Sue and Andrew made us feel like family. We most certainly will be back with friends!!!

A great little gem on Zanzibar
"We stayed at Echo Beach for just over a week around Christmas last year. We had a really wonderful time. Sue and Andrew are excellent hosts. And their staff are very courteous and friendly. The food was excellent; and was cooked as and when you wanted. You weren't shepherded in and out to eat at certain times as we heard from those staying at Breezes. The seafood was awesome; fresh from the beach. In fact all the meals were great. And portions very generous and really nicely presented.
Each villa is tastefully decorated with a large bathroom and a large veranda. The view was second-to-none. The pool and the beach less than a minute's walk away. We sure miss waking up to the sound of the sea in the morning!! We had a problem with our water boiler a few times (poor old Andrew!), but any time there was a problem it was acted upon immediately. Always.
You can always grab a recliner by the smart pool. And the beach; well it was amazing. No other hotels for about 15mins walk in either direction. So the only souls on the beach were the guests or the odd fisherman bringing in the catch. You really felt it was yours alone. Perfect.
If you want to venture to a spice farm (recommended) or to Stone Town they'll arrange a taxi for you. Would definately suggest a few days stay in the dilapidated charm (!) of Stone Town before you head to Echo Beach.
As for the amazing scuba diving; did that with the Rising Sun Dive Centre at Breezes. Great staff; Paul the manager is a top bloke. But beware; it ain't cheap!
Enjoy Echo Beach and Zanzibar!

Amazing find in Zanzibar
"We spent 5 nights here just after the new year. We thought it was great. Its just formally opened so everything is brand new. There are 7 bungalows all which are sea-facing. We thought the room was a good size with a large verandah and a massive bathroom. We stayed on a half board basis which worked well. Food is amazing- all cooked by Andrew and not a menu you would necessarily expect in such a location. Given the size of the hotel it is quiet so you can always get a sunlounger, there's hardly ever anyone using the large pool and the stretch of beach isn't used by anyone else for at least 10 minutes either side of the hotel. And the beach is amazing. The owners Sue and Andrew really do make every effort to make sure everything is ok. The next hotel Breezes which is much larger is about a 10 minute walk away. We used them for their watersports but were so pleased we were staying at Echo Beach- much better and cheaper and not busy.
Looking forward to going back there soon!"

Echo Beach Far Away in Zanzibar
"We spent 3 nights as the 'first guests' at Echo Beach, Bweju, on the south east coast of Zanzibar.
The owners, Lucy and Andrew, were the perfect hosts and their staff polite and courteous. This is a new 9 villa development just set back from the most wonderful beach. The 'hotel' has its own pool and restaurant, from which we ate the best food in all of our 2 week stay in Zanzibar (this may have been something to do with Andrew being a successful Provencal chef for the last 20 years!).
The accommodation was spacious, well designed and comfortable. The bathroom included a wonderful shower and good quality fittings while the balcony commanded a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean through the palm trees.
Price is hard to comment on as Lucy invited us there for a few days before it's official opening, but I have every confidence it will market itself appropriately; it certainly seems to fill that missing niche of a high quality establishment with individuality without having to go right to the top end of the market."
