"Fantastic hotel. Rooms are lovely and have a gorgeous view of the Pilanesburg game reserve. The pool area is amazing and all the staff are very courteous and attentive. The breakfasts are great - everything you could wish for and more. There is an excellent restaurant on site (Santorinis) for lunch and dinner. You can also eat in any of the other restaurants in the neighbouring 3 hotels. Apart from the hotel it there is so much to do at Sun City. I would definitely recommend the Valley of the Waves, a game drive in the adjacent game reserve and the Zip2000, the worldâs longest zip wire. Awesome! We had 4 nights there and could have spent another 3 easily. And itâs an easy 2 hour drive from Johannesburg. Will go back for sure!"

"We stayed 4 nights in this hotel. The staff was great, there were 100's of them and all your requests taken with a smile. The garden is lovely with the wooden bridge, small cascades and baboons and expecially all the trees, like a rainforest! The next-door golf couse is just great and so is the pool area. Where they serve the best lunch with this 'Fat Bastard' Chardonnay! Wowie."

Great Place To Stay
"Stayed at The Cascades in November 2006 as part of a Southern African Honeymoon. Stayed 5 nights and our only negative would be a lack of sun in the resort for the duration of our stay. We picked one of the only times of the year where rain fell regularly - but there was still a fair bit of sun during our stay. The service was very good, the breakfast selection was wonderful, and the surroundings were very nice indeed. One warning - there are locks on windows for a reason - more than one room was entered by baboons during our stay. Funny to see, but not if it's your room."

Nice hotel but be careful about your properties
"I spent a week at the Cascades hotel in a company meeting. The room was very nice and clean with a gorgeous look through the window. The problem is that somebody stole my money and my mobile phone from the inside of the wardrobe. The hotel manager did not get shocked so I assume I am not the first case. No information, no apologies, nothing from the hotel. The rest of the hotel was OK, but I couldn´t enjoy in a normal way."

4 Fab Nights!
"What a great start to our honeymoon! We had 4 lovely nights at the Cascades Hotel in Sun City. The room was large and had a great view of the gardens and pool area at the back of the hotel. The bed was very comfy and the en-suite bathroom was large with separate bath and shower (very powerful) and the toilet in a separate compartment. The staff were very helpful we had lots of 'extras' being on our honeymoon. The resort was good fun although after 4 nights we were looking forward to moving on to something a little less plastic. The restaurants we tried had good food and good service and we went to see the Extravaganza Show which was cheesy but good for a laugh! The breakfast buffet choice was vast and anything you could possibly want was available although it took time to get tea and toast on occassions and the toast would usually be cold. We rode the Zip Line which was exhilarating, we also took a Hot Air Baloon ride over Pilansberg Park next to Sun City and saw Lion, Elephant, Giraffe and Monkey, a fabulous experience! The Concierge was really helpful and organised all of our trips for us and our air con system wasn't working when we arrived but it was fixed within 2 hours of our complaint. Overall a great hotel with lots of activities on offer."

Lovely hotel with friendly staff and great faciliities
"We spent a weekend at The Cascades with our children who are aged 7 and 8. We had a great time. The kids loved the wave pool and artificial beach where we spent most of our time. Great golf couse - but book in advance if possible, especially if you want a weekend booking, otherwise you often can't get a game. We ate breakfast at the hotel and the food was very good. The service was good too, everyone very helpful. We had a family room which had a sleeper couch for the kids - the rooms were very nice with lovely bathrooms and separate shower. The only negagive as far as the room facilities were concerned was the sleeper couch which had a seriously slope towards the middle so the kids ended up sleeping on top of each other. The bed definitely would not accodmodate two older children. You have to admire the whole Sun City complex for what it is - magnificenly artificial on a large scale, with great facilities and lots to keep kids and adults busy. Would definitely go back again."

"We stayed at the Cascades for 3 nights and were very impressed with the hotel and the standard rooms were well above average, very nicely furnished with lovely bathrooms. The breakfast was excellent. There are two pools, but only one is heated. Our stay fell over a weekend and it seemed the south africans used Sun City as a weekend getaway and the whole resort becomes packed. We would not return to Sun City as its a pretty boring place to be and Pilensberg is not a the best game park in South Africa. The drives were of a high standard and lasted around 3hrs costing around $45 USD each wich was in our opinion good value for money. The transfer from Joberg to Sun City is 2hrs long and very expensive. Its best to book the transfer before arrival directly with one the companies out there rather than using a travel agent. We paid about $167 USD for two one way. We would not return to sun City as its very much a small man made resort and does not represent Africa in any way at all. Its a small time copy of Vegas, only that Vegas is spectacular and Sun City is not. Stay at a lodge at Kruger and experience a real safari with all the sounds, smell and food. We were advised by our travel agent to skip Sun City and now wish we had taken that advice."

Great place to visit
"We were on a two week tour round SA and spent the first 3 nights in the Cascades Hotel at Sun City. We enjoyed it so much we are already planning on going back and spending more time there. The hotel itself was great with the standards of service reflecting the fact that this is probably the number 1 resort in Africa. The facilities both at the hotel and within the entire Sun City complex were second to none - golfers would love the place with one world class championship course and one further course right on your doorstep. The resort is entirely man-made and the attention to detail is superb, the valley of the waves is well worth a visit as are the "jungle" walks in the grounds above the valley. Unfortunately we were there in July so while the weather was beautiful it was a bit too cold to go swimming - this didn't stop some hardy souls though! We did a game drive through Pilansberg and were very lucky in seeing elephant, rhino, giraffe and loads of plains game like wildebeest, springbok and zebra. No big cats unfortunately but it's always the luck of the draw with these things. There is plenty to do at Sun City and if you wanted to get it all in I'd recommend 4 or 5 nights. From beauty treatments, to tours round the Palace hotel for those of us mortals who can't stretch our budgets that far, to the highest, fastest, longest zip slide in the world for the adrenalin junkies it's got everything. (Yes I did do the zip slide and yes I'd do it again). Well worth visiting"

Would definitely stay here again
"We stayed at the Cascades for 6 nights for the first leg of our honeymoon and we were not disappointed. The rooms were lovely, the service was brilliant and the food was fab. We had a look around the Palace while we were there and have to say that it was a little OTT for us and so would definitely stay at the Cascades again."
