"We were disappointed with the level of service offered at this hotel which looks so good online. The foyer is large and impressive with plenty of "men in suits" but the staff seemed poorly trained and disorganised. All our meals were buffet style and it was difficult to attract staff to serve coffee or clear plates. When we decided to eat outside by the pool we had to chase up a waiter to take our order, which took a long time to arrive, and on one occasion we were given the menu but no-one ever came back to serve us. Although there was plenty of choice the food was not good and was rarely labelled to show what was under the covers. Staff doing the cooked breakfasts were poorly trained and could not produce a decent omelette or poached egg causing long queues to build up. There are no outside toilets or showers so after using the pool bathers need to walk back through the dining area to reach the toilets. The beach opposite the hotel is not good for swimmers but local buses take you in to Camp Bay or to the Waterfront. "

"We stayed for 3 nights whilst holidaying with Virgin Holidays in June 2005. We found the location of the Hotel to be perfect for visiting all the places in Cape Town that we wanted to see. V&A is about 7 mins drive from the Hotel and the Hotel will either order a taxi, or arrange for a driver to chauffeur you, in the Hotel's BWM for around 70 rand. Taxis back cost a little less, around 50 rand. We ate at Mortons in the V&A and can highly recommend this establishment, for excellent service and delicious food. Camps Bay is only 5 mins away from the Hotel and offers some excellent places to eat and be seen. Can recommend the Blues Bar, which is frequented by the likes of the Beckhams and Sting. Food here seems expensive for South Africa, but is excellent and a mere fraction of what we'd pay in England. The staff at the Hotel are extremely friendly and are constantly looking to make your stay comfortable. I have to say, I've never seen cleaner toilets than those in the Hotel. Rooms, although small are clean and well maintained. Food at the Hotel, wasn't brilliant and eating out is probably the best option when visiting Cape Town. Cape Town itself is very big and we can recommend a trip to both Stellenbosch and its surrounding areas, if you like wine. And a trip to Cape point is a must. Both can be arranged by the Hotel, although we'd had our trips pre-arranged as part of our Holiday. One word of caution...the Hotel will exchange Travellers Cheques at the Reception, however the rate is only around 9 rand to the Â£. There are Banks about 10 mins walk from the Hotel if you're feeling brave. We visited one and it took around 20 mins to get our money, due to the extra security getting into the Bank and the speed of the service. Good Hotel, Good service, Good Location...Fantastic City and Country!"
