Riad Les Trois Palmiers El Bacha
10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Perfect Perfect location within minutes of the famous Jeema-El-Fna square the riad offers unique rooms tastfully decored, After a full days in Marrakesh you just want to go back to this peacefull Riad and enjoy the nice view of the city with a glasse or wine. We stay 4 days in March and had the chance to have breakfast on the terrace, what a great start of the day, breakfast was simple but different every days We arrange a pick up at the time of the reservation it's so needed to find your way at first, after that it's easy, and like Patrick say we never lost a guest yet so I don't anticipate you to be the first one :) ... This is a traditional guest house beautifully restored by the owner Patrick and his wife with beautifull morrocan taste. The staffs is very nice, always a smile and make you fell like at home. Patrick gives us very good instructions on how to get around and best place to visit and where to eat the best recommandation was Number 99 in the square. If you like/love fish do not miss it it's always pack only local eat their so you won't be assle and won't pay the tourist price either, it's was very cheap and excellent. And if you have enough of the Souks or just fancy a quite afternoon off the sun I would recommend you to book an afternoon with Dalia for a (simple, relaxing cooking class) Enjoy couple of hours in the Kitchen she will teach you how to cook a traditional CouCous or Tajine how to use spices and a bit of the life in Morroco. Would recommend to anyone"

A calm oasis
"Having spent our first few days in Marrakech at the Sofitel, we then moved to Riad Les Trois Palmiers and were not disapointed! Each room is beautifully decorated aound a central courtyard complete with splashpool on the ground floor and a sunlounge on the roof terrace which gives you great views of the Atlas Mountains. It would be useful to be able to speak french (which we can't) but all the staff and the owners were extremely helpful at all times. Also ring before you arrive so one of the staff can meet you at the end of road as we tried to fing our own way there with no luck at all! It is located down a really dark, small alley with no signposting and we found ourselves having to rely on some locals to take us there which was a bit worrying. Also you cannot pay by credit or debit card so you need to remember to have enough cash as you can only tksae out some much each day from the ATMs."

Out of the world experience
"We had an excellent 3 days in riad les trois palmiers. The riad gave us an authentic experience of Marrakech and the medina. The owners Patrick and Caroline as well as all the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and concerned. Our 10 year old daughter felt a lot at home and was happy we chose this riad. The breakfast was wonderful and was served in the beautiful terrace. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We would love to go back there soon..."

"We choose this Riad because of all the great reviews on Tripadvisor but we were a bit disappointed. The staff were helpful but it was more impersonal than we expected and most of the time we felt a bit uncomfortable. The hamam was broken when we stayed and there didn't seem to be any internet access as had been indicated on the website. The place is beautiful and the rooms are well decorated if a bit worn down. The terrace is lovely and the evening meal was very good but lacked a bit of atmosphere. It's a good location and there's no noise from outside... just inside the riad so it depends on who else is staying whether you have a peaceful stay. We found it expensive for what we got."

Perfect Riad, Great Experience
"We stayed here for 3 nights about 2 week ago - it was our first time in Marrakech. The Riad is beautiful, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and so welcoming. I cannot say enough good things about them. They provided a convenient taxi service to and from the airport (or in our case, to the train station), and one of the staff will guide you to the Riad (as its location is on pedestrian-only streets). We were given a tour of the house with traditional Moroccan architecture, and afterwards a quick orientation to the city over mint tea. He even drew us an easy-to-follow map from the Riad to other major locations, with plenty of landmarks (as I departed, repeating "left, left, right"). The location was perfect. It was about a 10 minute walk to Jemaa al Fna, about the same to Ben Youssef, and just minutes to the souks. We pretty much walked everywhere (except we took a caleche, or horse-drawn carriage, to the Majorelle Garden - which I highly recommend). Every morning when we walked out, we felt we were in the heart of things. But at the same time, the Riad is set just a few streets back from the "hustle and bustle", so every night felt like we had a relaxing home to get away from it all: no noise, very peaceful. Every morning included a delicious breakfast. The room was comfortable, clean, and equipped with A/C, satellite TV, hair dryer, extra large towels (loved them!), and robes. The rooftop terrace has lounge chairs and couches with tables for outdoor relaxing. The ground floor has 2 living rooms that branch off the main area, as well as a small pool (for taking a dip to cool off during hotter days). The main area is where you can eat meals, as well as lounge on sofas while having drinks or tea. The wireless internet signal is weak here, however, so we took our laptop down a short hallway to the other Riad's living room (this Riad is connected to another that are both owned by the same people). This was the perfect place, and definitely contributed to making our first experience in Marrakech a great one. I highly recommend Riad Les Trois Palmiers, and I hope to go back one day."

A spectacularly beautiful riad!
"My husband and I spent a lovely relaxing night (and following day) at this riad to celebrate my husband's birthday. Wanting to give him a really special experience, I booked the Saadienne suite, which did not fail to live up to my expectations and the gorgeouos photos I'd seen on the web site. The riad was restored about 1 and a half years ago- a project that took over two years to cpmplete and it has been restored to a truly amazing standard. The level of detail in the carvings on the celings is exquisite as are the finishes on the walls, the pillars, the woodwork and the mosaics. The riad has a million and one little corners where you can find a moment of peace and tranquillity - all beautifully decorated and furnished with such attention to detail and in keeping with original Moroccan style. The riad has two lovely traditional pool areas which, although fairly small, we would have made full use of (had it been the height of summer) and a terrace area where we were able to lie out and enjoy the sun. We decided to have my husband's birthday dinner at the riad itself, having heard that the food was of a high quality. We were not at all disappointed. We were given our own secluded area on the terrace complete with our own personal waiter and enjoyed a very romantic evening and delicious culinary experience. The riad offers fantastic value - with a good variety of drinks and snacks at really reasonable prices. As we had an evening flight, they even let us stay in our suite until we left for the airport at 5pm - and at no extra charge! The staff were fantastic - the owners very knowledgeable about Marrakech and incredibly warm and welcoming. Our wish really was their command! Both my husband and I had a wonderful experience at Riad les Trois Palmiers and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any fellow travellers to Marrakech."

Magical Place with 5 star service
"I stayed here for 3 nights in March 2010 with my boyfriend. We had no reservation and Patrick gave us an excellent welcome and made us feel at home offering us tea and pastries. He gave us loads of excellent advice also. I cannot reccommend this Riad highly enough in terms of the atmosphere, decor, service, setting, food, value for money, safety etc.......everything was excellent. We had a room on the top floor so we felt like we had the whole roof terrace to ourselves! We had dinner twice in the Riad and it was the best Moroccan food we tasted on our trip. There was so much thought put into the meal - we even had rose petals on our table! The other staff were so friendly and kind - Patrick really knows how to run the Riad. Check out the Cafe Arrabe nearby for drinks on the roof at sunset! We were sad to leave the Riad Les Trois Palmiers - but definetley want to return. I have reccommended this Riad to all my friends and family."

Superb Riad in a wonderful location
"Amazing and authentic Riad with kind and attentive staff. Patrick and Caroline have created a sea of tranquility in the heart of Marrakesh. The room was very comfortable. The riad has a lovely roof terrace and the building oozes charm. The food provided was excellent and fresh. The location is minutes away from the souks of Marrakesh. The owner is happy to help organise trips that are excellent value. The collection and transfer back to the airport is a welcome touch. The staff are pleased to help at all times. Caught out in the rain a member of staff met us at the taxi with umbrellas. Marrakesh is a '' must visit city full of life and colour''"

Great Riad, wonderfull experience
"My daughter and I stayed five days at the end of January 2009 in the Riad Les Trois Palmiers / El Bacha (they are next to each other and connected). We are from Switzerland and this was our first time in Morocco. We found about the Riad on the Internet. Our experience was wonderful. The Riad is in the heart of the medina, some 15 minutes walk through the souks from Djemma el Fna. It is also within the walking distance to Medersa Ali Ben Yousef (some 10-15 minutes; a must!) and pretty much everything else most people expect to see in Marrakech: Mosque Koutoubia, Palace El-badi, Saadien Tombs, etc. We walked to all these places, which is really the best way to "feel" Marrakech. the Majorelle and Menara Gardens and the new city are a short taxi drive away. The Riads are perfectly placed to explore the city. The neighborhood of the Riads is very quiet and safe, yet you are just few steps from the shops and excitement of the souks. Patrick (the owner? manager?) was very kind and helpful. Besides the breakfast, we opted to have dinner each evening in the Riad and that was an excellent decision: the food was delicious, atmosphere very relaxed, the stuff very courteous and helpful, the cooks the first class, and yet everything was affordable. The rooms were excellent, comfortable, spacious, spotlessly clean, as was the whole Riad. Patrick organized for us a car for a day trip to Essaouira and the driving through Marrakech was another unforgettable experience. The Riads have great roof tops with chairs, tables and plants, and are very nicely decorated, You can see the whole city from there, the Atlas (weather permitting) and it is a great place to spend an evening when tired from the sightseeing. The transport from and to the airport was organized by Patrick, so we did not have to worry about that. I warmly recommend the Riads Les Trois Palmieres and El Bacha and if we again go to Marrakech (which we hope to do) we will certainly stay there again. I'll be happy to give more information about the Riads and Marrakech."
