A charming, friendly, relaxing oasis in a quiet corner of exotic Marrakesh

"My wife and I just returned from an eight-day stay in this very tastefully renovated and decorated, well run riad located in a quiet lane of ancient Marrakesh. We found it convenient to most of the city's sights and were completely charmed by the owners and creators of this masterpiece, Joelle and Laurent, as well as their site manager, Mounia. The breakfasts were copious and delicious. The tajines that we had on three evenings were prepared to order for us and elegantly served in a semi-private setting. Mounia and Fatima accommodated our every wish, escorting us to the neighborhood hammam, providing a cooking demonstration for us, attending to our laundry, arranging for transportation and purchasing tajine ingredients for us to bring home on the plane. Joelle and Laurent hosted a Christmas Day evening Champaigne reception for thier guests that was beautifully presented by candlelight. Riad les Orangers d'Alilia is a jewel that I cannot recommend too highly."

"Lovely riad in the southern part of the medina. It was like an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. The rooms were perfect and very clean! The staff were lovely and friendly and the breakfasts were out of this world!"

"We stayed in the Riad for sadly one night. We were warmly welcomed by the French owner with Maroccan Tea and homemade cookies. The setting of the riad is brilliant; heavenly white, with subtle tones of earth colours in a quiet but lively quartier (kasbah) near the center. Quiet nights, and woken by the birdies in the orange trees. Many thanks for a short but unforgettable visit to your riad. We would recommend anyone not to forget staying in this riad visiting Marrakech. Sincerely Yours, B & M, Holland"

"We recently travelled to Marrakesh for 3 days and stayed at this fantastic little Riad. I have nothing but praises for this place. Its owned by a lovely french lady and her husband who greeted us on arrival with tea, drinks and plenty of smiles. The inside of the riad is very light and white - you feel like you've stepped into a little oasis of elegance and good taste. The rooms are spacious and cool with large king size bed and beautiful white sheets. Word of caution, like in most other Riads, there is no door separating the room from the bathroom so be prepared. The other thing to point out is that it can get a little noisy in the alleys in the early morning and you might be woken by screaming kids playing football in near the riad... To us it was not a big deal. The service was excellent, in particular the breakfast, which was served in the sunny white terrase and consisted of a large fruit platter, pancakes, croissants, yogurt, orange juice, lovely coffee and mint tea. Joelle and her staff are really lovely, warm and very helpful, they will direct you wherever you want to go and give you helpful tips. The Riad is located in the Medina which makes it easy to walk to the centre of town. All in all, a little gem in the heart of Marrakech. I could not recommend this place enough. It's really excellent!"

"Just a quick note to confirm all the above comments: this Riad is really worth the visit. It is not far from the Place and indeed it is better as it is calm and away from the confusion. But still easy to access the Place! It has impecable taste, very clean, quiet and above all, a very familiar and intimist scenario. Joelle and her team are really "good people", always giving you tips where to go, how to get to places. Very helpful! Indeed a place to came back!"

"my husband and I stayed here for 2 nights to surprise our friend for her 40th birthday. The service could not have been any better. the rooms were comfortable and clean, the food was good and it was the most beautiful elegant romantic place to stay in. It was about ten to fifteen minutes walk to the square, through some dodgy alleys (having to jump out the way of scooters) but that seems to be normal everywhere in Marrakech! Only downside is the size of the swimming pool. Don't expect to swim in it as such! Joelle will organise a taxi for you from and to the airport if you ask her to and they only take cash at the hotel. Would recommend this guest house if you want a quiet romantic retreat"

"We had an absolutely amazing 2 night stay. The rooms were brilliant so comfortable and sparkling clean. The hosts were like no one we have ever met the most friendly, helpful people ever. Breakfasts were the best we had throughout our stay in Morocco. The house itself although a bit away from the square is a briliant haven to escape back to stylishly decorated a really great place to relax and talk....rugby, wine and morocco! The value for money here is absolutely 2nd to none! Enjoy"
