fantastic place, an oasis in marrakech
"Stayed here with my fiancee over valentines weekend and had an absolutely fantastic time. Michelle and Grant are so friendly and helpful, I really couldn't recommend this place highly enough.
Having spoken to others who have stayed in Marrakech recently, I think the enjoyment of the place really depends on the Riadh you stay in and I think that this place was about as good as it can get.
After a day spent walking round the fascinating, but fundamentally dirty and smelly streets of Marrakech, it was a real bonus to be able to retreat to such a beautiful oasis and be looked after so well. I hope that this place does well because it really deserves to, I would recommend - almost insist - that anyone I knew who was thinking about visiting Marrakech, stayed here - it really is the pinnacle of great hospitality.
To summarise the good points (and there really were no bad points), the place was immaculately clean, beautifully designed (definite wow factor), had great attention to detail, brilliant staff and made you feel totally at home. Thank you Grant and Michelle for a wonderful stay."

Lovely room, wonderful staff... an oasis!
"Riad Assakina was a lovely oasis of calm in the middle of the mayhem of Marrakech. We were greeted on arrival with mint tea and walnut-stuffed dates then given a map of several places of interest to visit including museums, gardens, palaces, restaurants and a local roof-top bar! The riad is beautiful and has practically been rebuilt from the ground up to accommodate the large bedrooms. The décor is stylish and tasteful and locally sourced by the owners.
We had the Almoravid suite â it looks exactly like it does on the website. The large comfortable bed was much appreciated after all the walking we did (donât miss the Majorelle Gardens in the French quarter).
The housekeeper Naoul could not have been more accommodating serving us a vegan cooked breakfast every day and bringing us mint tea and little almond cakes every afternoon. We took the option of eating in the riad on one day and had a delicious lunch on the terrace washed down with a decent bottle of house red. In the evening Mohammed looked after us very well providing us with beer and earl grey tea!
The owners Michelle and Grant have managed to achieve the perfect balance of excellent but non-intrusive service in this beautiful, comfortable haven in the centre of Marrakech. Thanks guys for a very enjoyable much-needed break â we had a fab time!

Beautiful riad with attentive staff in the heart of the Medina
"Our stay in Marrakech was one of the best short breaks we have ever had - largely due to the surroundings of Riad Assakina and the effort that Grant and Michelle made to make sure we had a good time. 3 days was too short - we will definitely return."

Brilliant, Friendly and in the Heart of Marrakech
"Michelle and Grant run an astonishingly elegant riad in the midst of the medina of Marrakech. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and reflect refined elegance. The terraces are stunning as are the views across to the Atlas Mountains. The courtyard with its splash pool harks back to the era of the Sultan reclining with his wives on comfy divans. The staff are obliging, interested and run a tight ship. If you can, try one of the evening meals. The one we had is now in our Top Ten Meals ever. BTW, do not be tempted to buy them a camel as a present. Grant will explain.

An excellent honeymoon experience
"We have just returned from a four night stay at Riad Assakina for our honeymoon. Couldn't have imagined a more relaxing, luxurious and friendly place to stay and we had a fantastic time, despite the miserable weather.
As others have already mentioned, the service and attention to detail is excellent and the breakfasts were great and really set us up for a day exploring the souks. The advice on local sights and haggling from the owners Michele and Grant was really helpful and made things a lot easier.
We would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this Riad."

What a wonderful place to stay
"My wife and I arrived from Ireland after an early start and were both a little tired. We were given a wonderful welcome by owners Grant and Michelle and invited to relax with them and tell them our priorities for the holiday ,over a nice glass of refreshing mint tea and some gorgeous dates served by the lovely efficient Noelle.Michelle gave us maps and all of the information as we needed it daily over the week we stayed.
The entire Riad is just beautiful and is a credit to their taste and dedication to getting things just perfect alright is not an option here perfection is the only acceptable standard for Michelle and Grant.
The bedrooms were large and very comfortable as for the roof terrace one would never want to leave it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Morocco,we visited many beautiful hotels and restaurants for lunch and dinner but were always happy to return to the wonderful peace ,tranquility and comfort of Riad Assakina and the welcome home of Grant and Michelle and Mohammad who looked after our every need in the eveningtime. Thanks to you all.Carol & Desmond"

The BEST place to stay in Marrakesh
"Following recommendations from friends, we chose to stay at Riad Assakina for this short trip. We were not disappointed! The Riad is run by Michele and her lovely partner, Grant. Nothing is too much trouble for them - we arrived with a shopping list of specific items we wanted to buy and commission (a pierced metal lamp). Michele again took us to her trusted suppliers and helped us negotiate prices and deadlines so that everything went smoothly.
They also gave us recommendations on where to eat & drink; all of which were spot on. One night we ate at the Riad and had an absolutely delicious Moroccan meal. The breakfasts & afternoon tea are also gorgeous.
This Riad is absolutely beautiful, superbly appointed, spotlessly clean and in a great location - within walking distance of everything you might want to see in the Medina, but down a side street so it's quiet and peaceful inside. However, it's greatest plus point is the service from Michele, Grant & the Riad staff. Don't bother staying anywhere else!"

Riad Assakina - a perfect hideway in the Medina!
"Just returned from a 4 night stay at Riad Assakina. Situated 10 mins walk frm the main square, this cosy riad ticks all the boxes for an exotic city break.
The owners Grant and Michele are extremenly welcoming and knowledgeable. Their tips for shopping in the souks, visiting the right hamman, dining out in local restaurants and bars as well recommending day trips out of the city are invaluable. The other staff are wonderful and always similing and helpful. This kid of personal service is a rare experience these days and one that will make me return.
We booked the Berber Room on the ground floor which was perfect for a short stay, our only comment would be the sound proofing issue with adjoining room but this is being dealt with as I write the review. The room is decorated tastefully and to a high standard as is the whole riad.
The breakfast is plentiful and delicious, the views from the roof terrace wonderful and if only we had stayed longer we would have sampled the in-house cuisine too! So much to do so much to see never enough time but surely we will return!"

"As many people have already mentioned this is truly a beautiful Riad, with very friendly and highly attentive staff to boot (Mohammed warrants special mention - he was always particularly kind and eager to please). Combined with its very reasonable pricing I would not hesitate in recomending this Riad to anyone.
However I should mention a few very minor negatives:
1. The hot water in our shower only lasted for a very brief period, and would require a wait of at least 15 minutes before it would resume.
2. On our day of departure we were asked to check out by 11am as opposed to your typical noon check out time.
3. While we were very pleased with our room (the Berber Room), there is a slight privacy issue as it opens directly into the main lounge area, and is not especially sound-proof.
Of course, these are minor quibbles. Other than that, can't really go wrong with this Riad."

"This is the first time we have felt compelled to write a review on trip advisor. We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Riad Assakina and cannot praise it enough. The service, standards, attention to detail and friendliness of the owners Grant and Michelle and staff far surpassed our experiences of many a 5 star hotel. Never have we been so welcomed or looked after. If this is not enough the riad is perfectly placed for sight seeing and there are a number of excellent restaurants close by. There was not one thing that we could fault.
We would highly recommend this riad and look forward to returning ourselves.
