You must stay here
"We travelled to Marrakesh for my 40th birthday. Having travelled the world extensively and seeing many hotels we loved the idea of staying in a Riad, and we were not disappointed! I'm sure there are many that are more luxurious, but Dar Rocmarra hit the spot for us. Amazingly clean and decorated beautifully the Riad is stylish and yet homely. Places to read your books or hang out with a cup of mint tea or a sun downer on the roof terrace. The breakfasts were fabulous - love the fig jam with fresh local breads. The staff were fabulous, really unobtrusive and yet available 24/7, Jamilia (the housekeeper) cooked for us one evening and it was the food highlight of our trip. She had set a beautiful table and the food was spectacular - all local with fresh ingredients - she shops then cooks to order. Location wise - once you are orientated the location is perfect for hitting the souks or the night market, a nice 5-10minute walk through Morroccan life to get there. We will return to stay at Dar Rocmarra, maybe see you there... Try the Hamman massage recommended by Jamilia - absolute treat."

Just the right riad..
"Stayed in Marrakesh for a week in September in four different Riads, to experience the unique charm of each. We instantly felt relaxed and comfortably at home at Dar Rocmarra. On arrival we were served Moroccan mint tea + biscuits in the courtyard seating area before being shown to the Douria Suite, which was a fantastic size with everything we needed (bottled water, hairdryer, etc). Bedlinen, towels + bathrobes were new, clean, crisp, fluffy + sweet smelling! The staff (English speaking) really couldn't be faulted - helpful + extremely attentive without being intrusive (including the 2 resident chameleons!). Jamila (the housekeeper) sat down with us + talked us through a map of the medina, giving recommendations of what to see + do. We then arranged to eat dinner in the Riad that evening - the table was beautifully set + the food was delicious (homemade dessert pastillas were top notch)! The decor was just right with everything finished nicely. The location was ideal and we being two girls felt extremely safe in Dar Rocmarras neighbourhood (some Riads are not so ideally located!) We booked this Riad on the back of Trip Advisor reviews, perhaps a risk considering there were only 8 reviews at the time, but we personally couldn't fault Dar Rocmarra. We later found that the shortage of reviews was due to the staff leaving it to guest discretion to review, as opposed to some Riads who make it mandatory. We were sad to leave the riad after 2 nights and really do mean it when we say that we would stay here again one day!"

Cool, peaceful and an oasis of calm
"We booked Dar Rocmarra through Fleewinter who were excellent. The riad arranged pick up from the airport and the driver was quiet, patient and courteous, it made arriving in such a different place so much easier. The area that Dar Rocmarra is situated is brilliant, allthough it is close to the souks and the centre of the medina, it is in a quieter area with some nice shops and very near the food souks in Rue Dad Doukahla. The taxi drop off point is only a couple of minutes away. We felt very safe in this location. The staff at the Riad were very attentive and caring. They were always willing to advise and arrange things but they also gave us plenty of privacy. The accomodation was much better and our room more spacious than the photos showed. The whole riad was very quiet and cool and we did not really need the air conditioning even when the temperature was over 30 outside. When we arrived the beds were all decorated in arrangements of rose petals. The sheets and towels were delightfully crisp and clean and they were changed daily. All the staff were kind and attentive and Jamilla spoke excellent English. She also cooked fantasic meals, as good as any restaurant in Marrakech. I would particularly recommend the Pastillsas. The courtyard, sitting area and the room terrace were all clean and well set out. Our 9 year old son was made to feel welcom and he enjoyed looking at the chameleons in the olive tree. There were lots of lovely songbirds and the sound of trickling water from the water featue in the wall made it a relaxing and tranquil loccation, seemingly miles from the hustle and bestle of the busy city. I would recommend this place to anyone for location, service and quality of accomodation."

Heavenly..even with a 4 year old!
"Myself,my hubby and our 4 year old son stayed at Dar Rocmarra in December 2008 and it was amazing! We were really lucky to be the only guests and so had the run of this incredibly stylish, luxurious and cosy riad. It's hard to know where to start..! We had the Berber room which is beautiful with the best bed I've ever slept in. (Note to owners: Why no photos of the rooms on the website? The bedrooms and bathrooms are amazing! You're not doing yourselves justice!) . Our son had a little bed already made up for him and there was ample space. The room itself was beautifully-decorated in keeping with the tasteful decor throughout the house. Great lighting makes it feel incredibly welcoming too. The shower is huge and hot water plentiful. My only thing would be that it would be nice if there was a curtain to divide the bathroom from the bedroom but the riad had only just opened then so they've probably sorted that now. Otherwise, everything was beautiful and peaceful which is important after yet another enchanted, energetic evening in the D'Jema El Fna! Breakfast was fantastic...home-made pancakes, buns and butter (!) and great to eat on the roof checking out the amazing view plus the pigeon fancier's coop next door! (Was a bit cold so I'd advise you to bring your woolies though the rooms had very good heating). Our son loved both "our house" and Jamilla , her sister and the lovely young man who also works there. They were incredibly helpfull and friendly and seemed to genuinely like there being a child about which is not always the experience we've had in smaller hotels. Among other things (such as helping us organise a rental car),Jamilla the housekeeper, booked us a session in a really beautiful hamman and my only regret was that, having got all relaxed, I wished I'd thought to arrange dinner at the riad afterward as she is a wicked cook too! All in all highly recommended for families, a romantic interlude or intrepid solo travellers looking for a bit of luxury. In retrospect (Morocco is no longer cheap!) the rates are also very reasonable for a family of 3 as the sheer luxury of the house and service is comparable to a 5-star hotel!"

The Greatest Way To Visit Marrakech
"Dar RocMarra is the perfect place to feel that you are in Marrakech and at home at the same time. Jamila, the housekeeper, is constantly anticipating your needs and taking care of everything in a lovely way, not to mention her awesome skills in the kitchen. Cozy ambient, impecably clean rooms and great service for a reasonable price. The best: a beautiful roof terrace where one has the possibility to have breakfast/lunch or just chill out."

Fantastic location, staff, service and amazing rooms !
"We were so lucky to find Dar Rocmarra.......I am not sure that I should write a positive review as it may become too popular and we might not be able to get back in there !!! But I owe it to those of you, like me, that read these reviews to be as honest as possible......We arrived to a homecooked meal of fresh ingredients - cooked by the ever wonderful Jamila. When shown to our room we were overwhelmed by the architecture and attention to detail that the owners had invested into the place. The bathrooms are something to behold and our room boasted an open fire and enough candles to make it truly romantic. Throughout our stay our every requirement was catered for including Taxi, excursion and restaurant bookings. We have stayed at a two One and Only resorts and several Four Seasons and this small Riad is right up there with them on service and cleanliness. Location-wise you are less than 2 minutes from the bustiling streets of the Medina and there are a couple of very good restaurants 200 yards from your front door. But once inside the Dar Rocmarra you feel as if you are in your own little oasis of tranquility. At the end of a hard day bartering with the locals you can unwind with a glass of something on the roof terrace.......try the Moroccan Red (chilled !!!) its very good value and a chilled Red in the heat really works. Would I go back - absolutely ! The only, and I mean only criticism of the place is that the web-site pictures DON'T do it justice - not a bad criticism !"

Culture, excitement and relaxation in Marrakesh
"We had a long weekend in Marrakesh, and were so immersed in the culture and relaxed at our riad - we felt we'd been away for at least a week! The staff at Dar Rocmarra were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They organised trips, booked restaurants ( and told us which served alcohol), and the food they cooked was far better than anything we ate elsewhere. The rooms were homely and Morrocan in style - and the riad was about a 15 minute stroll to the main square Jemma el Finna, and a few minutes from the souks. It was such good value, we will definatly be back. We booked via Fleewinter who were also very helpful, and organised a days walking in the Atlas mountains - with a guide taking us into the mountains and through 4 villages which was a fascinating insight into rural life. If you want to get away and experience something very different to our way of life - Marrakesh and Dar Rocmarra is perfect."

"My partner and I went to Marrakesh for the first time this year and we can't wait to go back! It's such a beautiful and vibrant city! And the food is wonderful... Dar Rocmarra is beautiful and so clean! And the service was just perfect. The rooms are also lovely ( there are rose petals everywhere). The only trouble I had was with the limited hanging space, but as my partner says: I have trouble traveling light. What I liked best about the riad was that it was so peaceful and quiet. After a long day walking in the bustle of the city you can come back to an oasis of calm. I highly recomend it!"

Jamila is a great cook
"We arrived at Dar Rocmarra on a damp and chilly January evening. Our room was toasty warm and Jamila, the housekeeper offered us a meat ball tagine for supper. We are regular visitors to Marrakech and usually eat out, but on this occasion I think she read our minds. With no prior notice she presented us with a fresh salad and a supper that just hit the mark perfectly. We so enjoyed her cooking that a couple of nights later we made a point of eating in and she prepared a slow roast shoulder of lamb which was sensational. She had strewn rosepetals around the courtyard and found a huge candleabra to light our table. We were in Marrakech on business but it felt like a honeymoon. Our room was spotless, lovely crisp white sheets and pretty decor. All the staff were exceptional, including the nightwatchman. The riad is newly renovated and in very good order. Once the pot plants grow and the newly planted shrubs mature it will be even prettier. Highly recommended."

lucky find !
"We stayed at Dar Rocmarra after stumbling across a sign for it in the dar el bacha area of the medina,an area we love and have stayed near before,we had to move from our other riad as they could not accomodate us for 2 extra days. Dar Rocmarra was wonderful, with the cleanest crispest sheets and towels ever !We discovered that it had only been open for a week, the housekeepers Jamilla and Lettifer were lovely, they almost insisted we had lunch and were obviously keen to impress as we had possibly the best Morrocan food we have had on our many trips to Marrakech, this place will surely get very busy,we were given a tour of the rooms (we were the only guests !) all were beautiful and all different, the dourria suite is enormous and a great place to spoil someone in !The owners are apparently english,if you read this your web-site does'nt do you justice,we will be back soon. p.s. the stuffed vegetables, fantastic !"
