Fantastic Riad in heart of Medina, Fez
"Charming Riad right in the centre of the old medina. We arrived at the train station and were met by a taxi driver holding a sign with our names on it, who took us as close to the Riad as he could by car, and walked us the remaining distance to the Riad himself. On arrival we were given mint tea and biscuits! Our room was fantastic - very roomy, great moroccan decor and large bathroom with bath and most importantly, loads of hot water!! The very friendly riad staff arranged a guided tour for us for the next day and were accommodating with all our queries. Breakfast was great. Even though we checked out as planned after one nights stay we were allowed to store our luggage at the riad for the day and were even allowed to use the internet in the reception! (Wi-fi is also available here, free of charge). We were allowed to hang out at the riad awaiting our overnight train and were even given tea and biscuits while we waited! The price was very reasonable. The riad is situated close to loads of restaurants - fantastic location."

"Very nice Riad in the medina (old town) but still easy to find in one of the two main streets coming from the newer part of Fez. But still some hundred meters to walk in the car-free old town.
The decoration is impressive and the more expensive rooms upstairs can be worth to pay more. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Can be a bit scary to walk around in the nights."

Good value in Fes
"When looking for a place to stay in Fes, the first thing you will find is that every riad and hotel is very expensive. I eventually came accross Riad Hala which is great value in Fes. It looks uninviting from the street and reception, but once inside it is great. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are spacious (except the cheapest room, which is tiny, but cosy), all fitted out with a/c for summer, but for us the heating for this cold winter was great. The building itself is 17th century and has been restored with out too much change... most of the original building is still very much in tact. The view from the terrace is amazing - being the highest point of the medina, it is very good for an initial orientation, or to relax after a day in the medina. The riad itself is in a fantastic location, 2 minutes walk from the main gate of the riad, and right on the main pedestrian walkway through town (Talaa Kebira) - so perfect for not getting lost in such a maze of a medina like in Fes. The hotel has complimentary wifi, and great mint tea served all day. Kacem, the manager is very friendly and very obliging towards his guests."
