"Because of a sudden change of a hotel we ended in Villa de l'à while visiting Essaouira in November 2008. What a stroke of luck it was! Villa de l'Ã, in an old riad, had been opened just a few months earlier. Situated inside the old medina, next to the gate Bab Sebaa, very near the tourist information office, it offered a fantastic view to the sea from the top floor terrace, while having your breakfast and enjoying sunshine and the calm of the sandy bay. The soul of the hotel, multilingual Céline Collière, had created an atmosphere which at the same time being cosy and exotic. The interior decoration was magnificent and impressive. The staff was attentive and tactful, service excellent. The price/quality-ratio is good. The visitors have a possibility to enjoy the variety of hammams. Close to the hotel starts the lively souks of the medina, somewhat more sophisticated, the traders kept their distance which was a relief after Marrakech. Essaouira is easy to go on foot, friendly for the elderly. The old port with local small seafood grills was a colourful and delicious experience, as well as the stylish modern restaurant "After 5" (7 rue Youssef el Fassi) which offered an interesting menu, mixed French and Moroccan kitchen.
