10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
Riad Remmy is exactly the place we hoped to find - simple, tasteful, and with delightful hosts.
"We tried to book another riad, but they were full and directed us to Riad Remmy. We are so glad they did! It is a lovely, friendly place to stay, run by English expats who strike a perfect balance between connecting with the local scene and making you feel at home. Sandra, the manager, is extremely helpful. She met us at the bus, gave us tea on the roof, and then took us on a walking tour of town to show us all the good spots. She gave us great tips on where to eat and directed us to the community hammam, one of the highlights of our trip. The rooms are tasteful, the beds are comfortable, breakfast was delicious and the roof terrace is a lovely spot for a glass of wine in the evening. Just watch out for Oli the tiny tortoise!"

Riad Remmy is charming, tasteful, clean, comfortable and well located.
"My daughter and I stayed at Riad Remmy for three nights and had a wonderful time. Sandra met us at the bus, showed us the town and made wonderful recommendations on what to do and where to go. Also some very good restaurant suggestions. The riad is a lovely place to take a break at any time of day and we had some enjoyable social times on the roof terrace with other guests. There are kitchen facilities available if you wanted to cook, an honour system bar and delicious breakfast served every morning. I cannot imagine anyone not enjoying their stay at this riad. Thank you Sandra for making our stay in Essaouira a great one."

A lovely, friendly riad
"My friend and I got off the coach from Marrakech on a rainy morning with no where to stay when we met Sandra and Stuart and thank god we did. We were welcomed with a good English cuppa and the hospitality and warm welcome went from there. The Riad is beautiful, I stayed in a few different ones during m'y trip but this was by far the best, both the Riad and the value for money. Sandra and Stuart couldn't have been more helpful, we got a guided tour of Essaouira, a map sign posted with the best restaurants and spots in town and tea on tap. If you are looking for a comfortable, stylish, friendly and relaxed place to escape to I couldn't recommend this place any more - i'll be going back as soon as I can."

Calm in the Chaos
"Stuart and Sandra run a great little Riad here. Took Stuart's offer to check the place out after getting off the bus and found the place really nice. Good sized roof terrace and plenty of space with the rooms and separate kitchen facilites. Plenty of great chats around lunchtime on the roof and in the evenings around the fire. This place is just off the main street and comes with everything you'll need. they even have an honesty book so you can borrow beer, wine and water if you have run out. Very homely and a good base to explore along the coast."

"Riad Remmy is in the heart of the historic walled Medina, vibrant, colourful and friendly. The riad is a jewel, and the English owners together with help from a friend. have become part of the local community. They went that extra mile and helped us settle in to our beautiful surroundings. Nothing was too much trouble, from breakfast on the roof terrace to acting as a tour guide. Their knowledge of the area and information was invaluable to us, from places to eat or interesting places to visit. The riad was warm, friendly and very clean. Each room was beautifully decorated in a different style We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return. Thank you."

A whole new level of hospitality
"I arrived in Essaouira with a friend who had gotten ill on our travels. Riad Remmy's owner met us at the bus and after settling us in took us on a tour around the Medina. While my friend was in bed 3 days solid, the Remmy crew took me under their wing. Showed us to pharmacies, recommended restaurants and spa's (all AMAZING), and offered a chat over coffee or wine. When speaking to other guests in Riad Remmy, the common theme was "We came to Essa on a day trip & couldn't leave". Sandra works around the lock to make sure your every need is catered for, Stu acts as a well informed guide, and Tracy (with the lovely Remmy in tow) will go to every length to make you feel at home. So for the basics: - The riad is stunningly & traditionally decorated, very clean & has a roof tp terrace that's hard to leave. - The hosts will tell you everything you need to know about Essa, mark all the "must see's" on a local map, and even provide a mini tour on your first day. - Located in the quieter part of the Medina away from the noise, but as Essa is so tiny you can walk to the action in around 2mins. We will definately be back sooner rather than later!"

"Spend 3 nights. The riad is really good, a wonderful welcome! Rooms are really lovely, the riad has been nicely renovated. It's located in the heart of the medina, but it's quite!! Thanks for you're welcome!"

Perfect relaxing Riad in the heart of the old Medina
"I have stayed at Riad Remmy twice. I went back because I loved it so much the first time. The Riad is run by an English couple and friend Sandra who are hospitable, relaxed and extremely helpful. As a solo traveller it was a haven of comfort. I found it hard to leave. It really is a dream place to stay. A short walk to everything but quiet with a great roof top terrace. I also loved that it was in the older, more traditional part of the Medina. A great place to stay in and relax with a good book or stroll to the beach or out for dinner. Personal touches and attention without being imposing. Perfect."

perfect little spot for our honeymoon
"We went to Riad Remmy for three nights on our honeymoon. Sandra who was looking after the riad for the english owners met us from the bus, she was so lovely and looked after all our needs. There was nothing that was too much trouble. The Riad was an oasis in Morocco, and we liked it because it was english run and we felt so at home. The breakfast was really wonderful with fresh fruit, bread and pastries served on the terrace. There was a little kitchen area with an 'honesty book' so we could make tea and coffee etc which was really nice, even had english tea. It is a boutique little spot, really five star."
