Great communal areas let down by poor rooms
"I stayed at the Nakhla for two nights in Dec 07. I was very happy on arrival to be greeted by friendly staff in the lovely spacious foyer area with traditional furnishings. Sadly the room did not reach the same standards. The bathroom was unusable, having a broken shower with various plumbing parts lying around. I was moved to another room by the receptionist, who was embarrassed by the state of affairs but unsurprised. The next room was adequate, though the lavatory broke down after one day and the shower was hot only after being run for about 5 or 10 minutes.
The roof terrace is wonderful, with great views of the sea - but watch out for the marauding gulls."
