Not Worthfull (For Vegetarians)
"Not worthy to stay here at. The worst room service we ever had. the reception staff is soo rigid and rude!!! (except the public relations manager!!! she is real helpful and nice lady). For Pure Vegetarians, its hell. The arrangements on 24th eve was worthless and not even upto mark. Even hotel management is non co-operative in terms of late check outs."

"We booked a family room through Ocean Island Tours. We paid for an all-inclusive stay. We were impressed upon arrival, the hotel is attractively laid out and the staff were very friendly, we were given drinks upon arrival. The family room was a good size, we had the main room with a double bed tv etc and a travel cot. There was a small separate bedroom with 2 single beds for the children. There was another room which had all the wardrobes and a small kitchen. There was a good sized bathroom, with shower only. The room was a good standard apart from some damp in the wardrobes and a damp smell in the small bedroom. There was a problem with the shower when we arrived but on reporting it, was quickly fixed. There is not much entertainment but we knew that before we left. There are 2 pools and towels are available from reception. There is a games room in the basement and there is a sandy area outside for other game playing, equipment available from reception. The staff are really friendly and go out of their way to meet your needs. We were initially given an upstairs room but with a 12 month old in a buggy and 2 other children asked for a downstairs room, which was willingly organised. They also provided a travel cot and bedding. Highchairs were available in the restaurant. The inside restaurant is upstairs so when we had the buggy with us it was easier to eat in the downstairs outside area. The food was the only negative thing about the hotel. It was quite bad. Every occasion one of us ordered chicken it was running with blood. The evening dinner is a buffet and it is all pretty much the same things every night. The quality of the meat used is quite poor. There was little food that the children would eat. There can also be quite a queue for food, but if you leave it a bit later a lot of stuff is gone. The breakfast is the only decent meal. The hotel is quite close to the beach, which is quite nice but as there are a lot of boats there are not many fish and you would need to go further along the coast. Day trips are quite expensive as are taxi's and souvenirs. Overall the hotel offers good value for money and excellent service. If they got a new chef it would be even better."

"On the positive side. The hotel was baby friendly, as we had a 7 month old travelling with us. The staff were very efficient, helpfull and friendly. Drinks on arrival. Excellent location, 5 minutes walk away from beach, shops, police station, bus stop 1 or 2 negatives, walls too thin, we could hear our neighbours chatting at night. The buffet menu has a very small variety Overall we had a pleasant stay and would go there again"

Good Infrastructure with Average Hospitality
"I had planned my Honeymoon in Mauritius and booked the hotel thru a travel agent. My flight arrived late and we were confirmed a dinner but given a cold plate.I had booked a room for a week but was given a appartment.....on my arrival. After a couple of requests..i was given a room the other day. We were promised other goodies as part of the package and the hotel was out of stock for most of them.... Hotel rooms are big and give u energy and it is a 5 min walk to a public beach... I would say that the hotel has good infrastructure but it lacks hospitality the back bone for the service industry. I would not recommend it heavily..it all depends upon the taste. If you are a indian and making your booking thru Makemy trip.com, please think twice before you purchase packages from them. My whole trip was full of shortcomings. I will never recommend Makemytrip to anyone."

Nothing more then simple stay!
"I stayed in this hotel for 3 nites with group of 12 ppl. The first problem was that the hotel staff mainly reception staff was very rude and not at all guest friendly. Food was horrible , the menu of the hotel was same all days & all the times i.e breakfast & dinners. Pool was dirty so none of the guests staying at times never bothered to enter. Hotel never had any activities except one day when they called a girl to sing for hour time. Boiler on the room roof top was badly sounding through out the nite tht it was impossible to sleep. When req the reception there was no help as they had many rooms empty. not at all advised to tke rooms on second floor. Room a/c was getting off by itself after every four minutes which was also not rectified by the hotel staff besides many complaints. It was very boring stayin at this hotel.Never would if think to visit this hotel....."

The best holiay
"I stayed at Le Palmite 2 weeks and it was the best time in my life. This hotel is from five-minuite walk from very beautiful beach. breakfast and dinner were very good. In the hotel were 3 swimming pools and hotel staff was very friendly. We could get beach towels from the hotel. Near the hotel were supermarket and chemist. I liked that trip."

"This was a holiday of a lifetime we were there for 15 days, the hotel was excellent, the food was a buffet breakfast and there was always plenty of fruit and a cooked brekfast but there was a different meal every night Italian,Indian Chinese etc and when and if they were repeated it was same theme but different menu, whilst we were there it was Valentines day and they organised a wonderful meal candlelight for us romantics it was unbeleivable. staff were very good and very friendly greeting every person as if they were family and the rooms were very spacious even bigger than some more expensive hotels we have stayed in. the rooms were kept very clean and nothing was too kuch trouble for the staff if you needed something they would get it for you and even the laundry was same day. sorry but no matter how i try i cannot find fault with the Hotel"

"We went to Le Palmiste for a friend's wedding and stayed there for 2 weeks. At that time the hotel was fairly new but the staff were very accomodating and spendidly friendly and nothing was too much for them. The location is just off the main which is a bonus and a few minutes's walk to the gorgeous Trou aux biches public beach where one can snorkel for hours, the sea is quite calm which is a treat for younger children and you are still a short ride to many other attractiions of the island I gather the hotel has increased in size but only to a small extent. At least it is not over developed and high rise!! All in all this is a fabulous hotel and reasonably priced. Get your arse there!!!"

Trou Aux Biches is a beautiful resort si...
"Trou Aux Biches is a beautiful resort situated in North Mauritius. Although we went over in their winter season which is very changeable the north seems to have better weather than the south. The beaches are absolutely gorgeous; I would say probably the best in Mauritius! The Mauritians are amazing people. They are very welcoming and they know how to make you feel at home. We didn't come across any beggars, which makes a change. Le Palmiste Hotel is lovely. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We were originally given a room on the third floor which was very damp and not welcoming, so we asked to be moved into another room which they did and which was much better. Rooms are very spacious and characteristic but have a slight damp odour which disappears once you put on the air conditioning. Breakfast is great, offering from eggs and bacon to cereal, fresh fruit, and crepes. The restaurant offers a nice selection of dishes if you wish to have lunch there which are very reasonably priced. A buffet is served for dinner with a good choice of dishes. Bring a hairdryer as not all the rooms have one. Make sure you have enough money when it comes to settling your room bill when checking out as the hotel doesn't accept credit cards. Places and things worth visiting and doing: Panoramic view from Trou aux Cerfs, the dormant volcanic crater; Chamarel's seven coloured earths: Sacred Lake of Grand Bassin / Ganga Talao (site of Lord Shiva's temple); National park of the Black River Gorges; Guided visit of Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens; Shopping in Grand Baie; Ile de Deux Cocos (Two Coconut Island) where you can go on the glass bottom boat and snorkel. Only 70 people allowed on the island at any one time. Here there is a villa which can be rented together with the whole island for 24 hours for 2500 Euros! Very tempting! Trou Aux Biches offers lots of water sports such as inflatable rings, paragliding and snorkelling. Snorkelling and a trip on a glass bottom boat is a must as the coral reef is spectacular! If you fancy a treat go to Le Capitaine which is a fish restaurant situated in Grand Baie. It's a bit expensive but the fish is exquisite and worth it! Mauritius is absolute paradise and worth visiting over and over again! Can't wait to go back and we've only be back a day!"

"13 of us stayed here October 2006. We went to Mauritius for a family wedding. The wedding was actually held at the Maritim a few miles away, but the reception was on Trou Aux Biches beach. Some of our relatives stayed at the Sakoa which is about 5 minutes walk away. The Palmiste was much friendlier than the Sakoa. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice from English eggs & Bacon, cereals, fruit, pancakes & yogurts. The staff were wonderful. Our rooms were spotless, big & very comfortable, with TV, hairdryer, fridge & kettle. There were two swimming pools with a small section for children. The hotel was building a spa & beauty salon which was very near completion when we were there. The location of the hotel is within easy access to the wonderful beach about 5minutes walk the bus stop is also about 5 minutes. There are a few restaurants within walking distance if you don't want to eat in the hotel. There is also a general store & chemist close to the hotel. The nearest big shopping area is in Grande Baie, which is easy to reach by bus or taxi which were 250 Mauritian rupees into Grande Baie, there were 67MR aprox to £1 in Oct 2006. Mauritius is a lovely friendly place it's a shame it's such a long flight!"

"We went to Trou Aux Biches, Mauritius for my Daughters Wedding. 13 of us were booked at Le Palmiste as it was the cheaper option of all the Hotels in the Area. We were all pleasently surprised by the quality & friendlyness of the Palmiste. The rooms were large & very clean. There was a TV, Fridge & kettle in all our rooms. There are 2 large pools, one with a kids section. The breakfast was plentiful with plenty of choice. All the staff at the hotel were helpful & made us all very welcome. The beautiful beach is a 5 minute walk. There is a small supermarket also about 5 minutes walk away. There are a couple of very cheap restaurants within easy walking distance. I would not hesitate to recommend Le Palmiste."
