10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Stayed at Ashnill on the 2nd night of our safari ( JT safaris ) and just loved the place.
Food was excellent and the rooms were lovely, bathroom facility's were top notch.
As in all lodges the power goes off at midnight so it does get a little warm should you wake.
Views are fantastic. We were lucky enough to see 2 lions at the watering hole when we left, with Warthogs, Zebras and one Jackal in the queue but the Lions were not going anywhere!!
I would highly recommend a night or two at Ashnill."

"We stayed at Aruba Lodge for one night of our 2 night Tsavo East/West safari. The lodge is immaculate. The staff are more than welcoming. The food was very good. I loved the room we stayed in although the quilt was a little warm! The security men insist on walking you back to your lodge at night shining a torch on the path to avoid the bugs but we never saw any."

"We arrived at the lodge after a long, hot drive from Mombasa and an exiting, rewarding safari through the game park en route. The lodge was a welcome sight. Atfer 'freshening up' we were served a delicious buffet lunch overlooking the plain.
There was time to relax by the pool with Elephants and Zebras in the distance before setting off for the evening safari, an unforgettable experience. We watched the sun setting over the Samburu Hills with Giraffe forming silhouettes in the fading light.
Dinner was accompanied by Francis and John entertaining us with their hospitality, songs and providing traditional dress to keep us warm in the breeze!
We had an early start the following day in the hope of seeing lions and cheetahs, and indeed, I'm delighted to say were rewarded for the early start.
Overall, the lodge was ideally situated. The facilities were more than comfortable. The staff were most helpful, courteous and charismatic.
Overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here at the Asnil Aruba Lodge.
A truly breathtaking experience."

"Stayed at this lodge for just one night, on an overnight stay in Tsavo East Park.
When we arrived the staff were very couteous and greeted us with cold towels and drinks.
We were shown to our rooms and the attendant ran though how to work everything in the room.
Rooms were of a good standard- bathrooms were very nice. Everything was clean and pretty new.
Food at the lodge was good. Everything was fresh and there was a pretty good selection.
The swimming pool looked pretty nice, we didnt use it, but it had a nice view of the wild animals but the fence.
The only slight downside was that there is no entertainment at the lodge at all (TV, animation etc) but I suppose you cant really expect this in the middle of a national park.
Lodge was located quite far in to the park, on our way out it took about an hour and a half to get to the gates."

An Amazing Experience
"We booked a safari through JT safaris and chose to stay at Aruba lodge on the 2nd night. The place was amazing!!
On arrival we were greeted by lots of staff who were extremely helpful and very welcoming. Reception area beautifully kept with lovely sofas, coffee tables etc all around. The food was also lovely. Lunch was a buffet style with lots of options including freshly carved meat. Dinner was a la carte when we were there and this was also lovely. Breakfast had a huge selection, including freshly cooked pancakes, omlettes, eggs, cooked breakfasts etc!
We stayed in the tents which i can't reccomend highly enough! They were amazing, we couldn't believe it when we walked inside!! These are no ordinary tents- big wooden beds with big fluffy duvets and pillows. Lovely stone floor with lots of shaggy rugs on it. The bathroom was amazing!! Shower room and toilet were both brand new but still had an authentic safari feel!
The pool area was lovely and again, all brand new. Nice sun loungers, gorgeous pool and a stunning view straight into the park! Unfortunately the watering hole had dried up by the time we stayed (July) however i believe the manager was in talks with the park officers about filling the hole again.
Staff were all so friendly and couldn't do enough to help you! I would definetly stay here again, i would happily have spent our entire 2 week holiday here!!"

You won't regret it
"We stay here in May 2008, the lodge had been open approximately 4 weeks, and like the previous review we were the only couple in the lodge.
The position is in the centre of the park next to the Aruba dam, which is a "honeypot" for wildlife.
The Lodge is ideal for a stopover or base for exploring the park, with the chalets are well positioned for views out over the water.
The rooms are compact, but adequate as you don't spend a lot of time in them.
The main reception areas and pool are excellent and the food was outstanding. It would appear that acording to levels of occupancy they will either provide a menu service or buffet.
Enjoyed a rather cheeky Kenyan White wine off the wine list (believe it was from the Masai Mara Area.
Staff were very friendly and waiting for the tourists to start to visit.
Pelase go - you won't be disappointed"
