Memorable, and enjoyable safari experience Back of Africa Adventure!
"The most comfortable, memorable, and enjoyable safari experience! Back Of Africa Adventure set the stage high with the experience that we had. Allan and his crew made sure our experience was unforgettable, comforting, and above all, real. George was amazing in his skills as a guide for Maasai Mara game reserve, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli national park, as we shared many stories about the past, our own lives in general, and about the tour. The hospitality displayed by Allan, George, and overall Back Of Africa Adventure as as my travel agent was spectacular. Never for one moment did we feel concerned, manipulated, or taken advantage of. With the help of Allan via our mail exchange who recommended beach hotel in Malindi Kenya, Planhotel Dream of Africa Resort (Sandies tropical village) was one of the best hotel I enjoyed in Mombasa together with my family ; it was an all-inclusive package and the staff here were amazing, friendly , caring and professional,Big comfortable clean bed ; I would highly and without question recommend this company Back Of Africa Adventure and the Sandies Tropical Village /Vuto provide you with the ultimate Safari experience! Thanks Allan and George .... Never will we forget our experience for the safari and the Beach holiday i nMalindi! [email protected] "

Graet hotel but some problems
"We chose this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews. The room was modern, very clean, and attended to by the room boy constantly. The staff was exceptional. The food was good- similar to what you might expect on a cruise. The drinks were plentiful :) My only complaint was with the front desk staff/ reception area. Check out was 10 AM, our plane didn't leave until 2:35., and we were traveling with elderly people. We asked if we could stay in our room until 12 and they indicated that we had to pay for this accommodation. I tracked down Nicole, the assistant manager, and she said it would be fine. There was another lovely couple from Ireland that this happened to ( leaving later that day) and Nicole refused them altogether. So, they sat there in the pool area for about 5-6 hours waiting to be picked up. The hotel was empty ( there were a total of 9 people and 7 were leaving that day) ------so it's not as if they needed our rooms to accommodate guests. Another time, we wanted to send a quick email to our travel agent in Nairobi to indicate that are flights had been switched. I would think that a "small luxury hotel: would accommodate such a request, and send the email. But, we were told that we had to use their internet service for this. Which was no big deal but the computer was antiquated, and the internet BEYOND SLOW. And for this luxury, we had to pay 4.34 cents US. The next day, my friend had to get her return seats on a BA flight home. They had moved this piece of junk computer to the hotel next door which was opening that day. Again, no big deal except we had to wait forever to get online. It took so long, that our connection kept timing out. Discouraged, she just let it go, and wasn't able to get her seats. They did have newer computers used by management, and it would have been no big deal to allow her to use it and/or to provide the service. When they left me a hotel recommendation sheet to fill out, I noted these complaints. The next morning, 4 people apologized to my husband regarding these complaints. But, the bottom line is, if you are a member of the Small Luxury Hotels, these small details, which tend to stress people out, should have been catered to. On a positive note, my husband left his hat in a taxi coming from the airport, and Nicole actually tracked down the cab driver ( this was self initiated) who indicated that he would return it IF we used him to take us back to the airport. All in all, as long as you don't have to deal with the front desk, and don't need the internet, you will be pleased with the hotel. From what I could tell, it really was the best hotel in the area."

loved the hotel and staff
"We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Dream of Africa and found the hotel and staff to be great. When we needed help the people there went out of their way to help espcially Nicole the manageress. The food was good and the facilities were fine. For Safaris etc. I recommend you get in touch with Abdul at "[email protected]" he is a very helpful guy who comes well recommended through other people who have been. The beach boys are a little bit of a nuisance but they are not overly pushy (although that may depend on your point of view) and they came to my wife's assistance when she was on the reef walk. The star and garter is a nice place to visit in the town. Please take anti-histamine pills and cream with you as the mossies can be nasty. The place felt very safe and we often walked the markets with only the taxi driver (Israel or Gabriel) who sit at the gate. I hope you all have a great holiday and make some wonderful friends we certainly did."

A true dream of Africa!!!
"Where do you start with a review on this fantastic hotel? The staff are amazing, the rooms extremely comfortable and your every whim catered for. From the Relations Manager (Nicola) to the Head Waiter and Butler (Dola and Timothy) right down to the pool boys, army of waiters and cleaning staff. They are relaxed, polite, funny and great company. Nothing was too much trouble, and they always served you with a smile. The weather in June is the end of the rainy season but even that didnt bother us! The only complaint we had was that they fed you too much and you end up with a bigger beer belly than when you went! The food is unbelievable, and they cater for vegetarians and fussy eaters too! An absolutely fantastic hotel that deserves it's reputation."

Good Hotel, great Food, - Staff sometimes a little overrun
"We came here for some R&R after a Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari. The Hotel was the only one open on the Malindi Beach after the Post-Election Troubles, All guests from other hotels had been transfered here as it is the best on the coast. we got a deal on the hotel and If I'd paid full price for this holiday I would have been dissapointed. The Food, the rooms, decor and the facilities were to an excelent standard but i think that the Hotel had too many guests stoping for the number of Staff. - Service was sometimes very slow. All the staff I delt with were very Nice/polite and were willing to talk when they had time - They just didnt have much time. We were also dissapointed that the onsite dive centre was closed and we were not notified prior to travel - I may have been able to make other arrangements with independant centres. My wife went to the spar and they had a good range of facilities, but the last thing you want after a 50 minute relaxing massage is a hard sell to book another session. She says the spar is good, but the high prices were not justified compared to other facilities she has used elsewhere in the world Would I go Back? - I dont know, the facilities were better than one or two others I stopped with, but the service was sometimes poor,"

Back In Africa
"We have just returned from a week at this wonderful hotel. Our suite was certainly 5 star & Michael kept our room extremely clean - little touches like folding our clothes, putting the magazines & books in a tidy pile, flowers on the bed after making in the morning, etc. The food was excellent and extremely healthy. The staff were ALL helpful and nothing was too much trouble & loved to ask about England. It is a wonderful place for a holiday & we met some fantastic people - you know who you are! (Scooby Doo & Lou, Dangermouse & the lady of Splott, King Twitcher & wife - really lovely people) Israel (our taxi driver - a great guy) took us into the village where we visited Edward and his family. If we had realised before going to Kenya we would have certainly taken our unwanted clothes, shoes/trainers, pencils, large notebooks (for use at school), old mobiles, footballs etc - so please anyone who is thinking of going in the near future please, please take these items they really do need them! (One lady has been going there for the last 12 years and gives money to one family, she has built them a house, paid the childrens school fee's - she is a saint). Would we return - you bet;"

A Dream come True
"We have just returned from a weeks break at The Dream Of Africa, Malindi, we went for my Partner Julia's 50th birthday. We found the half price deal through an e-mail from Travel Zoo top 20, the travel agent was Marks Travel and it turned out to be a Kuoni holiday. We were the first Monarch airlines flight in to Kenya this year, there were local tv cameras filming as we came in! The hotel was in Malindi about 2 hours by bus from Mombasa now that the road has been tarmaced.. We were met at the hotel by the staff who brought us cocktails while we checked in. We were taken to our room and the luggage was carried up for us, by now we were already getting a warm feeling about this hotel, the room was just as the brochure and the bathroom a touch of class with the large shower, his and hers sinks and jacuzzi type bath, stone shampoo and shower jell bottles were a nice touch, the fridge in the room was stocked with Tusker beer Coca Cola and various other soft drinks all inclusive. The restaurant never failed to please us the whole time we were there the fish was especially delicious, always plenty of fresh fruit and salads too - just wonderful food... The best part for us was the absolute genuine frendliness of the staff who always geet you with "Jambo" (hello in Swahili) all the staff could not do enough for us which made our holiday just the most wonderfull time. We made lots of freinds at the hotel as there were only about 20 couples staying there, there really is nothing bad about this hotel we wondered what the catch was with our half price deal but we have got to say Marks travel and Kuoni and Plan Hotels really came through with this deal. We had made contact with Abdul from Tunda tours before we arrived to arrange our Safari to the Masai Mara, Abdul picked us up from the hotel and took us to his office to arrange the Safari, he also gave us a free tour of Malindi and took us to Watamu and Gede ruins, and when we wanted to have a look for some gifts he aranged a couple of locals he knew to accompany us round the shops and market, he was really thoughtfull and his wife even gave Julia a present of a pair of shoes, he is well known in the area and the locals call him the Mayor!"

Best hotel in Malindi
"This is the ideal hotel to relax and unwind. To Kenyan standard, this is deluxe. I would rate it 4 star. It's medum size, but intimate and quiet, although the hotel is packed with Italians (as is the rest of Malindi). No aquajogging or music round the pool here. Good thing about the Italian ownership is that the cuisine is superb. The food is really delicious! We stayed here with 3 people in one room. The rooms are big and the bed-sofa was okay. The beds are hard. The bathroom is huge and modern. The jacuzzi was a bit disappointing (smell). The rooms as the rest of the hotel were super clean! The staff are superfriendly . If the hotel ever gets a 5 star rating, it will be thanks to the staff. The only 'bad' thing was the massage service. Don't go there. I can recommend this hotel for couples who enjoy the silence and good food."

Very very Nice
"The land that the hotel is built on used to be part of "The tropical african dream village" now known as Planhotel tropical village. This part of the complex burnt down in about 2002 with the Dream of Africa being built in 2005/6 This Hotel has got to be the Hilton of Kenya ( as far as Kenyan hotel standards go. They have simply put a deviding fence down the centre of the old resort taken one of the 2 swiming pools and made it into 2 resorts. Still a very luxurious hotel to stay in. jakuzi in the bathroom, walk in shower big enough for 4 people, his and hers washbasin, fridge mini bar, satelite TV etc etc."
