ASC rip off
"The complex is very picturesque with 36 seperate bungalows, however they are sadly in need of repairs, the 'Full Board' food is an attrocious choice each day Lunch and Dinner of Beef or Fish done in different ways but always 'Low quality cheapest cuts'. The Staff however are very friendly and try their utmost to please you. The exception is the Management? They use the 'Manana' principle to appease guests complaints with little or no intent to fix the problem. Whilst we were there 1 couple endured the fortnight without any Hot water.
We also found the ASC tourist officer to be Dishonest, and he was ripping people off with 'Unofficial' tours that he was not putting through the books, you are better off using the Local boys to arrange any Safaris/Tours you might wish. They WILL be cheaper and BETTER value for money."

Nice but not good
"The lodges 36 in total are run down some the last 2 weeks had no hot water, towels were not changed frequently some were even seen put out to dry then put back in
The food is basic beef or fish in various forms as the choices every day lunch and dinner, it is being operated on a shoestring by the owners Maximum profit Minimum outlay.
The Staff however are in the main very good and helpful
The management however are NOT
As for the Beach there is NO beach it is covered by the tides twice a day
It is however in an idylic location but the owners are not spending money on its upkeep"

"I recently stayed for one week at the Laguna Hotel in Kenya and even though the reviews I read before I went to the hotel were not good - I was AMAZINGLY surprised. I cannot reasonably understand why anyone would write such a bad review! Could be that this place used to be called Sea Horse and perhaps it has been taken over. Regardless, this place is absolutely idillic in every way. They have about 40 personal thatched bungalows which you stay in, they are not plush but they are lovely. You have your own bay of beach and sea, vast amount of sun beds and a small pool right on your doorstep. Breakfast and lunch is served overlooking the beach and dinner is served in another restaurant, which too is by the beach.
For our 2nd week we stayed at the Flamingo Beach Hotel, which was lovely too but very busy and amazingly different to the Laguna. If you want a sheer peach and tranquility it is a great place to stay."
