Great Hotel , staff and location
"Our Travel agent suggested the Intercontinental for our first stay in Dec2010 ,and we were bowled over by the beautiful rooms and location ( the beach is fantastic for sunworshipers ) with far more space than at other local hotels . Loved it so much that we went back in July 2011 as it just had eveything we needed for a nice and relaxing break. Always found staff friendly , helpful and keen to please, special mention for ElShadat and Alaa who ensured comfort of their visitors on the beach, Gomma and Elsayed who ensured our rooms were always well looked after. Good choice and tasty buffet at main restaurant, with chefs always on hand for special attention Special mention for the restaurants El Mar , Birds nest and Lagoon quality food and service, well worth trying at least once during stay .
It is one on our favourite places and we will go back again as we are made to feel at home each time, thanks everyone ."

most relaxing holiday ever
"From the moment we arrived at the hotel to a much needed drink laid on for us it was brillient. Our cases were delivered to our room by staff who smiled and asked us how we were. We arrived on the 8th Feb when other countries had pulled out of the resort due to the trouble in Cairo, all I can say is their loss. The resort was beautiful, the staff friendly, polite and considerate - everyone seemed anxious to make sure we were having a good time and we did. If you asked about the trouble in Cairo they explained that it was a long way away and that we were quite safe. We certainly felt safe and they thanked us for coming. I want to say that the resort is beautiful, no over the top security because it isn't needed. The hotel was very clean, the food was amazing but if you want fish and chips then its not for you. We always found something that we loved in the restaurant. The staff round the pool were always polite and courteous and went out of their way to help get you anything you needed. Relaxing in the bar at night was lovely and all in all no hassles and we came back feeling relaxed and had a holiday to remember."

the wow factor
no complaints everything 1st class just 2 little niggles 1-allinclusive bar stops at 11pm midnight would be better 2- to be allowed to eat in the 2 al acarte restuarants free at least once during your stay [they may then get people in them ] all in all a fantastic holiday"

A relaxing holiday
"We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Intercontinental Taba Resort Hotel. I read a few mixed reviews prior to our holiday so didn't know what to expect really. My husband and I had a brilliant time and would really recommend this hotel to everyone! The staff were very friendly, efficient and hard working!! From the cleaners to the waiters reception staff and management team.... they all greeted us with a smile and made us feel very welcome. The hotel itself was spotless and very spacious, so spacious we got lost twice trying to find our room!!! The food was very good and plenty of it! The entertainment that was provided was good. All in all a brilliant holiday, a lovely setting overlooking the beach. We didn't go on any excursions so can't comment on those... we went to relax and completely chill out..... mission completed!"

Great location shame about the lack of customer care!
"The setting of the hotel is just stunning and one of the best things about our stay. There were some good things and some not so good. The standard of cleanliness and attitude of the cleaning staff was very good, likewise for the service staff who very promptly attended to replace a broken fuse and ensure the safe worked properly. Mustaffa who ran the sport side of events at the hotel was extremely good.
Whilst the food was acceptable - it was quite boring and pretty much the same most days - for a vegetarian it was very limited. The restaurant staff were one of the poorest experiences of the stay. They rarely smiled, were not very welcoming and the service was very poor. We were lucky in having one of the very few waiters who actually seemed to believe and work within the ethos of customer care - he was called Mohammed - worked in the outside area and was just excellent - particularly when one compares to the other staff. Also the young women who took your details when you entered the restuarant were very pleasant. Other than this, the staff paid one little attention, would keep you waiting for ages, spend their time avoiding you; clearing and laying tables (other than the one you were sat at!); giving preferential treatment/attention to more local guests. I often had to ask staff to replace or fill food which was empty - rather than this being routinely done through staff attention to detail. There were times when we requested glasses to drink the bottled water and they never arrived, waited for long periods to order drinks and even longer to actually get them. I asked for decaffeinated coffee and was told it was not available even though I had been drinking it a number of times and then had to wait and ask 4 different waiters before I got some hot water after some 20 minutes! This was NOT indicative of a 5 star hotel or of one aspiring to such a status - the service was basically very poor (with the limited exceptions I have indicated).
Reception staff also functioned on the same level as the restaurant staff - I did raise this at the cocktail event and one of the managers there did address a particular concern on which we had had no satisfaction from those on reception. On 2/3 occassions we did not receive faxes from our rep or messages which were important for trips - these had been put through to reception BUT just not actioned promptly. Our rep did order a fruit basket to come to our room in recompense for the poor reception service BUT this didn't arrive either.
The service from staff waiting on to provide drinks in the main downstairs entertainment area was very variable - at just before 11 one evening I beckoned a waiter over, he waited a couple of minutes before coming over and when he arrived, indicated it was past 11 and we couldn't have a drink as part of our all inclusive package!
On booking out we were told we also had to return our towel tickets and could not have towels for our last day - we were at the hotel ALL day as we had a late flight back and this just seemed very petty and was clearly very inconvenient.
The concierge was very good and really attentive, both on arrival and departure.
We were a party of 4 and made the very most of our trip - we truly loved the setting and very much appreciated the ser vice of those few staff who clearly wanted to add value and provide a positive experience more akin to the rating of the hotel and what we had been expecting. We were very disappointed in the overall service and staff attitudes- which may have been down to insufficient numbers for the actual number of guest or just inadequate training and supervision. It really was 'hit and miss' if you had a good or poor experience and this just isn't good enough for a 5 star hotel. It was not encouraging in terms of trying to achieve repeat business.
Whilst the setting would definitely draw us back the standard and inconsistency of service would not. Real attention needs to be paid to staff ratios, staff attitude and staff supervision. There seemed to be plenty of staff around, often talking to one another and ignoring guests, and whilst there was evidence of management around - what they were doing did not centre on any clear vision or mission of a customer centred and customer care approach. It was more about 'image' - having the place look clean and tidy and meeting the needs of the institution rather than of its paying customers. Perhaps there is no mission or vision on which the staff are trained or to which they are aligned - there was certainly no evidence of this.
We were very surprised not to have the opportunity to compete an end of visit questionnaire

"taba heights was a very quite tourist resort but has everything that you need!!!! about 5min drive you can visit water world and taking part in loads of different watersports!! great restaurants and night life its not got any clubs but great for couples and familys!you can get a tummy bug if you drink there water and certain food gets washed in there water so just watch out for that and its a great place and me and my girlfriend got in engaged there its a really romantic palce and the sunset is also really nice!!!people are really nice and friendly but always expect a tip so just say no because they just hold out there hand when you walk past thats the only downfall. ps go visit the pyminids they are amazin "

"Just arrived back from this hotel. It's a well designed building with very good rooms. But the food quality has taken a real drop no one was happy with the food. The biggest problem was the water supply. On the 2nd floor it was constantly off, and when it came on the hot water had a tainted smell. They are struggling with water quality at the moment. A lot of people had the local stomach bug, but it was not from the food ,this is well cooked its just the quality and quantities seem to have been reduced to keep costs down fatal for an hotel. The hotel is certainly NOT 5 Star its not a patch on a RIU Hotel. The tiled floors in the rooms where never mopped only brushed they were bad to say the least. The hotel staff where friendly but certainly not paid enough. It's a real shame because this hotel had an excellent rating on food, word will get around and its reputation will go with it"

Just returned from the intercontinental,...
"Just returned from the intercontinental, this hotel was recommended and ticked all the boxes we required for a weeks sunshine and relax holiday. It does exactly what is promised, 5 star, Large rooms, walk in shower, linen changed daily, food,was fine albeit buffet style but adequate and loads of variety, pool and outdore facilities were great and towel and bar service added to this. Staff were extemely polite and courteous, and the front desk reception very helpful. We deliberated about the trips but decided to go to Jeruselem it departed at 2.45 a.m. and returned nearly midnight!!! but we will never forget this magical trip and it was well worth the effort the guide Udi with loongwood holidays was absolutly brilliant. The Golf course was spectacular and again staff very helpful. A fabulous week in a totaly different location well worth it!!!"

" i disagree with the dehydration.... iv e been to the doctors in town today and he said that sadly egypt has loads of bugs.... sadly i have picked up this bug and it has really upset my system..... im on antibitoics and have a week off work and they are testing my sample foe simonella.....
i have been to egypt beofre and have never been so ill...
taba is so peacful i mean im 19 and i liked the surroundings etc etc but shame about this damm bug"

My wife and I have stayed in Taba Height...
"My wife and I have stayed in Taba Heights on 4 occassions over the past 3 years, we have stayed at the Intercontinental twice and have to say its by far the best hotel in the area.
There are limitations to the All Inclusive that will annoy some people, bugers, pizza and chips to eat day long are not available unless you pay for them.
also, its not like "Up Sharm" as some guests informed us, Taba Heights is VERY quiet, nothing around for miles. This resort is for those wanting to do nothing but sunbathe and relax or spend their holiday diving or playing golf.
There are over 500 members of staff at the hotel so you will get one or two who are going to be unhelpful, there are however many more that will bend over backwards to ensure your holiday is a fantastic one.
we will be returning to Taba Heights twice in 2009, we will continue to stay at the Intercontinental as it is the best, go with an open mind, its not like sharm or marsa alam and those who have been unwell whilst away, drink more water as most of the problems arise from dehydration."

ive been to egypt once before to sharm and stayed in a 5 star hotel... but i wouldnt say this hotel was a 5 star...
we arrived in taba and checked in after having a late supper that was available to us...
we were shown where the room was situated and when entering the room 2 single beds faced us..... there was myself my partner and my 19 year old daughter...... we rang reception who said ok no probs and 3 hours latyer a camp bed arrived for my daughter... when u pay Â£1.400 for a week u would expect a bed for her....
next day they gave us keys to a kingsize bedroom and yet again no bed for the daughter 3 hours later the bed arrived a bigger version of a camp bed.... which was so hard my daughter couldnt sleep. so we ended up all swapping beds so we all suffered it. we complained but got us no where.... then we were minus towels in the room so 3shared 2 bath towels,,,
our room was cleaned but the floor was never ever moped..... and just brushed with a soft brush.... we had no robes or slippers like some of the rooms no tea coffee on one occasion...
the returant u did have to queue for a table sadly sum nites it was so hot to queue it was awful... the food was ok plentyfuil and enuff for all..
the pools sea and salt lake were beautiful...
i didnt like the idea that u had to pay for a snack by the pool when u are all inclusive... there are several places to eat but the oly place you can eat all inclus is in the main resturant in the hotel... and beware there is never any chips lol... so no kid friendly
we did get the taba tummy whi`ch my daughter has brought back with her,,, infa`ct she has been quite poorly and if it continues will be be planning a visit to her gp... we had the same bug in sharm but it went quite quick but this bug still lingers 4 days after we came home...
beware taba aport is awful and the men who clean the loos follow u in the tolilets,,,, weird.... there is a shop but dont buy things from there eg drinks etc majourly expensive
on the whole... we were very disapointed with the hotel.... and i wouldnt return to taba... if im going 5 star again it would have to be sharm where u get treated like royalty.... sadly id class this as a 3 star hotel.... maybe in years when taba is up and running then maybe the hotel will pick up its standard,,
