worst allinclusive ever been too
"we went to shores golden sharm el shiekh for 11 nights and would not recomend this for the english traveller. the hotel it's self is a clean hotel, italian ran, but when it comes to the alinclusive it was rubbish. the meals were very repetative, chips were only on offer twice a week, the rest of the time it was either boiled, wedges,or roast and they were always very undercooked and if you had mash it was runney. a lot of the meat was either chicken, chicken or chicken and there was always rice, the food was always just luke warm. there was 3 bars 1 in reception which you had to pay for, 1 at the 1st poolwhich u only got soft drinks or tea + coffee and the3rd was at the second pool which was where u coulod get beers and spirits and you wre served them in 4 inch paper cups, if you got lager the cup was only half filled and the spirits u only got half a centemeter of which smelt of thinners, snacks were only served at its sister hotel which was a 10 minute walk which was where the beach was.we have done allinclusive for 10 years now and this is the worst ever we have stayed at for the alinclusive. the first night we got there we spent about one and a half hours at the second pool and when i got up the next morning my feet were like balloons from ant bites i had 45 bites on 1 foot and 17 on the other, i have never seen ants so big in my life. i know it might seem as if i am just moaning but this has to be the worst holiday ever. oh forgot to say all entertainment was for the italians nothing was done for the english.
the 2 good things about the hotel was mohamed (from the lazy pool)from 1st pool was so pleasant with everyoneand as soon as he saw you he brought you your towels and the staff in the restraunt were always there for you.

Would Not Reccommed to Any Fellow Brits
"where do i start hmmm
too many italians, the whole hotel more or less, after 2wks they drove you mental !!!
Food - ok but mainly catering for italians, if you dont like pasta, rice, veal, aubergines you have a problem !!!
Entertainment - awful all in italian - they also play pool games - kicking flip flops in the pool and also spitting ice cubes into pool to see how far they go absolutely disgusting
Egyptian Staff - If you were not italian they werent interested in helping you, unless your holiday was almost over and they wanted a tip (typical)
All Inclusive - A complete and utter joke - half board more like - no cocktails, icecream the simple things u like on a holiday not offered
Reception - couldnt understand basic english and would call ur room at 2am to remind you, you have a trip at 4.30am
Mosquitoes - terrible as the hotel does not treat the hotel grounds properly all the british badly bitten, few had to get injections and many had to get antibiotics , this puts u off going for a drink at the only All inclusive var at night time cos ul get bit alive
If i didnt go 2 cairo i would have thought i was on a holiday to italy
would not reccommend this hotel at all, it has put me off returning to egypt and if i do i shall look into the hotel in great depth b4 i book !!!!"

not as bad as i feared
"like the previous reviewer i had some serious reservations about this holiday due to some negative reviews on TA, i seriously considered cancelling which would have been a waste of money/time ,first of all a week in sharm ai 4 star for £500 pp from glasgow is a very good deal, now everyone knows you need to deduct a star for a holiday hotel overseas as their ratings are not the same ,so i knew to expect 3 star, when i saw the deal on teletext at £500 for the week i didn,t think i could go wrong and we did not.
the hotel /sharm is a sun worshippers paradise it was very clean although some of the furnishings are starting to show signs of wear dining chairs, reception sofas need replacing for next year, the rooms were basic but clean with free safe/tv/air con the only negative was the shower tray with its poor tiling and horrible shower curtain
the top pool was a great place to relax /swim/sunbathe in peace and gets 10 out of 10 the massive bottom pool was for the younger guests and looked good too .
the meals were really good , buffet style with plenty of variety and good quality, soft drinks /water by the cup were on tap (BUT No diet drinks) at the pool and in the restaurant and our waiter brought us beer/ wine to our table by the glass.
The main gripe( of the two that i had ) there was only one ai bar which was very mean of the hotel and this was situated at the bottom pool at least 100 yards from the top pool / restaurant and the service was crap it gave me the impression the staff were under orders to serve slowly to preserve their stock. there was a perfectly good station at the top pool they could have used to serve drinks from ,this simple measure i,m sure would see their reviews increase greatly ,second gripe is the obvious bias towards italian guests , diffirent coloured wrist bands/ entertainment in italian / dedicated reps/animation teams ,come on golden sharm if you want to broaden your appeal respect all nations the same.all in all this hotel is not bad and with two or three changes in policy could become very good but never 4 star"

Fabby, Fabby, Fabby
"Don't listen - go and enjoy - its fabby!!!
After evenutally finding reviews on this Hotel and reading them, nearly cancelled the holiday - boy that would have been a mistake.
Golden Sharm is an Egypitian owned Hotel with its General Manager being Italian. For years it has been an Italian based Hotel but this year they decided to free up rooms for other nationalities, with the Hotel being a popular choice for Brits. Lots of people get this Hotel mixed up with the Golden Resort Hotel (we did).
Hotel is spotless, food is superb and the staff very friendly and responsive. 2 large pools, a quiet pool and an activities pool. All rooms are set round both pools and as the Hotel is only 2 storey's high easy access to all rooms. Food choice unbelievable - mainly buffet style with chefs on hand daily to cook pancakes/omlettes etc for breakfast and cooking a different barbecue every day outside in addition to the large and varied food inside the restuarant. Hotel is in excellent location with Narma Bay to the right and Old Sharm to the left - taxi's very cheap and Hotel has courtesy bus available. You can swim all night in the pool.
Tea and coffee not included in the all inclusive deal only available at breakfast and at 4.30pm to 5.00pm on the terrace and no diet drinks available at Hotel (have suggested this change) water available but only in cups (not actual bottles).
You have to sign for alcoholic drinks which is a drag but again have suggested this change.
Entertainment mainly in Italian - but understandable (eventually) however, lots to do outside Hotel so didnt really stay and watch.
If you are going and want more info please contact me but you will enjoy!!"

what a joke
"this hotel is italian owned the staff in the resturant, pool and the guys that do the rooms couldnt do enough but the system is an absolute joke all inclusive means full board at this hotel unless you go to the bottom pool bar that is in the 18 to 30s section which was all itialan and the entertainment was crude . there was only one resturant not three as was advertised no beachside location you had to get a free bus . there was my husband, son and myself (son 17 ) all in one room paid for three adults son had a camp bed the drinks were in vending cups with a choice of fizzy pop, larger, 5 local spirits & water everything else had to be paid for .we copmplained to the rep on three differant occasions & so did most other english families nothing was done at all they had your money they couldnt care less this holliday cost £2,200.00 for 3 not in school holls"

Loved the pool
"I'm quite surprised by some of the reviews. I agree that all the staff only spoke Italian but I liked the fact that I was left alone. The only annoying thing about this was that I couldn't book any trips or activities.I tried to but the reception staff did not understand me and I didn't see our rep once. But I thought for a weeks all inclusive it was very well priced at around £450. I had stayed in Egypt a couple of months previous in 3 Corners Kiroseiz. I actually thought that Golden sharm was better. The small pool was ideal for sunbathing in and around.Children weren't allowed in it so it was nice and peaceful. It probably helped that there weren't many people around so I didn't need to sit by the big pool.that was tacky as they played games and loud music round that.I thought the food wasn't bad especially since I am a fussy vegetarian. The drinks never ran out but then I only drunk rum and coke. I thought the hotel was tastefully decorated and in all I really liked my stay. The local staff were really friendly and brought drinks to us without us even asking. The beach was in walking distance and the fish, coral etc was amazing. There were loads of jelly fish though and the actual beach wasn't very nice. Its ideal if you want to dive though.I would recommend this hotel if you just want a week of sunbathing sitting by a gorgeous pool."

"Holiday from hell!!! The food is awful, The rep was rude and un helpful and only intrested in commision on trips... he will hound you and keep ringing your room if he sees a slight interest or will hunt you down by the pool.. Most of the hotel went down with a tummy bug - the english and italians were all ill - due to the disgusting and under cooked food! It is mainly russian and italian here. The pool was filthy and the jacuzzi you wouldn't even wash your dog in. Rooms were the only half decent thing apart from the shower holder fell off the wall onto my foot and was glued back with sealer - it had never been screwed to the wall. water was cold every day where some had hot. If you go all inclusive!!! ha ha if that's what they call it you can only get beer and spirits with soft drinks till 5 round the pool.. fresh orange you pay for or a bottle of water - bar inside is open but often runs out of soft drinks and is only open till 11 pm. the beer is poured by the glass and not bottle - glass to be returned if you want another.. you pay for whole bottle. although they pour it from a bottle you end up using a bottle anyway. There are no snacks round the pool bar oh tell a lie.. chips that took 30 mins and came cold, they run out of glasses and rush you to drink up so they can use the glass for others and just rinse the glass and do not use detergant. The horizon hotel beach is by shuttle bus and All inclusive does not apply there they also run out of drinks and food... Well you should get the picture by now. The only good thing was the helpful reception staff and the fun animation team i give them a 10 for having to put up with so much.. The hotel shows are not good due to the hotel will not provide the team with any props.. so there you have it!!"

The worst holiday EVER!!!
"Do not book to stay in this hotel, unless you are wanting a 2 star maximum accommodation, where reps and staff ONLY speak Italian!! Not only that, the Italians that are there, are on a 18-30's holiday - this is what the hotel is designed for. So if you are wanting a quiet, ralxing break away, you get totally the opposite here!! From 9am - 7pm the is constant Italian Disco music being played around the pool, with silly party games such as blind date and Talent Shows going through til the early hours of the morning! Wherever your room is, you cannot escape the shrills and shouts of the Italian Reps and they're innebriated followers!!A very, very dissappointing holiday!!!!"

Not Beach Front
"I stayed for two weeks at the Golden sharm had a lovely time but was very disappointed on arrival as it was beach front location which it said it was on it's own webstite.
The hotel was very clean and modern. The room were nice and spacey aswell, with air-con.
I stayed all inclusive which wasn't brilliant as most things wasn't all-inclusive and you could only get drinks from one bar, which ran out constanly.
The majority of staff were helpful and friendly but some espically the Bar staff were rood and arrigrant!
The hotel doesn't accept Egyptian pounds so i would advise bringing more English money.
The hotel is mainly Italians which didn't bother us, but all the entertainment is in Itailian."

"We will never return to this hotel or recommend it to our friends. It is a Italian owned hotel and is geared up for Italians only. All the entertainment day and night is in spoken in Italian. There is only one bar where you can use your all inclusive which is the main pool bar outside soft drinks are self service trying to get alcohol is another matter the staff are very slow and do not hurry them selves to serve you unless you are Italian then you get served staright away we waited up to 20 mins at one point to get a drink if you come across Mohammed you will know what we mean never met someone so miserable he had an attitude towards the british. The all inclusive alcohol is limited they kept running out of lager and vodka once gone that was it no more. The food was ok good choice of salad however hot meals was naff not much choice but if you were Italian you are fine they did pasta every day also waiter service for alcohol drinks non existing you best ask other wise you will be sat there all night. It was good we made some friends all the british stuck together as there wasn't much else to do at this hotel unless you are Italian the staff know very little english some of the staff are really friendly and do make an effort. I do think the tour operators really need to think about sending british to a Italian hotel where facilities are limited and we are not really welcome and this hotel has not got a clue about what all inclusive means to us brits. It could be a really nice hotel they just need to move away from Italian oriantated make a few changes and improve the service. Oh one tip make sure you take Mosi repellant I got eaten alive 20 bites on one leg!"
