excellent hotel if you want a break!
"Me and my partner stayed at the resort in may for 2 weeks. Before we went we read the reviews and we were very worried indeed. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the pools are fab and theres plenty of space for everyone. The staff couldnt do enough for you, they are a bit slow at times when asking for drinks and so on but that was proberbly the biggest problem we had!The rooms we're spot less, clean towels everyday, drinks, even little gifts were left by the cleaner. If you're going on holiday and expect english food then egypt isnt the place for you. There was a wide range for everyone and we didnt suffer any stomach bugs and we ate everything. If youre expecting bacon butties then stay at home!yes people do mither you to go on trips etc but if you politely say no they wont bother you at all...Overall,me and my partner had a fantastic time and will be heading back soon."

Lovely Hotel - but the stomach bug is horrendous
"Five of us travelled to this hotel for 2 weeks. The first week went really well but the second week we were all hit with a stomach bug and I am not talking a couple of hours of painful stomachs but the whole "Pharoe's Revenge". Three needed the doctor. Which proved expensive and conveniently they have one on site. We were so ill and we did not have ice in our drinks drank bottled water so we can only put it down to the food. Our rooms were fumigated after we left (I actually say them do this). The food was quite repetative and not very interesting but as we did not need the food for the second week having obviously sampled its delights the first week.
The staff are great at this hotel very friendly. I would not recommend anyone to stay here and I would also advise that Immodium does not work on the stomach bug in Sharm.
It is a beauftiful hotel but is not really 5* accommodation."

What a Shame
"Went for a last minute hols. 24th - 31st May.
Beautiful hotel and complex, but not all inclusive. Even the poor staff were embarassed, it appeared that they had to keep trying to sell all the time. Check the prices of everything, it ended up costing us £60 for a meal in the beach bar. Check it's in Egyptian Pounds or dollars. Very crafty.
My husband has had upset stomach on previous holidays but this time it was both of us. Doctor and Chemist are busiest places in hotel and even the chemist will try to sell you more than you need. We were forwarned by a young German couple. Staff told us 70% of guests had stomach bug. Watch out!
Such a shame because hotel its self is lovely. Could be a fantastic place but we don't like getting ripped off and thats how we felt. Management let it down.
Would we go again? No chance!!!!"

Ok time but not convinced 5* Hotel!!
"The resort is about 20-25 mins drive from the airport - maybe thats becuase for most taxi drivers its quite new and they tend to stop at every other hotel on the way to find it. If you tell them Nabq Bay they will know. It's a huge complex with many buildings and bars/restaurants - don't be put off by the building works, you hardly notice it going on. The rooms are lovely! Very spacious and very clean - cleaners come round every day and give you clean towels if requested. Each room has a tv with approx 15 channels - 2 of which are watchable as they show films and US tv shows such as CSI & 24. You get aircon free of charge and they supply you with a hairdryer - which can be a chore to take away with you so this was very handy.
Take lots of insect repellent with you - the mossies are so small you cannot see them and they come out with a vengence at night while you are asleep - take a plug in, spray and cream. There are lots of moths as well - we had quite a few in our room and try to keep the back door closed if you have patio light on......
The gym isn't really up to much - the standards are very poor. We went in on day 2/3 of holiday and there were parts all over the floor - next day we went back to see everything put together but not very well - i would say the machines are not very safe. The hotel also has a few shops inc pharmacy which is very handy. There is a hairdressers/pedicure/manicure place.... i wouldn't recommend this place as all the manager seems to want to do is threading (mix between tweezing and waxing and very painful) - i wouldn't let him loose on my eyebrows........ Do not expect to enjoy a cornetto round the pool as they do not have this facility during the day only in the evening outside the main restaurant - the closest you get during the day is Slush Puppies which taste weird and cost between 20 & 28 egyptian pounds depending on the bar staff mood. One cost 28 EP on one day and the next it was 20?! work that out. Also if you fancy crisps or chocolate - there is a shop that sells them but be warned it's quite expensive. Nothing is ever priced up - this is so they can tell you whatever price they feel like charging. Supermarket about 5 mins walk but again - pricey. Do not expect to have much going on this end of Sharm - The Regency is very near to the end of the strip. If you get roped into taking a scooter out for an hour don't expect to be out this long - there is nowhere to go on it except a pathway which end sharpish at both ends (on to the beach!!)
All the staff are very very friendly - some a bit too friendly and become a nuisance but you have to smile and ignore them. By the way you will very rarely see a woman who is member of staff. They are all men !!!
Upon arrival you are given towel passes - hand these in and they give you free beach towels - very handy!! The sand on the beach isn't very nice and to have a swim in the sea you have to walk out quite far - and beware of the jellyfish!!!! Also you can have a camel or horse ride on the beach which cost us about 50 EP to go up and down.
When you arrive your luggage is taken for you and delivered to your after about 15mins - don't panic that they have gone missing. Also when leaving they come and collect them for you.
If you decide to take a taxi into Naama Bay etc do not be alarmed if you end up with an extra passenger - this is something they appear to do out there. We got a taxi back from Naama Bay and someone jumped in - very scary as we wasn't sure if we were getting back........ If you do not wish to be dragged (literally) into any shop (which we did and really annoyed us) then do not acknowledge them - it may seem rude but they sometimes don't get the hint you are not interested. Same with poeple selling you scuba diving/trips etc. You will get these poeple around the pool & beach every day - tell them from the start if you are not interested otherwise they keep coming back!!
Now to the best bit - the food!!!! this would be the perfect place if you were trying to loose weight. If this hotel was closer to town i would rather have paid to eat out 3 times a day. Very limited and not very nice - the look of some dishes puts you off. The better food we had was on the beach - menu very limited but it's served all day so you didn't have to wait for set times. There is no option to buy food so if you are pekish between lunch and dinner you can pop down and have burger & chips/pizza & chips... we lived on pizza & chips at least twice a day and even having to order 3 portions (between 2 of us) as they are a bit stingey...... Drinks are served in small plastic cups/beakers and do not be affraid to ask for more than one at a time. Beer is out of bottles as is the soft drinks so can sometimes be a bit flat. And take plenty of immodium with you - it may not hit you straight away but the "dodgy" belly will catch up with you - it must be the food as they do not serve ice in drinks.....
Some of the information i find should be helpful to you as we wished we knew a bit more before getting out there.
We had a lovely relaxing trip apart from the food issue. If you are planning to go then have a look at their website [---] this might have some more info so you can go more prepared than us."

Excellent Hotel very clean
"We went to Egypt from the 26th April - 3rd May for one week to relax. I must say this was a very relaxing hotel and as soon as we walked through the doors to see the massive reception we felt at home. We got took to our room and it was very nice overlooking the beach we gave the man who brought our bags £1 he seemed pleased with that.
We found the room not up to 5 star standards as there was no attention to detail but the bed was comfy and the air conditioning was very good so we were not too bothered as we spent most of the time out of our apartment by the pool or at the bar. Away from the rooms the hotel was 5 star quality it was very clean, you can have free wine with your meal otherwise it is just local spirits and beers (Stella or Luxor Beer)
the food was very nice and i am a bit of a fussy eater but found everything tasty and nice plus it was fresh everyday, it got a bit samey but it was good food so we did not mind. They cook fresh omlets for breakfast in front of you while you wait they are delicious.
The animation team work very hard and always try to get you involved in games and things but if you say no they do leave you alone. I had never played water polo before and found it good fun even though the ukranian men are huge and very good at water polo
The night time entertainment was ok for the first few days but they keep playing the same music and songs most nights and that gets a bit annoying when you know what song is coming next.
The pool staff are so helpful and work long hours to look after you and are very friendly so do the bar staff and the waiters are funny.
All in all a very nice place to stay we would love to go back next year."

Not 5* Not All Inclusive
"Upon arrival at this hotel it seemed that all the reviews i read on here were untrue, this hotel is a magnificant site, with huge egyptian pillors and rich gold and red colour in the lobby.
Our bags were taken to the room via golf cart, and upon them arriving we were bugged for a tip, we gave him £4 english and he asked for one more pound as he seen it on the side table.
The hotel rooms were big and kept extreemly clean, the maid attended everyday (would advise to tip the maid at the beging of the trip to ensure he looks after you.
This hotel was seeming to be the best id stayed in until we went for dinner, the presentation of the food was out of this world, but all the food was bland and tasteless, we stayed for 7 days and everyday lunch and dinner all the served was chicken, beef, fish and rice, cooked the same way everyday, some nights we found ourselves going out to dinner to avoid the food, 2 people got food poisoning whilst we were there aswell.
Now for the all inclusive part of the hotel, all you get is your food, vodka, rum, beer, and soft drinks, i have never been to an all inclusive resort were when asking for simple things like a glass of wine or a bottle of water and they ask you for money for it.
They have a sea food restaurant on the beach, $40 for a 3 course meal which should be included in the all inclusive."

Beautiful and Friendly
"We arrived at the hotel next door the day before called the Hotel Raouf Sun which was very 1970 style and in desperate need of a major refurbishment.I was none too happy after staying at the five star hotel called the Holiday Club in Laguna Phuket. After being shown to our rooms there was a power cut and no emergency lighting. From then on it went from bad to worse so I was determined to move hotels the next day.We woke up and took a stroll along the beach path and found a new stunning hotel complex next door with lovely vegetation and three beautiful pools. We sat and had a coffee in the bar there as I could not bear to go back to other hotel and this was so superior. The General Manager came over and chatted to us and we immediately said we wanted to stay there and it was arranged for us instantly. The service throughout the whole week was delightful and the staff seemed to really enjoy their work and were so friendly.Nothing was too much trouble. What started to be an awful holiday turned into a very pleasant and relaxing one thanks to the Regency Plaza Hotel. We had a lovely choice of food three times a day and as an all inclusive hotel as much soft drinks and local spirits as we liked with wine included at meal times.accomodation was extremely comfortable and we had a fabulous view of the red sea from our large balcony.I would certainly recommend this hotel to couples and families for a quite relaxing holiday with good entertainment in the evenings for both families including teenagers. My 8,16 and 18 year olds all had a fab time.We hope to return next year.

a nice place to stay
"just got back from the regency and had a fantastic time, there was eight of us in our party 4 adults 4 children, weather fantastic and the resort is very nice indeed, very clean to the stage of almost overboard,a few tips for you, dont be shy in giving a few tips out these can work wonders for you, 20 egyptian to 50 egyption pounds, 2 or 5 pounds english to the staff, and they will look after you like a king,it started getting very busy as we were there, and after tipping the pool guy a few quid, he set 8 sun loungers up for us every morning. If you like a drink they poor them as strong as they come.Overall a very enjoyable holliday,it is still a new hotel and they have not got everything quite right yet, but it will not take them long."

Lovely grounds and staff let down by the food
"Arrived and was allocated to a room with two double beds that needed to be joined together having requested a double bed when booking, the bell boy stood waiting for a tip having delivered the bags to the room. The shower was weak to say the least and the main pool was being refurbished, this had not been mentioned at the time of booking. The beach was very good with plenty of sunbeds and again the pools all had enough beds to go round. The drinks are all served in tiny plastic cups which becomes very annoying and the beach bar has an annoying time schedule of food preperation which could not be altered.
The hotel was most let down by the food, the selection of food was so basic and the same food was served each day, salad bar was simply boring and the desert's were limited. Fresh cooking bar was very slow and again very basic food yet they all seemed very proud of the food. Not a 5 star hotel for this reason."

"we was at the regency plaza resort for a week it was brilliant and the food was good as it changed every night i would say this was the best hoilday ever and the staff were wonderful and very friendly. there are alot of russias there we just got on with our hoilday and yeah there very rude but so what just enjoy yourself there. the beach was amazing and the sea was clear and lots of fish there and you can relax or do trips. there was not many sales people trying to sell you things on the beach and you only get a few by the pool. i would say this was an amazing place for couples or familys "
