"This is not a 5 star more like a 3 star, food is crap, the hotel is like a building site, went in April 2011, this one hotel to swerve."

Lovely grounds and staff let down by the food
"Arrived and was allocated to a room with two double beds that needed to be joined together having requested a double bed when booking, the bell boy stood waiting for a tip having delivered the bags to the room. The shower was weak to say the least and the main pool was being refurbished, this had not been mentioned at the time of booking. The beach was very good with plenty of sunbeds and again the pools all had enough beds to go round. The drinks are all served in tiny plastic cups which becomes very annoying and the beach bar has an annoying time schedule of food preperation which could not be altered.
The hotel was most let down by the food, the selection of food was so basic and the same food was served each day, salad bar was simply boring and the desert's were limited. Fresh cooking bar was very slow and again very basic food yet they all seemed very proud of the food. Not a 5 star hotel for this reason."

"we was at the regency plaza resort for a week it was brilliant and the food was good as it changed every night i would say this was the best hoilday ever and the staff were wonderful and very friendly. there are alot of russias there we just got on with our hoilday and yeah there very rude but so what just enjoy yourself there. the beach was amazing and the sea was clear and lots of fish there and you can relax or do trips. there was not many sales people trying to sell you things on the beach and you only get a few by the pool. i would say this was an amazing place for couples or familys "

Couldnt wait to go home
"Arrived to unfriendly Reception staff, not pleasant, no smiles. Dinner was still being served, so we thought we would change if they ever brought our cases to our room, which was beginning to worry me as it was ages before our case was brough to our room, then the guy stood there waiting for a tip. We walked in to total madness, when we attempted to find something to eat, we were pushed, shoved, and found there was hardly any food, but decided it must be because it was getting late. We soon discovered this was not the case, it was like this every day. After i had some pasta to eat, i used the serviette to wipe my mouth to discover mould all over the cloth. This made me feel really sick.
The food was so awful and not catered for the English, no taste and the same each day, so we ate out at night and remained hungry during the day. If the food had been edible, we wouldnt of stood any chance getting any as the Russian people would do 5 or 6 plates at a time, leaving nothing to be eaten for anyone else.
We booked 3 day trips through the rep, we were advised by the rep to do it this way and to order any cabs via the hotel also. This is also all a big con, none of the trips were as discribed, with them also changing our dates on them to suit them. The hotel cabs when dropping you off at your destination, line you up with a man who would greet us and lead us straight off to one of his shops for us to buy from, when we didnt want to buy they turn nasty!
The boat trip reduced me to tears, trying to get on it was hell, we stood out in the sun for almost two hours 1st, then when we returned the rep told us to wait at this spot, he left us and never came back, we had to argue to be brought back to our hotel, to be then driven back in a little mini bus with no seatbelts, and a driver who avoided 3 accidents due to his speed on our way back, i did cry this time, but thank god we got back in one piece.
This is no way a 5 star hotel and should seriously be looked into. Our room was meant to be a Delux, we only had 1 sheet on our bed, shower broken, never swept, really terrible. My legs look like i have measles, every morning when i got out of bed there were more red spots, and my poor husbands are the worst i have seen, people were having injections for the bites and one lady was on a drip.
This was meant to be a rest for my husband to help recover from surgery, truly this was no rest.
The only plus was the beach and the sunshine and then checking out.
Would never return, the worse hotel i have ever stayed in and we travel a lot.
Strongly would not advise.

"people have very diferent views and must admit after reading them we were a little worried, but what can i say it was a late deal and we paid little money it was fab!! this is our second time in egypt the hilton in sharks bay was the first but in a class of its own but the regency plaza was comfortable close to the local shops staff extremely friendly and couldnt do enough for you and its not all about tips its about being polite!!! i spent my birthday there last week and got cake and balloons very pleasent. food was a little repetative but you get this in most countrys, our room was lovely perfect view of pool. building work to increase size of hotel is being done but does not effect the hotel at all no noise and no mess!! would definately go again. the staff definately made it a great holiday and will keep in contact with them.if you get ill see the doc he is amazing- the illness is generally down to the heat and not enough water people shouldnt blame the food. thank you to everyone at the regency."

do not eat here
"We booked to stay at the grand sharm plaza but on arival we were told it was fully booked, so we got transfered here. The overall look of the place was ok, but there was only one restaurant. The food was the same at lunch as in the evening. I will eat most foods but I struggled to be impressed. 3 out of the party of 4 ate the chicken one night that had obviously been out all day. The sickness and diarrohea bug lasted four days and totally ruined my holiday. We then got transferred back to the grand sharm plaza, where we enjoyed what was left of our holiday. This regency hotel is no way a 5 star hotel and do not let anyone tell you any different."

"We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Regency Plaza which was also our honeymoon and would definitely go back.
Our room was a deluxe seaview room and was amazing. We had a kingsize bed in a huge room with balcony and the view was fantastic. Every day it was cleaned and always tidy. We were also left two bottles of water every day in the fridge and there were plenty of places to refill these so you could never run out.
The beach area was fantastic with very friendly towel boys who loved having english people around. The sea was very calm and shallow but was deep enough in some parts with coral which made it excellent for snorkelling and we saw many types of fish. There are also lots of activities to take part in at an extra cost. ie: camel/horse riding, boat trips, banana boat and kite surfing.
The pools were excellent and always clean with plenty of beds. The entertainment team were always trying to get you to join in with their activities but soon left you alone if you said no.
The food was more than ample and there was no way you could go hungry. We went on an early trip one day and the hotel provided a breakfast box which was also more than enough consisting of rolls, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, pastries and a bottle of water. We ate at 'The Fish Market' a'la carte restaurant one night and for £15 had an excellent 4 course meal. If you like fish this is well worth a visit.
Drinks again were more than adequate with plenty of choice. In the beach and pool area they were served in small plastic cups but the staff soon gave you more than one at a time if you asked. At nights in the restaurants and bars the waiters were helpful and if asked would soon get you a refill.
My advice to anyone who goes would be: take plenty of pound coins or 1 dollars (as all the staff will do anything for you, for a small tip) and don't let the Russians spoil your stay (they are very rude and always want to be first in the queue)."

Hit & Miss
"Our first impression upon arriving at the Regency Plaza in the darkness of night was a spacious fantastic setting with a long driveway up to the entrance of the hotel. When you walk in, the ceilings are very high and the reception / lobby area is most grand. It was somewhat strange that our suitcases had to remain at the front of the hotel, though after booking in it was clear that it was an opportunity for the porters to demand a quick buck when they took our cases to the room.
The intial impression was certainly five star. When we got to the room, it was pretty basic and more three star. Our touble bedroom was a twin, though we were able to rearrange the beds accordingly.
The good points:
Fantastic set up, with great grounds and a superb spacious private beach. There were two main swimming pools, one noisy and hectic, the other larger, and more chilled. Food was wide ranging and if you are not fussy eaters there is enough to keep you going for two weeks. We like most food, so long as it is properly cooked and we were content with the food. Superb value for money.
The bad points:
Reception staff - awful. Didnt know their arse from their elbow. Command of English was severley limited when any adhoc requests or queries were raised.
All inclusive - finishes at 2pm on day of departure. We had some friendly waiters who were happy to continue serving us but the manager intervened and followed us around the resort as we tried different bars.
Drinks - a shot glass of fruit juice offered at breakfast. beers in 200ml plastic cups. Spirits strong enough to run an engine.
TV - didnt work really, awful picture and sound quality
Power cuts - frequent
Animation team - an entertainment group consisting of multi nationalities who hassle you and drive you up the wall
Salesmen - massages, dolphins, camels, horses, snorkelling, diving etc etc. Was not uncommon to be approached at the pool and tended to happen like london busses!!
Hotel prices - savagely overpriced for items outside all inc - eg ciggerates at 25 egyptian pounds or a 2 minute walk to the supermarket for 13 E£. Similarly bottle of coke e£25 v e£5 at supermarket.
Egyptain people - greediest people I have ever come across. Everyone wants to sell something, short change you, rip you off, tell you how fit your wife is.
Naama Bay - Dispicable
Taxis - rip off
Overall - A great resort if you are up for chilling by the pool / beach. Service is very hit and miss and can become frustrating. Good value for money, but there are pitfulls that you need to be aware of and weigh up if they are acceptable. Close to giving this place a seven, but will weigh in with a 6.

haha 5 star what a joke
"well where can i start we are actually staying at the regency plaza at the minute were flying home today and cannot wait the longest week of my life. Dont get me wrong Sharm itself is wonderful but the regency plaza is an absolute joke shoot the man who gave it 5 stars, i have stayed in a better b+b the food is awful.the same every night we lived off dry chicken and plain rice all week and breakfast was not worth getting out of bed for. u will come across lurch at breakfast lunch and tea giving u cocktails Then charging u 4 Dollars hmmmmm thought it was all inclusive and when you say no he wants to know why u dont want one. The entertainment is the same man on the mic every night howling the same songs i actually cant stand boys to men anymore as he murdered there songs. when the entertainment is that bad all you are able to do is watch films in your room well not at the regency plaza as the electric is constantly running out every night for at least half an hour as well as your aircon and when you ring up reception all they say is sorry we are running off the generator as we have run out of electric. the beach would be ok but you can walk out for about 5 miles without it going past your ankles, this hotel is an absolute joke would not recommend it to any1 make sure u have your purse ready for tips as thats all they want all the time and hate you getting more than one drink in their plastic party cups. DONT STAY HERE!!!!!!"

READ FOR REAL RECENT REVIEW!
"2 of the main things that spoil this hotel are.
the rooms and the russians.
Altough the hotel looks lovley from the outside.Inside is the complete oppisite. we booked for a suite with a sea view and were very dissapointed with it. there was 2 seperate double beds-which couldnt be moved as they were too heavy and a table stood in between them-if you wished to sleep in the same bed as your partner, and 2 small beds, well they cant be classed as beds they were either to use as a sofa or bed but were very uncomfortable. In the bathroom the sink was leaking and it was just generally unhygenic. We were very dissapointed and requested another room straight away evn though it was about 1 in the morning. We ended up downgrading to a double room, which was much better. my daughter was on a pull out sofa bed but there was no sheets, we rang recepetion they said they will send them in 5 minutes. 10 minutes past and we rang again. the same thing was said. After several attempts we gave up and she slept on towels we had brought. the sheets were then finally brought the next night after going to reception twice.
Most of the staff here are very friendly and make you feel welcome. However they need to stop pestering people so much and realise they will not get a tip everytime they serve someone a drink.. It mostly catered for polish and russians. the bread is delicious and is practically all i ate along withthe pasta which is also lovley. flies were constantly pestering at the table although there are no other bugs in the whole hotel. i would stay away from the salad as it is washed in the tap water and any seafood as it made me very ill.
In the day drinks are served in little cheapy plastic cups. Including beer. the only place that doesnt do this is the lobby bar aslong as you drink inside.
Top tips to make it a great holiday:
1. dont go to the regency plaza
2. make sure you check out the reefs, some hotels have a jetty on there beach which leads you straight to the coral with amazing coloured fish.
3. drink lots of water
The food was definatly not 5*"

"Stupidly me and my boyfriend did not read reviews prior to booking our stay at Regency Plaza. BIG MISTAKE!Pictures of hotel looked amazing, and the fact it was a 5* you would think you would actually get 5*.
Friendly staff (most of them) except for one very rude man who took us to our room. He showed us to our room and stood there waiting for a tip. we did not have any money as a result he stormed of swearing under his breath and left door open. This was discusting behaivour and certainly not 5* treatment.
Food was absolutely terrible. Both of us sick and needing toilet everytime the food passed our lips. The food was catered for Polish and Russians and was discusting. All the same every day. it ruined out time there as we hardly eat.
Waiters all very friendly but did not understand english and never knew what drink we wanted. Staff around the pool were incredibly annoying always pestering us to go on trips.
This hotel wouldnt even pass for 3* never mind 5. Entertainment was non existant and crap. Staff need to learn more english and not expect a tip everytime wou see them
One incedent with the Taxi service that really annoyed and shocked us. We paid for a Taxi to and from Naama Bay and on the return they picked us up in a crowded mini bus with one seat to share. They did not refund the trip or even apoligise. Instead lying and saying me would get free one way trip then ganged up on us lying about being a manager.
Over all very dissapointed. Would not recommend it unless your Polish and have no standards.
Rooms were not amzingly hygenic which is a major issue for me."

"Well me being 14 years old I didnt't know what to expect, I went with the hole of my family and had a very tiring journey but we were greeted with very friendly faces. As it was Christmas, the reception area was beautifully decorated. Staff politly took our bags into the hotel and a waiter hapilly offered us a cool flannel and a drink of squash. We were shown to our rooms with staff carrying our bags, the rooms were beautiful and spacious and the best bit was our sea view which was right outside our door and was a foots length away.
I have to admit that the food was not the best and we all fell ill after a couple of days but the buffet restaurant was worth going to, the waitors were lovely and were so happy to see the british! They were very fast with the sevice but be careful, don't leave your plate for one minute because they will take it!! There are many comments about the waitors being slow and not very nice but we treated them like people and we were very thankful so in return they were wonderful! Some nights they took the time out to teach us some tricks which was great.
The beech area was magical and beautiful! There were many people trying to sell us stuff but listen to what they have to say because some of it is interesting and pass the time when your parents are sleeping and you have nothing better to do!
Me and my family went out on a boat scuba diving and had a great time, the people handled us with care and were very friendly. Be careful of people on boats around you as me and my cousin tried to be taken by other people on the boats either side of us, because we are blonde hair, blue eye. TYPICAL!
WARNING!! If you are blonde hair, blue eye and curvy, like me, die your hair before you go!! The staff at the hotel and local people were very fond of me! I was proposed to twice and one of them was a night time security guard at the hotel entrance! So be careful!!
Overall my stay at Regency Plaza Hotel was amazing and I loved it. I would give anything to do it again and if I could I would die my hair!!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
