avoid like the plague!
"Arrived in Egypt 23/11/09 for one week expecting to be in the Grand Hotel Sharm 5*, but due to travel agent and/ or influence of overbooking in other hotels ended up here in 2*! The older rooms in the complex are dated, dirty and badly maintained ( rooms 100's-200's ), but the newer rooms are lighter and airier but need some cosmetic maintenance. The dining area is an absolute joke, reminiscent of 1970's Butlins. The food is cold and lacks variety and the bar keeps running out of glasses! No entertainment on site is another negative, but the hotel managers continual persual of pretty girls is of constant amusement ( class one pervert ). The only positive is the staff who are friendly and helpful"

"Having read reviews on this hotel we decided to have our holiday there, and we are so glad we did. On arrival we were not dissapointed, the welcome we received, and then shown to the massive room which could have housed a family with every thing that you could possibly need for you stay. The service was very special from all the staff that we came in contact with. The Peninsular Restaurant was fantastic and on our annirversary, the staff had gone to a lot of time and trouble to decorate the table with flowers and as usual for this restaurant the service was impeccable. . The 2 managers in the restaurant Hegazy and Emad ran a very good team of staff who were always willing to help and very attentive. The Thai restaurant was very good with excellent food. The boys who cleaned the rooms laid flowers out most days, and the rooms were always immaculate. The pool bar stafff again great serviceand nothing was too much trouble. As in life generally, treat people with respect, and they will most of the time respond positavely and treat you with respect. We have stayed in many hotels all over the world including Dubai and Abu Dhabi whose service we thought could never be improved, but we have now meet the match We will certainly be returning and can't wait"

No Hassle, Asda Price
"£450 each, All Inclusive x 2 Weeks, What did i expect, Alot worse. Nobody seems to quesion the £250 flight charge for a small seat on an old plane with poor inflight entertainment and supplementary food costs and long terminal walks. Minus the flight cost from the cost of the package and you are paying a rounded up £15 a night to stay at Grand Sharm Resort if that. Located off the main road, 2 reception staff are catering for multi nationality occupants and we did not have any problems. The room is that of a 2/3 Star but who goes anywhere in Africa paying pound for pound what we did expecting more? I put it on par with self catering Tenrife. Clean, but not scrubbed, bedding changed daily along with bath towels. 1 Tv channel CNN, 2 bedlights out and a Sun facing balcony over looking the sea via a set of villas and the 5 Star Royal Grand Sharm. 2 Pools clean, paving could be cleaner but dont read this as at all being dirty. Pool towels provided and ample loungers with umbrellas. Sharm does not have natural beaches so expect man made window pots by the sea with sun loungers snoreling off pontons in instant reefs. READ what you are paying for, LOCAL alcohol. Soft drinks trade brands and as per instructions GLASS by GLASS service. Sorry no pints. Plastic glasses need replacing and stocking and education of staff what drink goes in what glass, but abit of comminucation, please and thank you and hey presto no more problems. Buffet food as it reads. Repetitive, but so is any restauant catering 200 if you eat in the same place every night x 14 daysit does repeat repeat. Quality Good but expect alot of rice but you can also expect BBQ, Burgers, Chicken, Duck, Beef, Turkey, Fish ample vegtables and potatoe assortments and yes chips. Dining area clean, but again could be cleaner but why? Laid out tables with the correct utensils. A variety of pudding, effort 100% and egyptian sweet translate to doughnuts!. Mmmm. Staff, couldnt try harder. Plenty of them and again good communication skills goes along way. Never expected during our stay or widely seen but alittle cash and i mean alittle to you and i would make things alot easier. (Staff paid+12hr days x 21 days per month for £40 without complaint). Bar has sky for sports fans and we didnt stay up late enough for entertainment so can not comment. Expect what you pay for. If you want more stay in a 5 Star and pay twice as much for not alot more in terms of product. A very good value for money stay in a average hotel with average food which allowed us to eat out when we wanted to and do Scuba Dive alot. (GO DIVE highly reccomended, Michael+Christine+Wael, 1k left straight line out of hotel ras umm sid by memorial). Venture beyond the promotions opposite the resort in the market area, minor hassle walks, cheap restaurants, Maccy D's, Pizza Hut and KFC if you get stuck. Make sure you know the price before you drink in bars, especially in Sharks and Namma Bay but why wouldnt you? Would you not at home? Alot of moaners but i think from boredom or paying too much in the UK on an operators rating. The sun was probably to bright for them and water too wet. Unjustified for the price we paid and what you recieve. Research, look and confirm exactly where you are paying to stay. You get what you pay for, so to all you shoppers it was ASDAS this trip. A last minute trip which was nothing less then reasonable expected. Recommended knowing full facts not arriving blind."

if you think yo've booked the grand sharm don't accept grand sharm resort!
"If you have booked the Grand Sharm beware if you end up in the Grand Sharm Resort its not the hotel you think it is! The whole place needs a needs cleaned and updated. The food is terrible. No entertainment until the bar closes at 23.00. then only about twice a week if they could find a singer staying as a guest. Not enough glasses to go round often waited at the bar 5 minutes for a glass to get a drink then it wasonlyrinsed in cold water in a rusty sink before refilling. The beach area is found off the main road between two building sites. Ap ontoon holding about fifty people all trying to get in and out of the sea not my idea of fun oh yes! and beware of the boat towing the bannana coming in between the swimmers VERY DANGEROUS!!"

"This place keeps changing its name. Was The Creative Grand Sharm and is now Grand Sharm Resort. On arrival a guest said to ask for a room starting with 300. Good Advice! They showed us to the old and tired rooms starting 100 and they were awful. We 'demanded a room' 300 and above and were taken to much better rooms. However the room was dirty with blood on the head board and squashed mosquitoes all over the wall. The bathroom was very dirty and everything felt sticky. took 3 days to fix balcony light. Electrical wiring exposed around pool and in rooms. staff used kettle that was taped up and poked wires into socket to boil water! We filled in a questionnaire and the member of staff came to collect and opened it in front of us and read it and later cleaner knew that we had given bad report and asked why. Nothing could have been more obvious, not guests place to talk to cleaner (no sign of manager). Drinks - glasses and cups often not available and staff scuttering about to find some. when they had them they were all small glasses. Also I paid for laundry and extra time on room on leaving day to find that they said I had not. I had a huge row with reception about this and brought in the manager. Heard horror stories about male staff harrassing females. Also we returned to our room on one day and the door was wide open. The cleaner had finished 1 hour earlier and said he had shut it. We thought we had been robbed but nothing had been taken. Good job we had a sense of humour. So many people arriving expecting 5 star resort , would not rate it above 2 star. Be careful to check you have the correct accommodation as large number of people arriving expecting something else. Needs knocking down or total refurb. Also, bus takes you to Palma beach (only hotel beach) which is accessed through building site."

cheap and cheerful
"oh dear if you didn't laugh you'd cry! reception staff have little english. dirty towels left from previous guests left in the room. no toilet rolls, had to keep nicking them from other toilets. safe box locked in room promised would be unlocked in an hour. finally unlocked day before departure! shower tap came off first night. taps loose on basin and waste pipe would come out if water ran a bit fast with result of water gushing all over the floor. also terrible smell in bathroom and leak from shower basin giving floods when shower used. cleaning staff too busy making swans with towels instead of cleaning. lack of crockery, glasses and cutlery. staff often have to swill a cup or glass for you. kettle used at pool bar for afternoon tea boiled by shoving bare wires into socket! on a positive note staff are mainly friendly. they must get fed up with the complaints. the sun shines from 7 till 5. drinks were not bad at all and it is a cheap place to stay. but would recommend anyone going to the area should stay in 5 star hotels. don't think the 4 star are up to much either ."

Grand Sharm - Great Disaster???
"From the reviews written one can assume Grand Sharm is the worst hotel ever. For sure its best years have long gone. And it looks like a three star hotel rather than four. Letâs start with the reception. It is rather small as for the hotel this size and has old furniture, but on the other hand you are not sleeping in it, are you? The reception staff does not speak English very well, but you can communicate with them in case of an emergency. Sure weâve waited for two hours for somebody to fix our broken shower, but when we needed assistance with the room safe, help came immediately. The room I stayed with my friend in was big with an extra room with kitchen area and a bathroom. Although the furniture was dated and curtains covered with dark spots the room itself was ok, clean and without any bugs, as opposed to bathroom. It was dirty with cold water, all of which was fixed after reporting it to the management. Even though, you do not come to Egypt to reside all the time at your hotel room during your whole stay, do you? Nothing was stolen from us. We felt safe enough to leave all our belongings by the hotel pool and go to have lunch in the restaurant. The food itself was plentiful, almost the same set every day, but did not cause any stomach problems. Although the hotel is not directly situated by the beach (there is a hotel bus that can take you to the beach in 3 min), it has two swimming pools with refreshing water (which is important especially with high temperatures early in the morning), enough sun beds and pool towels and a pool bar with very friendly and helpful staff. The drinks are served in not very elegant plastic cups, but fairly clean. Again no stomach problems, even after drinking mineral water. If you have enough of the sun and the pool you can always go to the nearby market center, or go by bus to Naama Bay or stay at the hotel and take part in a karaoke party. All in all, Grand Sharm has a few set backs. But does it really matter? The weather is beautiful, sun is shining, and the sea has a beautiful emerald color. Our friend, a tour guide, said to us before coming to Egypt, that either you fight with the way things and people are in Egypt or you accept them. Iâve chosen the second option. And guess what â Iâve had fun!"

"This resort/hotel was promoted by my tour operator as 4 star, it is not 4 star by any stretch of the imagination as confirmed by members of staff. i read the reviews by other guests[suckers] and passed them off as OTT and booked anyway.WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE.We as well as many other guests were confronted with rooms with no towels or toilet paper and electric points that could literally make your hair stand on end! The standard of cleanliness especially the bathroom was quite disgusting,we got out of the shower feeling dirtier than when we got in!Thank goodness we were all inclusive[or not,i,ll explain later] the cooking facilities and sink were almost dirtier than the bathroom from a lack of adequate cleanliness.Mealtime at the GRAND SHARM RESORT was allways met with much trepidation as you were never sure if there would be anything there that you would actually attempt to eat,and invarioubly the "HOT" food was cold due to there not being enough candles underneath to keep it warm."i kid you not" If you like raw chicken and rice every day you,ll love it. Most mealtimes as well as the bar service were spent waiting for the staff to scurry round the vacated tables looking for discarded cups or glasses and promptly swilling them under a cold tap before being offered up to you stains, finger marks and all. I will say somethig in the resort,s defence which is.The waiters etc were mostly friendly and would engage in friendly banter.More than i can say for the reception staff who were probably sick of repeating themselves over and over again with the same well rehearsed excuses. After a few days we resigned ourselves to our fate and actually began to laugh about it all, because if we didn,t we.d cry. Our night time entertainment consisted of drinking in the reception[because there is,nt an inside lounge] and watching the new arrivals being shown to their room then taking bets on how long it would take for them to return with an endless list of complaints.IT WAS NEVER VERY LONG! I could go on and on and on but haven,t the time.I need to book a holiday to get over this one!"

Don't stay here ever
"Oh dear Oh dear, this hotel also known as Creative Grand Sharm is poor to say the least. When we arrived the reception person said he would just check the room to see if it was ready, when we got there the room was dirty, had no toilet roll and no towels, practically everyday we had to ask for towels to be left. This was because although the rooms were cleaned daily the towels would be taken and not replaced We only stayed on a B&B basis,(thank goodness) the standard of the dining area was extremely poor in our opinion, the toaster broke after 2 days and was not replaced, several people including us complained about hot food being served cold. There is just so much wrong with this hotel I could right a book on the week I stayed there, however I wish to end on a high point, I met some very nice people in the hotel, and if it wasn't for them this holiday would have been a nightmare."
