"Me and Boyfriend have just come back from staying at this hotel.
We found the Hotel Really good, Clean and the staff were very friendly. Get on the right side of your cleaner and he will leave you some cool shapes on the bed with your towels..
We stayed on a B&B basis so we ate out down in Naama Bay, although we did eat at the hotel on our first night at Alfredo's restaurant, the food was not fantastic.
There are two pools here, the smaller one is nice and quiet and the larger one with the pool bar has music playing all day - ok but not very relaxing.
All I would advise is before you fly out, make sure you go on the sunbed and get abit of colour (you may laugh) but they know youve not been there long and you will get hassled by the local shop keepers etc (but where dont you get hassled either to go into the pubs/clubs or restaurants??) just say no thank you and just walk off, they soon get the message.
The food is really cheap but the beer etc is same if not more than what you would pay here.. and be careful about what they charge you, we had 2 X Vodka and OJ and a shisha and got charged £10 english....Speaking about the shisha - you must try it even if you do not smoke you will enjoy it, it comes in most fruit flavours (Cherry was my fave)
Take plenty of diahreah? tablets incase you get ill, if you do get ill and you have to go to the chemist there, they will try and give you a needle refuse this and just take the rehydration sachets and a strip of green tablets, this should do the trick..."

very reasonalble hotel
"just got back from a 2 week holiday at this hotel and was pleasently surprised, as the last last review was not quite great. teh all inclusive food was really bad but everything else made up for it, the rooms were large and comfortable and all air conditioned and very, very clean. The pool bar food was very nice i only really ate the burger they do, which is chargrilled and they were always well cooked in a clean enviroment as they take hygine very seriously. On the subject of food the breakfast at the hotel isn't worth getting up for, but there is a nice pastrys shop called "The Station" and the food is great and just around the corner a great pizza place called "Pizza 5" the pizza costs around £1.50 but the food is great. There is a real lot of building work going on oposite and around the hotel but cannot be seen or heard from anywhere inside the hotel. The only real problem i had was with their check-out procedures as no one tells you anyhting and your stuck hanging around reception for 20 mins while they check your room. they do a great towel service too which is free unless you lose your towel or card for the towel as then you are charged £5. I recomend that you DO NOT get the taxis and use the hotels private taxis as you can arrange a pick up somewhere at a certain time, they are fully Air-conditioned,Clean and the drivers can all speak pretty good english plus seat belts and all for 50p more, its worth it. On the other hand the free shuttle bus is great so try use it if you want to go anywhere as its free.
Now shopping the best place to go is a few seconds walk up the road to the shop with books written on the window and "Mexicana" over the door as its all price marked, but just around the corner (Taxi ride out) you can go to a 24 hour supermarket with price marked goods.
The pools are clean and there are plenty of sun loungers. The only problem there is occasionally you get some pervey massage parlour guy walking round giving out leaflets, take my advice tell him to get lost or he will come back!.
Now outside the hotel you get lots of shop keepers trying to get you to come into their shops just walk straight past not even a look or you will be followed and hassled. but if you do buy anything from these local shops or most shops in egypt go hagle but don't buy play the shops against each other, that way i got a bubble pipe 2 packs of flavoured tobacco for £8 when origionally they were trying to charge around £40. never agree on a high price always haggle and if they won't meet your price walk out and they will take it.
All in all had a great holiday the hotel was nice, clean and most of the staff were friendly. i would go there again but pay less. Don't worry if you have booked a holiday here as it is a good hotel."

nice & clean but noting spectacular
"The hotel is quite clean but nothing special. All Inclusive is not what t means here. Cold drinks in the room including water are extra. The only free alchol was local beer (low alchol level) where 1 small bottle was split into 2 glasses, and spirits were knock off gin, vodka & whisky. Meals times were a laugh only diffrent variaties on chicken, beef (this meant burgers or sausage or stew), fish and pasta. Same thing each day was not very appeling. The veg was cold & under cooked, somedays tasted raw. Only children could have french fries (were always cold), If an adult wanted fries you had to buy them from the pool bar.
Good point was the place was always clean.
You couldn't walk anywhere without been honked at by taxis or been pulled into little dirty shops, but then again there was nowhere to walk to as outside was lots of building works.
Entertainment was minimal 2 dancers outside twice a week for 10 minutes each. The night disco was a bismal if the dj ever turned up and when he did everybody had gone back to there rooms.
Filnally again nice and clean but DO NOT go ALL INCLUSIVE cheaper to eat out if you dare. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF BY TAXI DRIVERS.
If a taxi is needed from the airport do not pay more than £5 english pounds you could even get it for less.
But the hotel was clean hahaha"

Friendly, Quiet, Relaxing Hotel
"Stayed for 10 days A.I. Very average food. Made the most of it for 5 days, partly coz friends arrived at a different hotel and had arranged to eat out with them in evenngs AND yes the food was repetative and should of been hotter. Alchohol available all day till 11pm, local stuff but actually didn't take full advantage as aware of heat (and it was v hot)and booze don't mix. Had lots of soft drinks and water in day and didn't have a problem with plastic cups, we were around a pool for goodness sake! No snacks in A.I just cake and tea or coffee if you wanted it 3-5pm. Paid extra for baguettes/burgers/pizza during the day if didn't fancy lunch or wanted to eat al fresco by pool. Had to pay £4.50 exttra for a 3 course meal in the steak house wihin the hotel but had a lovely meal and the service was impecable so really didn't mind.
There is no entertainment here apart from dj at poolside daily, quite relaxing until a russian couple on honeymoon arrived and requested constant club dance music for 2 afternoons and proceeded to walk around pool dancing, go in pool dancing, and sit at pool bar dancing with heads bucking like chickens in distress- bless them! They were very young, very happy and very friendly and entertaining!!
Drinks available in upstairs bar till 11pm but v quiet up there as most went to Naama Bay in the evenings. A courtesy bus is available which we used lots of times and taxis are always outside. £2.50 TO NAAMA BAY, bargain but be careful as they really do try to pull the wool over your eyes and "no change" IS A CLASSIC!
Rooms here are spacious very clean with large bathrooms and shower areas. clean towels were provided daily and sheets too.
Staff very friendly and polite.
We had a nice relaxing holiday and if we ever went to Sharm again we would opt for a hotel around naama Bay so we could walk to somewhere in the evenings and would definately not opt for A.I anywhere as there are lovely places to eat in Naama Bay and a vast choice."

Staff friendly, atmosphere gorgeous (all inclus & food v.poor!)
"We have just returned from a weeks stay in the Mexicana. We felt special from the moment we landed in Egypt - Yahir the rep from tour company was very professional and his english was better than mine. He noted to us that a reasonable tip for various services would be about 50pence (GBP) though this was not obligatory.
We originally booked on a half board basis and seemed to think from previous reviews that it would be a good idea to upgrade to an all inclusive, but on closer inspection there was little extra to gain from all inclusive, certain drinks still had to paid for and there were supplements to pay on certain snacks etc. I always look forward to a good buffet breakfast when i go away and was certainly very disappointed. I know it may seem narrow minded but there was no bacon, sausages, hash browns, mushrooms - instead there was chilli beans, watery mashed potatoes. Though the pastries were good and the bread tasted lovely. After the third night eating in the hotel i got very sick eating the meat. this was the last time we ate in the hotel. On reflection this was probably a good thing since we tried various restaurants in different areas from the higher class to the more regular - all excellent really. We found a cafe at the end of the road called the station, similar to starbucks, everyone from england loved this place. Also you`ll have a treat if you go to the fast food restaurants - bigger fresher burgers at typically half the price at home.
Even though the shop owners and reps are very oriented to selling you their goods and can sometimes be so eager that it may seem agressive you dont feel threatened, well i didnt anyway. It really is necessary to bargain for everything. I very much doubt that you would mention a price that wouldnt be accepted by a shop owner-try them at their own game, give them a hardluck story and if necessary respectfully excuse yourself from their shop if your price cannot be achieved, this gained me an extra discount on more than one occaision - though i did start to feel a bit cheeky doing this.
You have got to get out on some of the tours, we did the quadbiking at sunrise - managed to find this for 10GBP per person, our operator was offering this tour for 25GBP, though i can appreciate there was a difference - there was another tour who were wearing helmets! - we were with the locals, some israelis etc on our tour (these guys could all speak such excellent natural english) they were great fun too - so friendly.
Youve also got to try the snorkelling, its cheap to do and will leave you with great memories.
You`ll never have a problem getting around - the streets are awash with Peugeot 504 estates in varying conditions but always white with blue panels - i thought they were great fun, the dirvers seem to use their horns where I would have used my brakes but I never saw any accidents - though on a few occaisions i braced myself against the bench seats more than once. There is no road rage either, im going to take a lesson from this. One thing which is quite unlike home is that the cab drivers will drop and collect you and charge on the return journey. If you can try to use the same cabbie they tend to lower their prices for you.
As regards the hotel, it was very clean, the pool was well maintained and even though im fussy i couldnt note any real problems. There`s a good tv channel with regular movies too. At about 7pm a guy comes around with what looks like a smoke machine and this apprently serves to kill all the mosquitoes - it must have worked since neither me or my partner had a single bite! We did have a problem with a broken bed spring, when we arrived and everyone seemed to think we might have broken it - unfortunately this was not the case. It was rectified farly quickly though. One thing is that the hotel management can be quite exact and will charge supplements for a late check out, though they offered us a small courtesy since we had some minor complaints with our room.
In summary the best points of Egypt were: friendly people, beautiful weather, easy transportation, flexible prices, amazingly green grass (please note the irony that they are always using hoses to water the trees and green areas!-hose pipe ban ? i dont think so) Bad points: small choice at breakfast, poor value meals at the hotels - this wouldnt stop me going again. When i do go again ill go room only if possible or check out a hotel that offers a decent breakfast menu - if i cant find one ill go back to the mexicana. Im looking forward to see how the buildings surrounding the hotel look, im sure its going to be an even more beautiful resort within a year or two."

All Inclusive Not!!!!!!!!!!
"We have just returned from a 2 week holiday from hell in the mexicana. The food was terrible with each of my family at some point having tummy bugs and feeling ill (not what you want in 40 degree heat with 3 small kids) the food was also very tasteless and exactly the same on offer every mealtime. DONT GO ALL INCLUSIVE! It isnt what you think it is going to be. snacks have to be paid for as do drinks after 11pm. Ice creams are only served between 4pm and 5pm for one hour and the children must be younger than 8yrs old. We were informed that only 2 of our kids were allowed ice creams as they were classed as kids my 13 year old was considered adult.
The pool is lovely and the staff are all very friendly and considerate whick we found to be sweet when you take into account how they are treated by their management. All in all i wouldnt go back to the Mexicana as it lacks the necessary for an all inclusive holiday.
This was our first visit to sharm and we were looking forward to it so much after having spent 2 wonderful weeks in tunisia last saummer where the all inclusive meant just that.
The coral at the beaches was wonderful and the snorkelling and scuba diving exquisite. Diamond beach and sharks bay are wonderful safe beaches with corals and fish so colourful its such a shame that the best corals and diving have to be in such a terrible and dirty and unkept place.
We would only return to sharm on a bed and breakfast or self catering option and eat out as the food is so cheap in restraunts in old sharm and namma bay.
Beware of the shopkeepers as they are a nightmare for dragging you into their shops and wasting your holiday time. Even In turkey (which is bad for this kind of thing) we have not experienced this so bad"

very friendly hotel
"my partner and I have just returned from the mexicana sharm and I must say I am surprised by the recent reviews of the hotel. We stayed on a b+b basis which suited us fine but dont expect a great deal of choice (lots of eggs!).
We found the pool bar for snacks at lunchtime more than adequate for the cheap price.
Pizza Hut,KFC and Mcdonalds will all deliver to reception for free if you fancy a change for lunch (these are based in Naama Bay but food piping hot when arrived). We ate out in Naarma Bay at night.
I would definately advise against going All Inclusive at this hotel as there are no activities whatsoever day or night but this suited us as we went to Naama Bay every night.
We only paid £288 each for a two week stay here so I think we more than got our moneys worth.
The rooms were spacious and clean with a huge bed and the towels were changed every day.Our bed was decorated with petals on my partners birthday.
I did find the staff here very friendly and not too "in your face" (apart from the masseur but he got the message after first week). The staff here do not expect constant tipping like the ones in the more expensive hotels in Sharm. Overall a very enjoyable holiday but dont go to Sharm if you cant handle being pestered by shopkeepers! Would recommend"

I give you special price....
"Just returned from Mexicana with my mum. Rooms were beautiful, huge powerful walk in showers, spacious rooms and terrace and large comfortable single beds. We went B&B but ate at the Italian Alfredos a few times, food was lovely and staff were 100 times nicer than in the main restaurant. Want to mention Ayman who is a star, extremely friendly and helpful and puts the other staff to shame. Avoid going to the shop next door to Alfredos as the guy who runs it is too touchy feely and made me feel extremely uncomfortable on my last day there. Ate in the main restaurant twice, first time the food was cold and not much variety, the second time it was lovely with lots to choose from, mostly Arabic food which i love anyway. The pools were gorgeous, the main one with a swim up bar was the best, towels are provided clean each day, plenty of loungers to go around. No entertainment at the hotel except for pool side music but Naama Bay and the Old Market are not far from the hotel were there's plenty going on. Had a lovely time apart from contracting gastroenteritis on my second to last day...not a pleasant flight home but had a wicked holiday!"

Nice hotel shame about the manager
"I have been to this hotel twice, but never in my life have i seen a manager treat staff the way i did here. this manager was nasty and i did actually see him physically hit a member of staff, his overall attitude was very bad and he has done no favours for this hotel, as the last tiime i went there i had a fab time, the staff were so freindly and helpful that i made a lot of good friends who i keep in touch with, but this manager was horrible and i know that he has pushed staff out of work when it is so hard to find work there in the first place. I hope others have seen this managers behaviour and the owners get rid off him, in fact maybe the owners should read these reviews!!!!!!!"

Nice Hotel, Bad Service
"Me and my partner have just come back from the mexicana resort
its a lovely hotel rooms are nicely furnished with plenty of room and very clean,
the food was nice but it was the same kind of thing every day
70% off the staff lacked customer service skills and seemed very rude at times
the shuttle bus was very good arrived on time and the driver was plesant also a local taxi outside the hotel was very good.
the mexican beach is rocky its ok for sunbathing and has no fish in there as the water is shallow, but the diamond beach is very good for snorkeling and sunbathing,
i would advise anybody buying drinks from the hotel to buy them from the local shops due to the rip off prices..
overall it was a beautiful hotel, pools were nice but the staff let it down."

great peaceful holiday
"spent two weeks here, just got back. this hotel was great (we booked a suite)so spacious lounge and kitchen with tv, large bedroom with plenty of wardrobes and draws and a shower in clean bathroom. cleaner did lovley things making towels into swans etc and scattering petals and flower which was lovley.the food was varied and you could choose a pasta dish to be cooked.if you want a nice relaxed holiday with friendly people this is for you. There is not any entertainment but we enjoyed the pool bar and talking and playing cards.Great value for money, would definatley recommend, some people moaned about the food, these people expect 5 star,if they pay 5 star it would cost alot more. i would rate this 4 star but its much better value than some 5 star hotels in sharm. pools are lovley too.staff exellent."
