"My friend and I recently stayed at this hotel. it was clean and functional. cleaned every day,the cleaner kept on leaving us elaborate sculptures on the bed, made out of towels.nice touch. the room was compact, but at least the air con worked even if the little fridge didn't. the food was pretty random, but filled a hole. mostly stew/casseroles of meat or fish with veg or rice.breakfast consisted of processed cheese and mystery meat, omelette, bread products.Ate out in town most nights as it was dirt cheap.lobster for two £20. KFC and Pizza hut available as well.try a shisha and brew while you are out!!!
I can highly recommend Emperor divers on site.I took a scuba divers course,140 euro, and it was fantastic.the staff were very friendly and professional and I will return later in the year to continue my course.Excellent hotel for Divers to holiday in if your happy with a B&B type hotel.maybe 3 stars, but they're a bit tarnished.I'd still go back though!!!

"I have to say I paid £40 for a twin for 2 nights here and I wasn't sure what I would get. The rooms are decorated nicely and the rooms are all clean and looked after well. The swimming pool and general areas offer all the usual facilities and there are some nice cabana type beds. I've stayed at the hilton here too and to be fair, Bay View isn't better but definately more value for money with everything you need. It's also very close to the nightlife without having to hear it when you go to bed"

"My wife and I stayed at the Bay View in March 09. Our opinion of the hotel changed whilst we were there. When we arrived, although the reception is lovely, our first impression of our room was "it's basic". However, once we'd settled in after a day or 2, we realised the room was more than adequate; it was large, plenty of storage space, the air-con worked brilliantly, good size bed (although it was 2 beds pushed together), and we never knew how many different shapes you can make out of a bath towel(!).
The rest of the hotel was well set out. There's the central courtyard, which has chairs, tables, sofas to laze around. There's the well sized pool which, while we were there, was never busy. On a couple of occasions they roped half of it off for diving lessons, but that didn't spoil it in any way. There's plenty of room for sun-bathing, relaxing in the shade in one of the straw covered comfy shelters, you can also have an excellent massage for only £20. Then there's the 4 bars! One in reception, one by the pool, one above the restaurant and another one on the roof (which gives a fabulous view over Naama Bay & the mountains beyond). I have never spent a more comfortable few beers while watching England thrash France in the Six Nations.
However, (there always has to be one problem), although the breakfast was "ok", allegedly the evening meals are not impressive. We met a Dutch couple who had a full board package, who said they got fed up of the lack of choice and the blandness of the food. If you want a good restaurant to eat in nearby (you can see it from the entrance of the hotel) please read my review of Mahony's restaurant.
Overall, considering you're unlikely to spend that much time in your room, except for sleeping, washing and changing, the hotel is fantastic value for money and has an excellent location (3 minute walk from the main street in Naama, but none of the hustle and bustle). Also, the owner has a very cute dog.
PS - if you choose to stay here you will no doubt be confronted by a couple of guys when you're walking down to the main street. Their names are Timu and Rami and will ask you if you want to go into a shop called "Love School" near the hotel. I highly recommend you listen to them and go! You'll meet the shop-owner Abdullah who's a great bloke (see photo). He invited us to eat camel (delicious) with him and he has the best perfumes and papyrus in Sharm. Not only that, he can sort out excursions and get a cheaper price for you than what the Egyptians pay (as long as you haggle of course!)."

Cheap and Cheerful

"We stayed at Bay View Hotel for a week (12th march to 19th march 2009).
At first we were a little disappointed because it looked a little dull, boring, small and badly maintained.

We checked in and were escorted to our room - where the dispppointment REALLY kicked in. When we first walked in we noticed the room was like an empty hall with a bit of furniture to make it look like a room.
The decor was quite bad - more like a DIY job than professional
The bathroom was small - yet had the facilities we needed - however the actual shower didn't have any water force whatsoever.
So we called the reception and they sent some guy with an Oxygen tank to try and pump the shower - which seem to work.
But then the water would constantly switch from cold to hot - which was unbelieveable annoying.
You will need insect repellent too - as the insects have a massive sweet tooth.

Despite all that - the room is clean which was crucial....but as time passed we got quite use to our room and became quite comfortable there...so we did enjoy our stay.....we just didn't bother the staff and didn't use the facilities apart from the pool.

We only came back to the hotel to sleep and shower - so for those of you who wanna spend most your time at the hotel on Half Board or All Inc - my advice is.....DON'T!

The breakfast was a wide selection of bread, fruit and juices. If you wanted anything hot...you get a boiled egg , toast and the standard tea and coffee.
Food was a total disappointment - but then again Naama Bay is literally a 2min walk down the road -
But they don't allow food from outside which i think is unfair considering what they offer within the hotel - we had a bag of bottled water and crisps and they got funny about that! But then we sometimes snuck our food in......

Reception staff were totally clueless - and useless - otherwise cleaning staff were fantastic with their imaginative bath towel animal creations.
Nothing is complimentary - not even shower gel.

The location was absolutely perfect - it was in very close distance to the busy restaurants, bars and clubs but you could also have a nice quiet, relaxing time back at the hotel.
The hotel don't organise any excursions so don't even bother asking them - try Orbit (in Naama Bay) their the cheapest we found.

Oh and remember; Check out is at 12.00 - if you check out after this time they charge you 100 Egyptian Pounds.

Overall - the hotel was decent enough for 1 weeks stay on a B&B basis. Its clean, comfortable and has the facilities we need. So if your looking for somewhere clean, comfortable with a fab pool area and close to Naama Bay then Bay View is definitely cheap and cheerful.
Anything beyond that....look elsewhere."

"We stayed here to be near to Emperor Divers which has justed moved to the hotel. The hotel was clean and tidy and had what we needed. The rooms aren't large but they do have superior rooms which are a good size. There is a fridge and air con and the bathroom is fine with a good shower.

On the first couple of days there was an issue with breakfasts - no-one here to cook the omlettes and pancakes and had to wait around. However after a quick word with the hotel manager, the service immediately improved - excellent customer service. didn't have any other meals at the hotel so can't comment.

The pool is large - 22m long and plenty of sunbeds with cushions. However, half of the pool is often roped off for the use of the dive centre which may be a problem with families.

The open air bar next to the pool is great and your can order snacks and light meals from there. if you are diving with Emperor you get a 20% discount off drinks.

The dive centre is run just a effeciently as it also was when located at the Rosetta. In fact, everything is more compact so easier for guests and the facilities are now better.

5 minutes walk into Naama Bay and even though there is building work at the back of the hotel at the moment, this wouldn't put me off - going back in May!!

A very comfortable dive hotel."

Good Value, Well Located And Friendly

"We booked a week here and a week at the Amar Sina as we couldn't decide which to choose (see separate review for Amar Sina). We were very pleased with the Bay View, the only downside is the building work going on behind the hotel. The price at 20 GBP per night for double room B&B through holidaynights.co.uk reflects this.

The location is excellent, a five minute walk into the centre but in a quiet location (at least it will be when the works have finished). Staff are very friendly, helpful and relaxed, no hard sell here. Most rooms don't have a view, none have balconies but they are spacious, clean and comfortable. The pool is warm and the surrounds are nice with a pool bar open daytime. Thankfully no music playing. There is also a lovely rooftop bar with good views. The included buffet breakfast was excellent. The pool area is shared with the Emperor Diving Centre.

The included hotel beach (Wind Beach) is a ten minute walk. It has very comfortable double sunbeds with 6 inch thick foam mattresses, usually quite busy. They do play quite loud music all day but it is a very high quality sound system and tasteful music so we didn't find it irritating. Some might. Some of the beach sellers are a bit pushy, especially the henna tattoo man who gets quite aggressive if you don't want to talk to him. Great for non swimmers and kids here as very shallow.

The only downside here is the building work on the hill behind the pool where a large three storey building is going up. The shuttering was being nailed together and the concrete poured o the upper floors so the noisiest part may soon be over. It is only an issue if you want to sit around the pool during the day and is liveable with even then. Pool view rooms may get some noise (there are only about six of these), other rooms will be unaffected.

Hotel internet is pricey, the cafe round the corner is less than half the price."

2 Star in Sharm

"Bay View Hotel is the the cheap and cheery type of hotel favoured by the locals. Compare to the more luxious hotels nearby this hotel is dated and basic, as reflexed in the price. Nevertheless it is situated at the end of Naama Bay, close to resturants and walking distance to the jetty.. We booked a dive package via Tony Backhurst, I would say the dive centre OXGENE which is located in the hotel premises, is not professionally run, despite its claimed status.

There are no facilities to pay your bar bills by credit card, and the management insist on settlement with cash in Egyptian pounds.

The hotel was said to be recently refurbished, I dread to think what this place is like before that!"

I enjoyed my stay

"It's pretty decent as a 3 star hotel. The location is near Namaa bay, around 5 minutes walk, which is great. The room was spacious although it wasn't that luxurious. Even though the hotel doesn't have its own beach, but it provides its guests access to other beaches, at least you get to go to more than one beach and the pool is big and deep. The food was tasty though not much variety. The receptionists were friendly and co-operative. I loved the decorations and chandeliers in the lobby :)
Overall it's a decent place to stay at with good view, location and a reasonable price"

Not up to much

Poor

"Described as "a 3 star 90 room hotel conveniently situated 2 mins walk from Naama Bay". In reality, nothing special at all and it would be a poor place to spend a holiday. There is a largish pool at the back of the hotel, overlooked by a building site - this is also used for diver training. The rooms are large and servicable but have little in terms of comforts. Three lightbulbs did not work in our room and the telephone was broken. The restaurent serves very poor food, better to eat out somewhere nearby. Check-in and out was efficient."
