Amarante Garden Palms Resort

"Went to the Garden Palms hotel in December with my husband, can't really complain about a thing. Staff were friendly, not overbearing, and were always willing to help. I must mention Asama (the pool attendant at the heated pool) he was fantastic and always made sure my husband and I had a sunbed in the sun. We found the food okay for our one week holiday but think if we had stayed any longer food might have got boring. Recommend going to Naama Bay - it is so cheap to eat out. Also recommend going to the Camel Bar - it has all the premiership football games on. Must mention the weather - it was 80+ during the day and about 60-70 on a night. So perfect for a winters holiday. Last thing I must mention for all you girls going is my hair-straighteners worked fine."

Excellent hotel - loved it- cant wait to go back !!!!
"Booked this hotel after seeing that lots of people were booking it as a winter break. Being a Travel Agent I was curious to see what I was missing. I am so glad that I went and that I picked this hotel. I was very nervous about getting a tummy upset on this holiday but that was not the case. The food is excellent and there is so much choice. The hotel offers themed nights aswell so you can give different foods a try. The italian on site is well worth a visit and the food is lovely. You can see the food being cooked fresh from your table - the only complaint was that I could not move after I was so full. You get a choice of 4 courses. Overall there is something for any taste including a kids corner in the main restaurant. Also if you do not fancy venturing to far from your sunbed they serve hot and cold snacks from 11 - 5 at the pool bar.
The hotel is kept imacuate. The staff are always cleaning all around. You get a fresh bed and towels everyday, sometimes in shapes of animals.
The hotel entertainment is poor and consists of dancing and entertainers but only lasts about 1/2 hour to 1 hour and is followed by a disco or you can sit in the lobby bar or up on the terrace bar which has a pool table.
The sister hotel the Oasis Grand is not really worth a visit as the beach is on a hill and is very gravely and you enter the sea from a jetty. Guests from the tropicana can only use the beach restaurant not the main one and I was put off by the fact birds are eating at the rolls if not covered.
I would suggest taking plenty of pound coins, because if you tip the staff a couple of pound coins they love it and you get vip treatment, expiecally tip the sunbed guy as everyone gets up to save there sunbeds and he will save them for you and the waiters will serve drinks to you as you lie by the pool.
You can also book a thai massage on site which ranges from £12.00 for a foot massasge done by the pool if you like to £50 for a full body massage.
Overall if you are looking for a relaxing hotel with excellent weather and food then this is the one I would recommend. There are plenty of excursions bookable and you can swim with dolphins for £50 or quad bike in the desert for £25 or go to see the pyramids for approx £180 by flight.
I hope this has been helpful."

"What can I say?! This is one of the best holidays I've had so far... most definitely return to the same place and same hotel.
The staff are unbelievably friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is spotlessly clean, as to are the bedrooms. We were also suprised at the size of the rooms! We had a twin room and it was massive- plenty of space.
There was so much lot variety when it came to the food, all of which was delicious. Had no problems at all with the food, just stayed clear of salad (as washed in their water) and obviously ice-cubes.
The pool areas were clean (there are two pools) and sunbeds also in good condition.
The only aspect I would suggest improving is the hotel entertainment... quite repetitive and not very exciting- but nothing's perfect! And besides, if you're anything like us then you will meet lots of new people who you can sit and chat to, so it won't matter what the entertainment is anyway!
Highly recommend this resort, very good value for money."

"Just back from this uniquely friendly and relaxing hotel. The staff could not have done more to make our stay any better. The atmosphere in the hotel strikes you as friendly and pleasant the minute you go through the door. Yes there are plastic glasses at the pool area, a sensible safe option I would have thought but at no time did we have any concerns re hygiene. The food is excellent and plentiful choice. Take elasticated clothes you will need them!! The resort is lively with innumerable excursions to go on. Note well, if you book with Thompsons for the excursions you will be paying anything from 50% more than the local tour operators. The local tour operators are so glad for the business and run a professional and friendly service and go out there way to ensure you get the most from any trip you undergo with them."

"I have just returned back home 17.11.2005
Flew with Thomsonfly (Britannia airways) nice plane and flight once we actually got going.Sharm El Sheikh airport is a bit of a nightmare cannot cope with the amount of visitors took an hour to get our luggage ! But I did notice they are currently expanding.
Arrival to the hotel was beautiful and the staff absolutely fantastic from day one to day seven.
I found the drinks from the upstair bar nicer as they seemed to be a bit more giving with the alcohol and the coke was never flat.I have to agree that I was not keen on the plastic cups given to guests at the pool bar and suggested to them to invest in some cheap dispoable ones.Bottle water is constantly on the flow and most definately needed.
The food is fab something for everyone breakfast lunch and dinner the only time I found it lukewarm was when I had it from the Oriental section outside.
As for sickeness I think its just the Egyptian air the 1st day or two my bowels were a bit more active but nothing to be alarmed about this is Africa remember !
Entertainment was disappointingstarted at 9.30 and only lasted 30-45 minutes then turned into a disco We used the time after to go shopping in Naama Bay as night is defianetly best as they sleep most of the day so not all the shops are open.
Went to the sister hotel for the day which was nice for the day but I'm glad I picked garden palms and not the Grand Oasis. Also went to El Gafy beach which was full of rude Italians and Russians so never stayed went back to the hotel as they have large sunbeds anyway(single bed size) but yes i'm afraid you cannot get away with people leaving towels on the sunbeds.
I could go on and on so if you have any questions email me [email protected]"

"Stayed here for 2 wks All Inc. Got first bad feeling sat at the pool bar and my glass (or plastic) of water reeked of pernod. The cups, plates, glasses in the restaurant as often cracked and filthy, as is the cutlery. Check it carefully. The food is lukewarm whatever time you eat unless you go for the soup which is tasty and hot. The hotel manager (a very big guy) is quite unhelpful and was, I felt, very threatening when I asked for help getting a broken suitcase fixed or tied up. The noise is unreal from aircraft, they are so low you can read the underside and come by very regularly throughout the day & night. Very noisy. As was the party being held at the Hyatt Regency until 4am. The rooms are basic, there are no balconies. The bathroom hot water supply varies between pale yellow and bright orange. Our rep Sue was hopeless. We booked a Monday trip to St Katherine's with her but got woken at 5.45am on the Saturday by an irate receptionist telling us we were holding up the bus! Monday came and we sat in reception as directed, from 5.45am to 7am, the bus didn't come for us!! The rep said sorry it was her fault and we could go Wed, but we had arranged to meet someone so got a refund. Guess what happened 5.45am Wed - we were woken by the irate receptionist telling us the bus was waiting for us!!! The beaches (some way away) are packed and pretty ugly. Never again. Came back feeling run down and having to go back to work feeling worse than when we went!"

"We spent a week in the tropicana garden palms in oct only returned on 24th. We had a great holiday. Rooms were clean and so was the pool area.
The food was good but needs to be a bit warmer, most meals were lukewarm!!! Definitely take some immodium with you!
The main thing that let the hotel down were the glasses. The reusable plastic tumblers used by the pool need to be replaced - you got a lager that smelled of pernod, they were not washed properly and lots were cracked and scruffy. The occassional nice larger glass would have been welcomed.
As many people have previously mentioned the wine was disgusting and should be avoided. The bar and waiter staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome everyday. They work extremely hard and don't deserve the abuse they get from the other nationalities!! They were extremely rude and abrupt.
We obviously went on a quiet week as sunbeds were plentiful and we had no problems getting 5-7 beds together. You must change your beach towel on an evening and get a clean one each morning otherwise you won't get one!
Visiting the sister hotel BEACH area only is a must as the snorkelling is fantastic and a must but go early as sunbeds are popular there(or go after lunch).
The sea is gorgeous and warm and full of fish.
I would not return to this hotel as there are many more wonderful places to go in the world, but going in oct was good for the weather we never saw a cloud once! Due to Ramamdam the clocks had altered so sun was up early 6am(and so were we) and set by 4.30-5pm. Hope you have found this review helpful."

"Just arrived back yesterday, 24th and we are already booking again for February!! Everything was without exception of the highest standard, the food, the staff, the rooms, the pools, the hygiene, there was absolutely nothing we could fault about this hotel. The staff are among the hardest working, honest and friendly people we have met, and we have travelled in many parts of the world.
The restaurant is second to none, the food is amazing with something for even the fussiest of palates. There is such variety, including sheperds pie, beef wellington, roast chicken, duck, fish, lamb, beef, oriental, russian and lot's more, all beautifully presented, cooked and more importently tasty. I have a very specific dietery requirment and the head chef prepared and cooked seperate meals for me every single day, always offering suggestions or asking what I would like. For the first time ever I had no problems whatsoever!!!........whatever you need they will do their utmost to ensure you get it.
The hotel is in it's own grounds away from any hussle and bussle but you can use the free scheduled shuttle bus to Naama Bay (town) and the sister hotel (beach access) all of which are only about ten mins away. To be honest we used the hotel taxi as much as the shuttle bus as it's only £2.50 and you have the freedom to come and go as you please.
The hygiene and attention to detail at this hotel would put a lot of top UK hotels to shame, it is exceptional and second to none!
If you fancy doing the "dolphin swim".....DO IT!!......it is half the price of Discovery Cove in Disney Florida and just two of you with one dolphin for a full and quality half hour!!.BRILLIANT! Also do the Ras Mahammad boat trip even if like me you are terrified of the sea, fish etc etc.......I went once and then booked a second trip.....if you don't snorkel you WILL regret it.
Anyway, enough out of me........just go.....simple as!!.....you won't regret it, particularly if you try to say a few words in Arabic......just hello, goodbye, thanks etc.
Enjoy and we might even see you there!

One of the best hotels i've been to
"Not many brochures have this hotel in them, so it was always nice to get on here and read how good this hotel is.
This was my 5th time in Sharm and have stayed in a different hotel each time...from 3 to 5 star.
The garden Palms is rated a 4 star and it rivals any 5 !
We arrived at the hotel at 9.50pm and went to check in. We took a taxi rather than the arranged transfers as its so close to the airport and then we didnât have to wait for everyone else and stop at every hotel on the way !
The receptionist welcomed us and immediately told us to go to the restaurant as it was closing in 10 mins.."Forget checking in, go and have some food then come back at your leisure". Well that was a FANTASTIC first impression. The receptionist, Ehab, went on to make our holiday and was one of the friendliest members of staff.
All the staff are friendly and they work very hard for long hours. The staff are plentiful for such a small hotel, this is good of course. It goes without saying that if you are friendly towards the staff, you get much more out of them..Try telling that to some rude idiots.
I am happy to answer emails in relation to Sharm or the hotel as I can go on and on about either and I donât want to ramble on ! So if you have got a specific question..ask away !
My email is [email protected]
You canât go wrong staying at this hotel. I rarely do repeat visits to the same hotel, but I will on this one."

Great 2 week, improvememnts everydat too!!
"My father, sister and I stayed 11th-25th Nov 12 here. I had read lots of different reports good and bad about the hotel but ignored them like I always do. This hotel had a previous poor manager but the new team are there to make improvements and these happened everyday.Food in another country is always a difficult thing for any foriegn hotel to get right, But a new chef is helping here.all you have to do is ask and they will do what they can. They need feedback so they can be realistic in how they make improvements for british holiday makers etc so tell them. They also arranged transfers with hotel's taxi to and from the airport, very cheap and ofcourse quicker than the transfer shuttle, did this thru' email with reception. We had a good time there and the staff are really wonderful can't fault them from the guys who sweep the floors to the new managers there are no compaints from us. We also required some meds for my father and the pharmacists on the hotel front and the clinic doc on site were brilliant. I will go back to this hotel again as I am confident it will be even better in the future, What do you go on holiday for good food good accomedation and mostly the good weather. We got it all but are confident there is more still to come from this hotel complex in the future, excellent will be tagged with it's name."
