Fantastic place to enjoy the sun and relax!
"We are a couple aged mid twenties and wanted a holiday in the sun to relax and get some culture.
Like many others we were mislead to believe we were booking the Beach Hotel when we initally booked via teletext but we realised the error before we left for the holiday so weren't at all disappointed when we arrived. The hotel is really nicely laid out and the garden area is really well looked after (staff were constantly working on it). The main pool is ideal and really big so you could still enjoy it whilst the pool activities (water polo & areobics) were going on. The beach was also lovely and there were always planty of free sunlongers (even when the hotel was full in our second week). The beach bar also serves food so you don't have to go back to the club.
Our room was very clean and spacious and we could have our towels changed everyday if we wanted. Also, they leave a bottle of water for you each day and there is a fridge to keep it cool in. All the staff were extremely kind and friendly and wanted to do all they could for us, especially as we're english and most guests in the hotel were german or russian.
The food was always really good and there was loads to choose from. The pastries and cakes were particularly amazing (try the omari on Egyptian night) - it's like bread & butter pudding but creamier and made with croissants! ! We tried to resist but had cake at lunch and dinner every day-whoops! You also get one a-la-carte meal in the seperate bistro restaurant which was really nice and it felt like a special night out as it's waiter service there as opposed to the help-yourself buffet which you get used to in the main restaurant. It felt like a real treat and at no extra cost! Breakfast was served late into the morning and evening dinner was served late into the evening which was great because we hate having to get up early or stick to strict eating times - it was really flexible.
I recommend trying a 'deisel' which is half coke and half lager - surprisingly nice and really freshing. I was impressed at how much choice there was with the drinks and you could even have a simple cocktail (quite sickly though).
We did a few day trip's including to Luxor which was really good and the temples and tombs were fasinating. It's a long day but well worth it! They day afterwards we treated oursleves to a day at the spa at the Beach Hotel which was lovely - really good value as you pay to use it all day so can go in and out as you please.
We also went out on the snorkling boat trip which was brilliant value - 25 euros and we spent the whole day on the boat, had two chances to snorkle, the first one was on a beautiful reef, a stop off at paradise island which once you got away from the crowds was idillic, plus we were fed and watered!
the only negative thing I would say is that you have to be firm but polite with the sales men as they can be quite full on and try to be your friend and invite you into their shop with egptian tea then make you feel obliged to buy something. We just made sure we said no thanks and that we had to go because we had an appointment at the spa or on a trip etc. They love to practice their english too so it's hard to get away but you get fed up and start getting firm pretty quickly.
I highly recommend this hotel and we had a fantstic time - you can't fault the weather (it only rains for half hour per year!!!) and everything else was ideal. We really didn't want to leave!"

Don't go if you love your lady!
"The staff are animals! My wife turned up a few hours before me by which time she'd been chatted up, followed to her room, touched and all round intimidated. All depends upon how much you loe your lady!
Far from 5 star experience!"

"Last mintue booking via teletext with FreedomDirect as the travel agent. All the pictuires on teletxt were of the Steigenberger Beach Hotel not the Club so beware. All the write up on teletext was of Steigenberger Beach Hotel not club including resturants, facilities , rooms etc.
On arrival very surprised to be taken to the club as it looked nothing like the pictures we had looked at on teletext. Took 5 minutes to figure we were in a different hotel to which we had thought we had booked and we could see the one we thought we were in across the road. Asked to get move and hotel staff were 100% unhelpful. Onsite rep was 100% unhelpful. Three phone calls to UK Freedoom direct who were 100% unhelpful.
Freedoom Direct eventually called back 36 hrs after we had called them when they had promised to get back to us straight away. The message they left sayed the Steigenberger beach was full and we could not move and we were in what we had been sold and the website was correct.
It took 20 minutes to prove the other hotel was in fact near empty and there were several other couples in the hotel with exactly the same complaints.
On to the hotel itself, the room we were given was smaller than a travel lodge room. Stunk of smoke although it was supposed to be no smoking, had lose floor tiles everywhere and was directly above the entertainment lounge so noise. On par with a grotty UK guest house. Next day we paid to be upgraded to a room in another block which was better but was nothing special.
Food was very basic to poor with limited choice. Service from staff was poor but this had a lot to do with not enough of them serving. My wife was fuming as one member served me drinks but refused to serve her! Cleaning staff were good.
Overall I would rate this hotel as poor compared to others I have experienced in Egypt And for the Â£500 plus that we ended up spending each it was very poor value.
I would recommend you go elsewhere.
Our pre-paid transfers did not arrive to take us back to the airport just to round the week off.
In summary I have to say that my view is probably tainted by the fact it was not the hotel what we had thought we had booked. The travel agent is the one at most fault. That said the hotel is still very poor value.
We do not complain as a rule as this is only our 3rd package holiday and I am loath to book another one. In travelling in over 60 countries we normally book flights and hotels seperate and do not use a travel agent and that is what I will be going back to.

Amazing hotell area
"This was an amazing hotell, the hotell area was so beutifull.
After we had ordered our trip, I checked out the Hotell here at Trip Advisor. And then I was really scared, I was wondering if we should cancel our trip because of all the bad things that was written about the hotell, but I`m glad we diden`t do that.
The hotell was so nice! There was much security at the entrance, so we felt really safe.
If we went over to the other side of the road ,and into the beach side it was amazing! The sight was just so beutiful. This was a lovely place. There are many pools and lots of fun things to do!

"i have also read about the hotel and how many that thinks it was not good, we can not agree, for the price it is so good, and we love the humor and kindlynes from the people there, the rooms was fine, the food ok, and the beach and the food there if you dont want to leave . and one day of your stay you can go to taverna restaurant to eat, very nice candeligt dinner. and the animation team was good , and if you want entertainment in the evening it is , and you can go to steigenberger beach hotel if you want. Of course if you want more exclucive then those another, but for us it was fine. Also you can take taxi to Sekkala very cheep , if yuo want to buy. and take a trip to see wonderfull egypt. Elsebeth"

Nice Hotell to a nice price :)
"So many people have written so much bad about this Hotell!
But It`s really nice! :) We came on the 19th of january and stayd for one week. The food was really good and you had alot to chose from, chicken, turky, beef, calamari, fish, liver, and alot of salad and cake, you could always find something that you liked. The brekfast omlett was really good! and the pizza on the beach.
The hotel was really nice, on the outside and the inside. the staff was really nice, and if you had a problem they were always there to help you. we are so happy with our stay! and we ate at the hotel almost every day.
We would love to come back to this hotel! :)

Avoid this hotel
"Date of our stay: 9th to 15th November 2008
We have booked this hotel trusting the Steigenberger brand name for world class hotels. We know it was not the 5* Al Dau Beach, but on arrival we were really disappointed.
Our room nr. 5013 was without balcony, very small, not very well cleaned and with furniture that "has seen better times". Room service was quick - but not efficient: When calling for a block of ice that we discovered in our mini bar, they just put a towel and said it is OK. Cleaning was never done properly.
Every evening at the reception, talk was about the "Club 4*" and the "Beach 5*": apparently the confusion between these two very different hotels was a leading issue amongst travelers.
The worst is that you get a blue all-inclusive bracelet. This is good in the Club - but makes you an outlaw in the Beach hotel on the other side of the road where the beach is. Staff of the Beach spots Club guests and tells them to go to their beach - Steigenberger is putting its guests in a very uncomfortable situation of being the "second class customers".
The meals in the all-inclusive formula were simply not eatable - no way of having a nice meal here.
In conclusion, DO avoid this hotel! It is misleading of Steigenberger to put their name on this hotel - they should name it "basic club - by Steigenberger" to avoid confusion."

Dedfinitely NOT s 5 star experience.
"If you expect a 5 star service in a 5 str hotel, then do not book this hotel.
The rooms are 'upmarket motel' standard, cheap complemetnary products, very poorly stocked mini bar and old model TV sets with poor reception.
The lobby is certainly impressive, water features, lounges and in good decorative state.
Reception staff are surly at times, drinks expensive, buffet foods not piping hot and there seems to be a lot of hassle for something which should be easy! Has an Ibeiza themed feel to the whole experience, people cramming food on plates like it's going out of fashion!
Beach and pools cannot be faulted...location, location!"

"Well, I stayed in this hotel in April for a week. The stay was business related. The lobby is amazing and the rooms are clean, big, and real nice. The balconies overlook the pools and the red sea (though the red sea is a bit far). The beach was real nice except for some german and russian men who kept on totally undressed n the beach; which I found weird.
One annoying thing was that my card kept on getting inactivated (and no, it was not real my phone :-)) and kept on going back to get a new one. The funny part is that the card would not even work for the lights so had to call them, took them 30 minutes (!) to send a technician who ended up by telling that I had to get a card with the hotel logo. The staff are very inefficient and a simple query requires half an hour discussion. For example, we went to the beach and exchanged some cards that they gave us for towels. At 6 pm, all the staff disappeared. So when we tried to get our cards back, we were sent from one division to another. We threw at the end the towels at the reception and demanded our cards immediately. One minor thing, if you stay in this hotel you may have to flush 2-3 times :-)"
