really good compared to the other hotels in hrgh
"Hotel is really ok!! I spent there one week with my wife in february. The only thing that really disapointed me was EXTREMALY COLD water in the pool!! Don t U even think about swimming there (february)!!!
U must go on a trip to FOUR ISLAND which is organised by the hotel touroperator on the beach (30euro-worth it!). Giftun island is amazing!!
Staff is very annoying, disturbing U, offering drinks or just a chat..I kept hear "where r u from my friend?", "how r u my friend?", etc.
In general: we enjoyed!"

Great great great
"Me, my mother and my sister went to hurghada egypt in november 2006, not knowing what to expect or how it´s gonna be.
We were so pleasent surprised over everything, to start with the hotel, it was amazing, beautiful, great poolarea, gret arcitecture, good staf and great food.
We went there just to get away from sweden and the typical swedish weather =)..to the sun and the beach, so our expections were not high from the start, we just wanted to relax, but the stay in grand seas resort was cool as hell, we made a lot of friends from other countrys, to our surprise there were a lot of younger people that week lucky for me and my sister (she was 19 and i 24 at that time =) ).
The only negative thing was the russians and i mean the russian men, my god they were crazy and really annoying, drunk jurks ...sorry but it is true..hahaha
I can for real recommend this hotel, my trip to hurghada was great, and the animators at that time were great =) they took good care of us, and we danced like hell in the nightclub..it was crowded and the music was good.
I will definetly go back there some day =)

Good resort in Hurghada
"Finding a last minute travel trough an Norwegian charter company, we ended up at Grand Seas Resort.
At arrival at the resort, we had to leave our luggage by the stairs, waiting for check in, before the staff carried it to our room. We were told that this was standard procedure, but of course it is only a method for the egyptian staff to be able to ask for a tip. The stay did not start to well when the guy who carried our luggage to our room, almost denied to go out before he got at least 50-100 egyptian pounds in tip (an amout which is about 30 times the recommended amount). Check in was also quite slow, so we waited aprox 15 minutes for our room.
The room itself was really big with a nice balcony. Tiles on the floor, ok colours, bathtub and two twin beds (although both big enough to fit two persons, so we only used one of them). Not to much furniture but still a positive experience.
The pool area is really nice, however it is a drawback that the pool is not heated, resulting in a water temperature on 15-16 degrees, which actually was 1 or 2 lower than in the sea. Really nice beach area with possibilities of water sports. The animation team also arranged beach volleyball games and boccia on the beach, as well as courses in belly dancing and latino by the pool. Pool staff is very polite, although they can come by asking you two buy something a time or two too much, but be polite, and they will usually leave you alone. There are also quite a few sales men there, but most of them actually have some good experiences to offer (remember that you can also bargain with them).
The resort also has two tennis courts, although only one of them were in use when we visited. It is possible to rent rackets an balls, however I found the equiptment very well used, so they should invest in some new. The health club at the Grand Seas also offers a variety of massages at a nice price level, although their premises also could do with a make over.
Otherwise most staff are polite, the food is ok (although i found more cakes than food at the breakfast buffet, and I thought there were little variety at the dinner buffet in the main restaurant). I would therefore rather recommend to eat at the two other restaurants at the hotel. The hotel also offer "their own" taxi service, although you might be able to get an cheaper fare with ordinary taxis. Taxi should not cost more than 25 egyptians.
Hurghada in itself is not excactly a beautiful scenery with its enourmous building activity, but along the beaches it is really nice. City centre is consisting of one main street with a lots of bazars. All of them will try to get you to step into their shop "just to look", but be sure that they all want you to buy something. When discussing price, the correct price should be around half of what they offer you in the first place.
All in all Hurghada and Grand Seas Resort delivers a good vacation in early december."

Great vacations in a great hotel
"We stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks, and it was great. When you first see the outdoor of hotel you think "hmh, this doesn`t look convincing", but from the moment you enter it you found yourself in a dream land. All the working staff are nice, from the receptionist, waiters to the cleaning personel. You can chit chat with them, and they allways make you laugh.
The rooms are big and clean, they are daily cleaned. All rooms have AC, sat TV, phone, mini bar, shower (hair dryer included in bathroom), and huge beds :) You can found some guidence on the table, to tech you how to spend your first hours here (some Egypt facts, food, money, what to see...), really good thing to read if don`t know what to do first. And there is allways hot water in the bathroom.
The food is good and varies from European (pasta, potatoe, chicken, beef....) and Asian (rice, sea food...) A lot of salads and little breakfast breads (really good ones :)). The only thing that was strange to us, was to buy water (1â¬), becouse it is not drinkable from the pipes. (-U can go to the city with the hotel "shuttle" for free and buy water there for about 0,15 â¬).
Now we came to the pool, and it is freezing cold, we don`t realy know why, but maximum 18 C was not our best choice.
So we headed to sea, and if you like snorkeling (chicken diving), you will love Red sea. So many fishes in beautifull colors and shapes, from big ones to tiny ones (like Nemo from cartoon), coral reefs. We were blown away from all the sea life here and the sea is sharp clean in turkise colour.
You can book your trip to Cairo, Luxor, safari... in the hotel with different agencies, so check them all out and find the cheapest.
If you go to the city, don`t go to the first store, take your time, look arround (the sellers are quite annoying) and when you decide to buy something start to bargain. (at least set 1/3 of a price that the seller wants)
Just enyoy and smile, you are on vacations!!"

Great hotel by the sea
"Great hotel, about 10min drive from the center of Hurghada (the bus costs 0,5 EUR - very cheap). Really good location - directly by the sea, out of the city crowd. The hotel and rooms are very clean - every day a man was polishing the floors, but if you want your room made every day - you have to tip the personnel (1EUR would be enough). You have to tip them also at dinner and lunch - if you won't - they wouldn't serve you next time. But it's like that everywhere in Egypt! Noone does anything if no tip is left! The food was tasty. The only thing I didn't like - that the pool wasn't heated, but you could swim in the sea - the water was really warm. There were plenty of sun beds by the pool and on the beach - and all for free. The personnel was really nice and helpful, very polite. As the airport is near by, the planes fly above your head, but that is everywhere, because the airport is only 15km away. I think this was one of the best hotels in Hurghada (and I saw many), maybe - Intercontinental was also a good one."

Good value for the price
"We stayed at the hotel for 14 days. Our room was spacious and very clean. Both the breakfast and the dinner self service bar provided lots of different European and Egyptian food, so we could choose different food every day.
The staff was very kind and made us feel welcome.
Despite the on site diving center we decided to dive at the Colona Divers at the Magawish resort. They run a free daily pick up service so you needn't worry about transportation.
They were very proffesional and we were very happy with their service.
The centre of the city is 15 min away, you can get a taxi or a minibus in front of the hotel (try to stop one on the road yourself, you will get a better price).
All in all it was a very pleasant and very relaxing holiday and we are definatly going back.
I would recommend it to all who are looking for a quiet holiday."

"Had a week in April and had a really good week. Could easily spend whole week in hotel complex - not sure a trip into Hurghada was worthwhile - the hotel minibus does a daily run to the bazaar area.
Hotel very clean and rooms were very spacious. Staff very friendly and could not have been more helpful.
Very few English visitors at hotel - mainly German. Very quiet and only limited entertainment - considered a real plus as the hotel was quiet at night.
The beach area is good and lots of opportunities for water sports and trips on boats.
Would recommend hotel - not sure about Hurghada - but weather is so good I didnât really want to do much sightseeing!"

"After much searching on the internet, of Hurghada hotels, we were delighted with The Grand Seas.
The hotel was modern, clean and spacious. Our room was huge and attentively cleaned each day. The pool is lovely , although a little cold in Feb. Beach very good. We stayed on a half board basis and didn't plan to eat in the hotel as we thought we would prefer to go into town. We were pleasantly suprised with the buffet dinner and as a result chose to eat there 4/7 nights. Easy to get into Hurgahada which has a good few bars quite low key but good to relax with cheap beer and watch the world go by........We were in Hurghada to kite surf and we thought the best spot was at Colona Watersports. Excellent will definately go back although it is hard to find anywhere to book this hotel in the UK as it is mainly European folk which we liked, no moany English, sorry but I'm sure some of us English will whinge about anything! All in all excellent and a very relaxing break"

The good, the bad and the ugly
"Our stay at the Grand Seas Resort Hostmark combined the best and worst of a vacation. Letâs start with the positives;
--We found that there was a good mix of nationalities which was quite pleasant â lots of Russians, Germans, Italians, Swiss. There was no dominant nationality which was great.
--This is definitely a place to relax for families or couples, not really for young people looking for a lot of action.
--Compact resort â it doesnât take you long to walk anywhere. The pool, beach and main reception/restaurant area are close to each other.
--There is a small shopping strip outside with everything from souvenirs to daily necessities so you donât have to go into Hurghada which is 8km by bus .Watch out for pushy salesmen who turn off a lot of guests, but you can negotiate really hard with them on various items.
There are organized activities for children and adults as well as outings (that you have to pay extra for)
-- The pool is a nice feature of the resort.
--The weather is fabulous and the wind (when it is not too strong) offsets the heat nicely.
--We were pleasantly surprised by the good food (although only one main restaurant). We found out from the residential doctor that the food is extremely clean and guests seldom complain about upset stomachs.
Here are some of the negatives:
-- The hotelâs staff is entirely male ! (we saw one female working at reception during our entire stay).
--The attitude of some of the staff is at times arrogant, condescending and plain rude. The waiters stand around doing nothing and if you make a request that doesnât fall in their area of responsibility, they will be extremely annoyed and will not go out of their way to accommodate you. We felt on more than one occasion that our waiters were fake and could not be trusted.
Here is an example:
We signed up for a barbecue night by the pool. When we got there, a 30 EUR bottle of wine was sitting on our table which we were persuaded to purchase. After our waiter uncorked our bottle, it was quite warm so we ordered an ice bucket from him. After over a 15min wait, I asked another waiter if he could follow up on our request. Then, our original waiter came by our table, grabbed our bottle and stormed off with it. My wife who has worked in the restaurant business was immediately suspicious so she watched him take our bottle too the pool bar where he gave it to his colleague over the bar and put the bottle to his lips (either to take a swig or to spit in it). When our waiter came back with the bottle in the ice bucket, we asked for him for a new one as common etiquette will tell you that you never take an open bottle of wine from the table. He seemed surprised and annoyed at this request (probably because we had trumped him) and he initially refused, but when we threatened to call management, he immediately complied. As we were only two days into our vacation, we thought it best not to confront him or alert the hotel management as we feared reprisal acts from him or his friends on the staff and in the kitchen. This episode really affected us and we tried to avoid him throughout our stay (which was difficult because he worked the main pool bar area).
--The barbecue night was a disaster. It started one hour late, the food was cold , it was dark so you could barely see what was available and entertainment was mediocre. The two singers they had during the dinner were horrendous.
--When we arrived, our room had no view whatsoever so we asked to change as we initially requested a sea view. Instead of showing us alternate rooms, they tried to sell us on upgrading to a suite but after showing us two rooms, we decided that the rooms werenât much better than what we had.
--The rooms are ok but could be cleaner. We interrupted the cleaner once (who was a male) and he was using very dirty and smelly mops to clean our room and the bathroom. There are also quite a few flies in the room.
-- We must have left a baby bottle on the sink for a couple of minutes and before we knew it there was a colony of large ants swarming around in the bathroom.
-- We asked our travel agent for a baby cot before booking the trip. We ended up having to pay $5 a night for a baby cot even though the in-room hotel brochure said they provide them for free! After raising this issue they said they did not have an agreement with our travel agent???????? Whateverâ¦.
--They brought us three baby cots and all were broken. The first one they brought had metal bits sticking out. By the time we got the third we gave up.
-- The hotel has a playroom for kids which was nice but it was almost never cleaned and as a result was quite filthy.
--Try and avoid the residential doctor at all costs unless you are severely ill. A trip to see him will cost you EUR 60 !!!!"

My favorite hotel
"The hotels staff are the friendliest and best
- they make me feel like at home.
The rooms are nice and allways clean.
The beds are big and good.
The beach is beatyful.
The Red Sea is fantastic.
The breakfast is so good.
The food in the restaurant could have been better.
The garden is nice and the whole hotel is calm.
I'm looking forward to come back
- and I still can 'see' the moon, the stars, the sun, the sea, the friendly people."

"Have just returned from a holiday in Grand Seas Resort and wanted to share my experiences.
Rooms were cool, clean and spacious, hotel in general was spotlessly clean and without exception the staff were impeccably polite, helpful and very friendly. The animation team kept kids and us entertained for the full two weeks. Food was varied and plentiful. With regards to other comments about being hasselled by staff and beach traders, it's true they do constantly approach you buy things, but by the end of our holiday, we had become very friendly with a lot of them. In fact, the very people that a lot of holiday makers had problems with, were the same people who made our stay in Hurghada truly unforgettable and we miss them more than the resort. Only took one trip which was reasonably priced to snorkel in the warm clear waters of the red sea, and we all gave this a big thumbs up. (The man who sold us the trip also taught us to count to ten, say our names and ages in Arabic). The resort is isolated and night life is probably too gentle for many holiday makers, but for those who just want to soak up the sun and for families who want to enjoy the wonderful egyptian warmth and friendship this is perfect!"
