Very good hotel

"This hotel is very good, the beach is clean, secluded and there is a quiet area for those who want to read undisturbed by beach salesmen. Sea is clear and there are no waves as it is a bay. There is a great range of meals in the evening, the beach bar is slightly repetitive. The area of the hotel is huge, so it is possible to go for walking inside the hotel. The swimming pool is huge and there is mini golf and plenty to do for kids also. We paid extra for a room near the sea, it was quiet, very clean and spacious. It is best to stay in the hotel and not to go to town in old Hurghada, we had an unpleasant feeling as we were two women. There is a lot of staff in the hotel, and we tipped the cleaning staff because egypt is a poor country and these people work barely for nothing, although they did a very good job. We made a trip to Luxor, very interesting but tiring - 10 hrs in bus. I would really recommend this hotel, it was a really relaxing time and everything worked very well."

"we stayed at he dana beach on 29/12/06 for a week.It really is a lovely hotel.now for the nitty gritty stuff

HOTEL: very clean, well staffed, and impressive grounds.

ROOMS:nice decor, cosy and comfy, free safety deposit box.We did have a problem with our water 1 night but it did get sorted
we were in block 1000 and next to there is a mosque that you can hear noise from arond 5 in the morning,it didnt disturb us too much

WEATHER:warm to hot some days windy and cooler other days ,and cool of an evening .It was their winter when we went and did need a jacket of an evening and maybe first thing to go to breakfast.

FOOD AND DRINK:this was the only part where there is room for improvement, they could do with a little more variety on the english dishes(i"m not fussy)But saying that we were told when we were there that this year they are not taking bookings from russia and are gearing up more for english so i would think they will change the menu.it still wasn't bad food, and in hurghada thereis a hard rock cafe(very nice!) KFC (FAB) if you fancy a change, and in the hotel grounds there is an italian and seafood restaurant(you have to pay alittle extra) that is real good too

OVERALL:really good value for money hotel that i would return to in the summer when the weather is hotter"

Very Good Holiday Made Our Christmas

Brilliant
by

"My Husband and I stayed at this hotel from 22-29 december for a Christmas break.

We have stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels all over the world including Sandals in Cuba, Couples in Jamaica, and Grand Lido Bracos in Jamaica.

This hotel achieves a 5 star status for the grounds, the lobby, the rooms, cleanliness and restaraunt layouts and bars. The food is very typical of Egyptian hotels. There is plenty to choose from and it is presented really nicely. The bar underneath the hotel reception which is set out like a cave was really pretty and a nice place to sit for a drink, if not a bit cold and this time of year, at night.

The staff were very friendly and check in and out went really smoothly. Although we were expected to leave the room at 12 O'clock on check out we were able to pay £15 GBP to keep the room till 4 O'clock which we thought was quite good, compared to prices we have been expected to pay elsewhere to keep the room. This also enabled us to use the All Inclusive meals and drinks until 4 O'clock.

My husband is a keen diver and he dived from the hotel for 3 days of the holiday. He enjoyed the diving and was able to dive with dolphins in the open water on one of his trips, I was of course gutted that I hadn't gone with him on this particular day.

The hotel arraged a huge Gala Party on Christmas Eve which was included in the price of the holiday, unlike other hotels. It was really well organised with shows, and an immense choice of food to suit everyone's tastes, including a Christmas Dinner and around 50 different dessert options. You were able to order bottles of wine for the party, which you had to pay for, but you didn' t need to as there was white, rose, and red wine bottles on the, the Rose was particularly good. The atmosphere at this party was great and really got us into the Christmas spirit.

The room we stayed in was 1002 which was a basic room with a pool view. This was in a handy location for the evening, close to the reception, bars and restaurant and took about 5 minutes to walk to the hotels private beach from here. The room was really nicely layed out with modern fittings, excellent decor and a great bathroom. It was a little bit small but this did not bother us at all for just a week, a family room may have been better for 2 weeks. The walk in shower was great and the bathroom was quite large and very clean. We did not experience any bugs anywhere in this hotel at this time of year. Clean towels were replaced every day and the room kept really clean.

The hotel grounds are really pretty with a fantastic river flowing through the centre of the complex. There are 2 large pools with loads of sunbeds and also a heated pool where the kids seemed to congregate. I also have to say that although there were a lot of children at this hotel, they were exceptionally behaved and we never heard any 'screamers' all week.

The weather was really good for 4 day of our holiday and we could sunbathe until around 4 O'clock. A couple of days it was quite cool and windy. The eveings at this time of year are cool/cold so long sleeved tops or jackets are handy for walking around in.

I had a massage at the health club one day which cost me £40 for what they called a Cleopatra. It included sauna, skin scrub, body and facial massage, steam room and Jacuzzi (which was cold). It was really nice if a bit rushed and £40 was a bit over the top I thought, but I can't compare it to other places as I've never had this kind of thing anywhere elses. My face looked lovely the next day which was a bonus!!

All in all this was a great place to spend Christmas and I would recommend it whole heartedly to anyone. The reception was set out lovely for christmas with trees, lights and snow scenes, which was nice for me (a big kid) and all the other children staying there."

"We stayed here for a week the week before Christmas and had a great time. We've never done an all inclusive holiday before so were a bit aprehensive about exectly what was included. The food was good, particularly the breakfasts - the kids loved the pancake chef! I can imagine the food could get a bit boring if you stay for 2 weeks but there was loads of it and a good variety. Rice and potatoes at every meal and usually chicken and beef.
All drinks including local alcohol was included, all you had to do was help yourself. Big fridges full of bottled water on demand too. The minibar in the room was stocked daily.
You do get hassled to buy trips but once you've said no, they don't bother you again.
The hotel was spotless and the grounds beautiful. There is a lake round the resort with pedal boats if you don't fancy walking."

Dont be afraid...

"Just returned from a week in Hughada, and spent the most of it at the Dana Beach. we booked a holiday from teletext at the Aladdin Beach..(that is a different story, needless to say dont touch it!). After a walk to view it and a brief discussion with a very friendly reception staff we were shown the dining area and the rooms.
I would not say it is a five star hotel in the sense of the opulence you might expect in europe but it is very well run, clean and has all you could want for. The staff are friendly and helpful, the whole hotel is spotless, the grounds are well manicured, the pools are immaculate and the food is plentiful and well prepared.
We had one night in the Aladdin which frankly is one too many.DONT GO THERE!!!

The Dana Beach is quite German/Russian dominated and the evening entertaiment reflects this. However there is no need to be afraid of this hotel. We went for a relaxing time, which is what the Dana offers. There are other relatively good hotels there, the Makadi bay is also a bit special.

I hope this is useful!!!!"

Great Hotel And Staff

"Just returned from a 2 week stay at the LTI Dana Beach Hotel in Hurghada, was dubious before we went as couldnt find much info on the hotel and lots of negative reports but glad to say was suitably impressed. The hotel is opposite a parade of about 50 shops, Ok they are pretty much sell the same souvenirs and fake handbags shoes ect but its handy so you dont have to trawl into town, be prepared for hassle from the shop owners trying to drag you in but thats part and parcel of Egypt!!!

We had a lovely room in block 4000 right near the beach which was great until my partner broke his ankle while we were there but the hotel were great fetching us in the buggy if we wanted to go to reception as its a good 5-10 minute walk, Its a big property approx 950 rooms but the gardens and the grounds are superbly clean with lovely flowers and plants, whatever time of day or night there were always gardeners, cleaners and security on duty, cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel. A lovely lagoon splits the hotel which you can have a row boat or pedalos to get from one end to the other.

There are 2 pools, the main one by reception which can be a bit noisy with the animation team doing activities and constantly blowing their whistle!!!! Or a large pool in the middle of the resort, much more relaxed no activities the only thing is they have the same piped music EVERY DAY which was generally Kenny G or Christmas music on panpipes, annoying at first amusing after a few days!!

Personally we didnt like the beach area it was really really busy with sunbeds packed in, the sea is a kind of lagoon so very safe for children especially as you can walk out quite far upto your knees to a sandbank, it looked quite murky though as the water was only changed with the tide!!! Again activities and lots of touts on the beach for massage, trips ect.

There are 2 main restaurants that are all inclusive buffet style, personally we found the breakfast to be the best meal of the day, the lunch and dinner were supposed to be themed but was hard to differenciate between the 2 all got a bit "samey", there are 3 other restaurants where you get 50% disc off your food bill, the fish restaurant was our favourite but be careful as you pay by weight of the fish, we got caught out on our first visit and paid 70euros(before discount) for a piece of fish!!!

The entertainment is worth a laugh, theres an outdoor ampitheatre and you have to credit the animation team for the effort and enthusiam they put into their shows especially the hours they work.

Accross from the hotel is the Havana Club (owned by the hotel) you get free entrance apart from a Saturday night which is a Foam party, good again for a giggle if anything to see the Russians on the prowl, drinks comparable price to the UK

English were in the minority in the hotel, most clients being Russian and German, but all the staff spoke English and the entertainment was in all languages.

All the staff were friendly and polite and really helpful. If you go out of the hotel have some small notes with you for tipping especially if you visit a public toilet as youll be given toilet paper if you tip!!!! If you dont you wont!!!

All in all we would go back to the hotel and defineatly Hurghada, guarenteed weather, nice hotel and lots to see and do in the area.

"this was a holiday for our 1st wedding anniversary and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel. the staff at the hotel are so friendly and so helpful. the majority of the guests however were russian & german the english guests were a minority but this did not affect us at all as the staff spoke all 3 languages, and also the best friends we made in the hotel were from germany marion and helmut, and there sons daniel and the wonderful florian. the hotel is spotlessly clean and the grounds are well tended. our room was very spacious and the best we have stayed in. the mini fridge was stocked everyday with water & soft drinks. our room was in 3000 block overlooking the lagoon and the beach which was fantastic. the food at the hotel was varied enough so you didn't get bored and there was always plenty to choose from, the restaurant staff are also so helpful if you did want anything that you couldn't see and asked them for it would be brought to you. the 50% restaurants available were also great we ate once at the don camello and for 4 of us with starters, main meal, drinks and desert the meal still only cost us 94 egyptian pounds ( £9.40 )!!!!! the one thing i would advise if you stay at this hotel is do not book trips with your rep or with the beach tout, example the rep wanted £39each for a island snorkelling trip, the beach touts wanted £25 each and just over the road from the hotel is a tour office we paid £8.50 each for the same trip with lunch & a soft drink included. the trip was amazing the fish you see are fab so don't forget to take an underwater camera with you. we also booked a trip to cairo to see the pyramids and the spynx for £31 each, let me tell you though it's a long trip but worth it, we left the hotel at 2a.m after a 6 hour bus journey ( we changed buses twice ) we arrived at cairo a busy day but fab. we went to the cairo museum{ no cameras allowed inside}, then onto a papyrus place, then to lunch, then to the pyramids and you can go inside one you have to pay 20 egyptian pounds £2 we were given plenty of time at the pyramids, then onto the spynx again plenty of time to see and get your photos done we then went to a oil fragrance place then we started our journey back to the hotel ( no bus changes on the way back in fact once in cairo your on the same bus all day with good air con so you can leave your bags on and just take your purse and camera off with you at each stop 100% safe ) we arrived back to the hotel at midnight. the hotel provide late dinners or snacks so even at midnight we could go into the restaurant and get some thing to eat and drink. p.s on this trip we met alison and sanders the best people we could have shared our day with she is a yorkshire lass and he's dutch. love you both made our trip even more memorable.xxx back to the hotel the beach and pool guys are fab they take good care of you. we spent most time on the beach as the breeze was better and we ate lunch at the beach snack bar pizza, chips, salad and everyday a different stir fry or something, walid the beach bar man was great, they love to speak english and love it when you learn and try to speak some egyptian we learned a few phrase and they loved it. you know the truth really is i could write loads and loads but a holiday is an individual thing and every person sees good and bad in things so even if i say its the best someone else will have faults. it's upto you , we really loved our time here and we would definately go back we haven't got young children so the animation didn't bother us we wanted to relax and enjoy some us time which we done here. and also with having a big parade of shops opposite the hotel we didn't have to bother going into hurghada town everything we needed was on site or opposite."

The LTI Dana Beach Hotel Hurghada

"We were a little surprised on arrival as instead of the two rooms we had asked for we were give a family room. It was nice enough and had two bedrooms and luckily my 22 year old daughter didn't object too much as at the end of the day it was only a place to wash, change and sleep. We found the staff were all friendly, cheerful and only too pleased to help anyway they could. The young lads that cleaned the room and topped up the mini bar were very efficient and only to happy to give you more water or soft drinks if requested.
On the whole the food in the La clef (reception) restaurant was quiet good but the Castello restaurant was only luke warm at the best the couple of times we tried it. You got hotter food at the Red Sea Bar on the Beach. If you choose eat at either of the "A La Carte" restaurants, The Camello (Italian) or the Fish restaurant and are on the "All inclusive option" you get a 50% discount off the bill.

The pools the 1st pool was fairly busy the animation team popping up occasionally trying to get you involved with whatever was going on. The 2nd pool was generally more peaceful but the pool seemed a little less clean than the 1st pool but not so dirty as I would feel uncomfortable swimming in it. When we first arrived there were random pieces of marble around this pool that I hadn't noticed and broke my toe on one of them but in the hotels defence they were then all removed by the next morning.
The beach was a little disappointing in so far as the water in it was about as clear as the English Channel it seem the water is trapped in this small bay so not getting fully refreshed with the tide. Though if you take a walk around the edge of the bay to the actual sea you are rewarded with clear water, corals and a variety of fish.

The hotel shops may be more pricey than outside or in the town but I found the shopkeepers were a little less pushy than those outside the hotel and just as willing to barter, so the choice is yours.

Note for the less able.

This hotel is widely spread around so if you have trouble walking any distance I recommend you get a room nearest to where you wish to be i.e.. pool, beach or reception. It is also accessible to those in wheelchairs and although some of the ramps are a little on the steep side I noticed staff were always willing to give a hand if needed.

I would not actually consider the hotel the 5* it was advertised as but in my honest opinion more of a 4* and it was the warmth of the staff that helped make this holiday."

Think twice when you choose Africa

Poor

"We have spent 2 weeks at Dana Beach in July 2006, which is too much, I can say.
The resort is very beautiful to look - nice pools.
Entertainment - OK, nothink special
The all-inclusive service was quite good - the food is excellent but there is no diversity to drinks- only 1 sort of beer&wine
The staff work hard and keep everywhere immaculate.
Things that gives to Dana Beach minus are:
An awful beach and the water with spots of oil
Staff – a lot were very helpful (especially from the bar) but other just rude
The evening entertainment shows- bad taste and quality.
The room I have to say was small – a standard room but was kept very clean and had a nice sized balcony.
Unfortunately, when we fly back we call the ambulance directly to the airport in Romania: my friend has pneumonia- that was the end of her “honey moon”. Then the same pneumonia started to me- a powerful virus collected most likely from air conditioning from Dana Beach
So, we definitely don’t like to remember Hurghada.
I was very happy when I return home- so think twice when you choose Africa as your holiday destination- it’s not what you think - the people from Africa do not like Europeans"

"My family & I stayed at the Dana Beach Hotel in Aug 06. We had a fantastic time there. The hotel is very big & beautiful. It was kept very clean by the numerous staff & was managed very well. The rooms were very clean & spacious. The restaurants offered a large variety of dishes to suits all requirements. My kids loved the fresh omelettes, croissants & crepes each morning. The food & beverages on the beach was excellent too – fresh pizzas, chips & pasta & an endless supply of drinks! The staff in all the restaurants, bars & the beach were very friendly. The only negative thing I have to say is that the entertainment is limited considering the size of the hotel. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to my friends & family."

"We spent 28 days at Dana Beach over the new year. this hotel is spotlessly clean every where, the rooms are kept so clean by the room boys. the gardens and beach are always clean. the food is brilliant even on our 4th week we were still able to find new things to eat. the staff are so very good they cant do enough for you so nice to be waited on hand and foot by staff that always have a smile on their faces even though they work very hard for long hours. we are returning to Dana Beach again later in the year, we don't normally return anywhere as we like to try new places but it is so nice and relaxing here and the food is of a very high standard weather great."

"My husband and I were extremely pleasantly surprised at the facilities at the Dana Beach hotel. They catered for all ages and the choice of food was excellent. We have only just tried all inclusive but will certainly do it again, the staff were so obliging and attentive and you didn't even have to queue to get your drinks. The standard of cleanliness was so good and a problem with the lights was fixed quickly. I cannot fault the staff or the hotel at all and the close proximity to the beach was great.
Thank you everyone!"
