Take no notice
"To anyone thinking of visiting the Aladdin, take no notice of the negative reviews, yes there are plenty of Germans and Russians but I experienced no problems with them. The rooms are a little basic but cleaned every day by the very hard working Egyptian cleaners, who obviously appreciate a tip here and there. It won't break the bank as there is only one pound sterling to ten Egyptian. You will see cleaners, gardeners and other staff constantly going round the hotel making it a better place to be, they are very hard working and if you treat them with a little respect the people are really friendly. The food was plentiful, varied and hot, food was constantly being replenished as the tureens emptied. If you go hungry at the hotel you must be a really fussy eater. We had no problems with stomach bugs although we didn't drink the water, only the bottled that is in your room fridge, which is again filled every day. The food at both pool and beach bar is good and the staff friendly. A tip for the beach bar is as they start serving food at 12.30, get a seat before twelve and have a drink. Some people may gripe about paying for the ice cream on an all inclusive, however it is only 60p for a cone. All in all a great hotel and holiday no complaints, it's what you make of it, great pools, beach and weather."

What Are They Talking About? - Can't Wait to Go Back
"My friend and I have just returned from a week at the Aladdin and enjoyed EVERY minute of it. I must admit after reading some of the reviews prior to our trip, we were both very apprehensive as to what we would find when we got there. How glad are we that we went!! The apartments are large and spotlessly clean with either balcony or terrace which overlook the beach, pool or very attractive gardens. These are all equally lovely views in their own right. Every room has TV and a fridge where bottled water is replaced every day. We were also pleased to find that towels AND bedding were changed daily. There are many options of 'watering holes' - the pool and beach bars (both of which serve food) - the lounge bar with their 4 o'clock T & cakes and adjacent quiet comfy seating area - Abu's bar and the disco/show bar. (Abu's,in our opinion, was the best!) Plus, the neighbouring Jasmin and Ali Baba hotels are also great alternative venues. Every member of staff from receptionists to housekeepers, waiters/bar staff to gardeners were ALL extremely polite and friendly. We found, as indicated by other reviewers, that the occasional 10-20 Egyptian pounds tip (1-2 pounds sterling) goes a very long way. It may not a great amount to us but its a great deal to the staff there and their appreciation is returned 10 fold! Ok, the food may not be to the Savoy standard but you would have to be EXTREAMLY faddy to not find something nice to eat. And yeh, ok, there ARE lots of Russian and German holidaymakers there. It has to be said, that in the main, they DO appear quite rude and grumpy but as they didn't interact much with us we didn't find them a problem! Infact,to be honest, they barely acknowledge each other really so I cant see why people have thought them a need for concern! My friend and I have realised that its NOT that they are horrible people really - its just the way they are - so who are we to judge?? Do try the snorkeling boat trip its brill. Gifton Island (I think that how its spelt) is absolutely beautiful with its white sand and turquoise sea and the snorkeling itself is fab. Even if you don't swim etc, the day trip is well worth doing. All in all I know Ive gone on a bit about the Aladdin but we found it to be a very good 3*+ hotel. These guys that have given negative reviews must have just been either very unfortunate or extremely picky.(Sorry peeps - don't mean to offend - but we couldn't fault the Aladdin!)My opinion....GET ON THE NEXT PLANE AND GO THERE !!!!"

not as expected
"My husband and I have just returned from this resort, to find it not as we expected. Went to Luxor in January and far better service there.
We were told the building work would be finished, but it wasn't. New things being opened as we left.
The hotel is not far from airport, so if you have no transfer, when you get a taxi, dont pay anymore than £10 (100 egyptian)
You will see the planes going over throughout the day up until 12ish at night.
This is not a couples only place.
There were lots of Germans and Russians, think the Hotel is German owned.
The pool bar and beach bars are the best for food. The self service restaraunt is awful, cold and very tasteless. DONT TIP HERE AS YOU WILL NOT GET ANY BETTER SERVICE!!!! but tip in pool and beach bar and lobby.
We stayed in the bungalows, lovely and spacious, cleaned daily,no problem with showers all holiday. Need to keep key fob in to keep fridge on while not in your room.
The report said this was an ideal place for snorkelling, but the beach was rocky trying to get into the water and very choppy. So need to do boat trip, to appreciate the lovely fish.
We did the Pyramids via a plane trip, well worth the money.
Recommend the massage too.
Just hope things get better for next lot of holiday makers!!!!

Aladdin Beach Resort
"Returned last night after 2 weeks at Aladdin. Read reports before we went & were quite concerned about some things but not as bad as some people make out. The bungalows are basic, (no hairdriers, but available from reception at no extra cost) no tea/coffee making facilities, some people took there own. Bottles of water left in fridge every day. Clean sheets & towels daily. Nice flower/towel arrangement made on my bed with Mothers day cards I took with me, nice touch.
Pool areas very good, cleaned & filters checked frequently, floors swept & mopped frequantly, plenty of sun beds & mattresses, beach towels provided.
Service at pool snack bar very good, not too bad at beach bar, basic but nice food served at both, mainly hamburgers & Hot dogs but nicely presented & hot.
Lobby bar staff very good if you give a small tip. Main restaurant different matter. Service very poor, food only luke warm, quite good selection, Breakfast best, omelettes to order. Tipped waiter after a couple of daysbut service did not improve, if you ask for something its always "one minute", then you have to wait & hope - last night there we were very surprised to find drinks bought to our table without being ordered! If only they had given the service every night that they give on your last! Obviously we did not tip then - it was too much, too late. Restuarant in Ali Baba is very different, service with a smile, even before you tip! Considering this hotel is sister to Aladdin it is hard to believe that there can be such a difference.
Facilities of three hotels can be used so there is plenty of scope, have a good look around the first couple of days. Recommend snorkelling trip from Dolphin next door, wonderful day out. Also massage at Ali Baba very good. Work going on building new health club but with very little disturbance to guests - looks very good - due to open at Easter.
Snorkelling from beach not as good as Sharm, no drop-off off beach. Agree price with taxi drivers, 50 pounds to town (about £5) lots of hassle in town but to be expected in Egypt. Overall would recommend hotel to families, certainly not a quiet hotel, be prepared to tip before you get good service, not what we expect in other countries where you tip if you get good service. Would rate at 3 star, certainly no more. Jan & Gerry, Redditch"

"Have just returned from Aladin Beach resort, after reading reports my friend and I were quite worried about going, I think you cannot satisfy all the people all of the time, we had the best holiday we have ever had, the staff were really friendly, and helpful, a tip here and there goes along way, which definately does not break the bank, 1 pound english.
The food was excellent, service good, staff were very friendly and helpful, I feel all the people who have written these bad reviews could not have been at the same hotel as us, or perhaps there is no satisfying some people., If they wanted 5 star they should pay for it, as the holiday was very cheap and worth every penny,.
There are alot of Russian and Germans but we did not have any problem with them.
We cannot wait to re book our next holiday there, in fact we did not want to come back"

"Just come back from a week in the Aladdin hotel. This is not a bad hotel as many reviews imply. It is clean (our room was cleaned and sheets changed every day) and the food is ok, just don't expect it hot. To get good service you do need to tip a couple of pounds, we tipped a waiter called Ragab about 3 English pounds and for the rest of the week he couldn't do enough for us.
The beach is man-made with sand and sharp stones but the Jasmine beach is better. There is not much to do in the evenings in this hotel, only a disco and Abu's Bar.
Hurgahada town is a taxi ride away. Make sure you agree the fare first! You will get a lot of hassle from the shopkeepers and always haggle over the price.
A word of warning, Hurghada is a resort dominated by Russians who we found to be loud and rude.
Finally, alot of people seem to expect genuine 4/5* luxury for 2/3* prices. The aladdin is probably a good 3* hotel.
We would go back to Egypt again but not Hurghada."

"Just returned from a weeks holiday with my daughter with mixed feelings of this Hotel.
The complex is well maintained, our room though basic was spotless, fresh sheets towels daily. beware of the insecticide spraying done twice daily if you have the air-con on it will flood your room with fumes.
The pool and beach facillities are great. Hotel lobby bar and pub bar are very pleasant, but the restaurant was not brilliant. Tip 10 egypt pounds on your first visit and you will be well looked after, if not you will be ignored. The food was luke warm and repetative. Presentation was better than taste!
I agree with fellow visitors that English are the minority visitors, Russian and German are the main stayers, and appear to demand more attention than us Brits. The Russians being particularily arrogant and extremely noisy. Our Russian neighbours gave us a daily alarm call at 5-30am of contimuous shouting and balling.
Several guests we met had experienced the "HOLIDAY TUMMY" we were quite poorly for the last couple of days, pack the old Immodium.
Best meals in the Beach and Pool bars.
The majority of staff where friendly helpful and courteous. Our Room cleaner was lovely, we tipped him well and he went out of his way for us.
The Massage we had next door at the Ali Baba was FANTASTIC, dont leave without one.
Taxis were certainly an experence beware be very aware!! especially if going into Hurghada town. If staying in thr rooms that have the large Glass PatioDoors make sure you close them gently, as they are not toughened glass and brake easily. The Hotel will not accept liability if you slice your leg open like a fellow guest did!
Overall the Complex is 4* but the Foodis in my opinion 2* and a little risky."

"We have just got back from a week's stay at the Aladdin Beach, and had a great time. The food was just fine, although lunch times if you ate at the pool or the beach bar was always the same, you could eat in the restaurant again. You can use the bars and restaurants in the Jasmine or the Ali Baba on each side of the Aladdin if you want too. The staff were lovely and made quite a fuss of us. Our daughter had the waiters playing magic tricks for her at dinner, and giving her balloons to take with her. On Valentine's Day, they really made an effort and dressed the lobby and restaurant with hearts and cupids - even in the pool loos! We were very happy with everything, so why some people felt they had to complain, I can't imagine! Everywhere was constantly cleaned and well looked after. We could recommend the hotel to others with no problem. However, if you expect 5 star facilities, as some other reviewers obviously did, then book a 5 star hotel. We had a lovely time."

Not half as bad as most of the reviews made it out to be.
"Me and my partner have just returned from the aladdin, and after reading the reviews before we went I was very dubious and cannot say I was looking forward to it. However we were both pleasantly surprised. Although definately not a 4*, the food was good, the service was good (some tips required) these certainly do not break the bank and are greatly appreciated.
There are loads of Russians and some of them are very rude, but this doesn't apply to them all.
The waiters are sometimes a bit funny about serving a man if his partner hasnt finished her drink, but just go to the bar yourself.
While we were there, there was some building work going on, and we were in a garden bungalow probably the closest to the building work as possible, but it certainly didnt bother us one bit and we are actually looking at going back in April if the price is right.
Don't let the bad reports put you off."

"Where did these people stay? Certainly not the same place as us! WE went to Aladdin in November 2005 as a 40th Birthday present. The room(overlooking the pool) was lovely, clean, airy and comfortable.Shower was a bit poor but we managed. The staff were fantastic and could not help you enough! As soon as you sat down by the pool, someone would be along to give you a mattress, beach towels were available on the beach too.The food was fine, I can only presume that the people who have slated this hotel are the sort that expect 5 star but pay for 4 star, and i suspect that they would complain whatever/wherever they were!Yes, there were a lot of Russians and Germans, but we found them all friendly and had no problem socialising with them all.The beach was gorgeous, my partner was windsurfing all week and the staff at the club were so attentive and helpful he thoroughly enjoyed himself1 Basically we loved it and are going back next November with my elderly mother, daughter, son and other friends who we have highly recommended this too! WE will definately go back!"

"I highly recommend this hotel (or rather complex of 3 hotels). The room was clean and comfortable, with fridge and safe. The public areas were also clean, the staff welcoming and friendly. Not many other British tourists - but my partner managed to talk football with Germans, Russians and staff :)! The food was plentiful and tasty, if not memorable (apart from some lovely mini-burgers at the beach bar, and the soup..). We enjoyed having access to the facilities of the two other hotels (the Jasmine Village and Ali Baba Palace)- particularly walking along the beach to one or other after dinner, and having a drink. We definitely plan to return to Hurghada (this was our first visit) and to the Aladdin Beach (or the Jasmine or Ali Baba). I think that the complex has something for everybody. "

"At times I wonder what it is about Brit travellers that they belly ache if chips are not on tap 24/7.We were a group of four and all of us can't praise the whole standard of the hotel highly enough. Rooms are spacious extremely clean with plenty of hanging space ,coathangers included!!! and were cleaned every day .
Food was superb with a great choice from morning till night Each day there were at least two choices of meat and a fish course ,fresh fruit in abundance ranging from pomergranite to juicy dates, desserts to die for with at least eight choices. The beach bar provided small snacks such as chicken kebab,100%meat burgers ,chips and a sslad bar at lunch time.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and given the low wages they are on giving a tip as a gesture of appreciation was always useful. One word regarding tips don't give coins as they have great difficulty getting them changed in paper money(banks do not accept coins) better would be one dollar bills.
As for airport transport to and from the hotel don't book your transfer with your tour operator as ours wanted £17.00 a head and we got there for £10.00 both ways for 4 through med hotels which is situated near the wooden booth about 50mts outside the airport.
Would we go back? We certainly will possibly in March.
