"We visited the Sheraton Miramar at El Gouna for one week in December just before Christmas. We wanted sun, sea and peace. This hotel definately provided all of this. The rooms are very spacious, all with a view of some kind. We had a lagoon view and could walk out of our room straight on to a sun lounger by the waters edge. The lagoons were brilliant for swimming, not too deep. The swimming pool was also excellent, heated like bath water, with excellent water arobics in the morning. After that it was pure peace and quite. At night in our room it was so quiet, it was only the birds and the sun rising that woke us up. The breakfasts were very good. All of the staff were just so friendly and very attentive from the pool staff, beach staff, reception and waiters. There is a shuttle bus into El Gouna and the Marina every 15 minutes, and only cost £1 for a weekly ticket, running until the early hours of the morning. The restaurants in the marina are brilliant and very cheap, around £12 for 2 course and drinks. If you tip, they will be very friendly if you go back again, and the setting at the marina is very pretty. We had a brilliant, restful, holiday and would definately go back again."

Good but not great
"We have also stayed at the Hyatt in Taba and the Interconti in Hurghada so are well used to Egyption so called 5 stars. This is the best i have encountered so far. The grounds/lagoon layout is lovely. The rooms are basic but comfy. Typical buffet breakfast, but with slightly better service. The Marina is lovely - no hassle from shopkeepers etc very diff from rest of Egypt! Hated Captains Inn. Had a great meal in Le Dauville. Steigenberger is great for lunch. Miramar v poor for lunch options. Pool area crowded and service slow. However overall had a great holiday and would return."

FANTASTIC...so good we have just booked...
"FANTASTIC...so good we have just booked today to go back, if you want lovely clean hotel, great selections for breakfast and was told the lunch and evening meals were good try the Sheraton....we had a wonderful large room...king size bed bath and shower towels for the room and by the pool, lovely pool area plenty of beds. No hassling when you went out like we have had in other parts of Egypt!!!
eating out great choice downtown or at the Abu Tig Marina...Friday night party night at the marina worth a bus ride which costs a pound for the week per person or a tok tok at 50p per person per trip but most enjoyable you can also hire them for a trip round El Gouna for around£7.br />
In all a GREAT holiday and can not wait to go back in may to do some snorkelling...we got the bug now talking of bugs....no jippy tummy during our stay!
