Mirage Village Hotel

Loveable place and staff, perfect to relax
"Definitely a place you can stay longer. We went there on advise of friends which live part-time in dahab and stood a month.
You can credit it to the staff that We started feeling like natives after a few weeks (we stayed for 4 weeks). The morning started usually with a smile at the breakfast from the waiters Said and Naim. Through the day all the guys working there were very helpful and friendly and quite often we spend the evening in the beduin corner with another very nice waiter. Because of the sun most of the time they are almost always good-mooded.
Be aware that Dahab is a paradise for divers AND surfers, because you have nice diving places and sometimes wind for the surfers. But this is usually not a problem because you can always go to the wind sheltered beaches e.g. at the lighthouse. And believe me, after a totally windstill sunny day you will wish there is some wind. With some wind you don't feel the heat so much.
The staff was extremely helpful and whenever we needed something they helped us. Sometimes we were surprised like getting sunbeds for our terrace when we were sunbathing on the terrace on bath towels.
The room was nice and for the price we more than happy, it's very cheap for all those conveniences. Good protection against those few mosquitos (protected windows and light in front), we had a fridge in the room, free internet, climatization, fresh juices (not for free) anytime. But do not except luxury appartements for that price.
We also liked the other guests, mostly quite relaxed people and often there is a good atmosphere between the guests. Often young people and you get quickly nice contacts. When we once had some stomach problems (go for the better restaurants in dahab or the mirage village restaurant to avoid this trouble) some other guests helped us out with advise which medicine to buy in the near pharmacy.
The hotel is placed nicely and everything is near like good restaurants (we ate excellent in the food urge and also in the eel garden), diving places (........), nice beaches like at the lighthouse, eel garden and food urge, the touristic center (lighthouse) and the asala market.
And if you patiently read up to here, you get a hint for free:
Omda the taxi Driver... Nicest taxi driver we found in dahab, the only one to answer "no, that is too much" while most others try to cheat you. Totally loveable guy with nice stories about his family and dahab in "not perfect" english. Whenever we called him he was usually there on time. His number: 0108561292"

a wonderful place to stay.....
"Mirage village, perfectly located near the beach in Dahab City, is a wonderful place to stay, to relax; to meet people; to dive and to enjoy a personal, heartful service and good food. The rooms are nicely arranged, clean and you have all facilities you need for your holiday."

Would have stayed forever!
"This is the place that you literally will never want to leave. Even for lunch in some other place. Mirage Village is an island of tranquility and relaxation. The rooms are cozy and clean, the hot water is plenty. The tent lounge area with free Wi-Fi is a nice place to have breakfast lying on cushions with your laptop, and in the evening it is a meeting place for chart and good laugh, enjoying shisha and tea. The stuff members are really helpful and very friendly. I would also mention the spacious yoga room that they have on a roof-top which you can use for free or together with a teacher, who is coming three times a week. I loved the place very much and can recommend it to anyone! It is a hidden pearl of Dahab and is 5 min work from Lighthouse area, which makes all the restaurants accessible, and on the other hand, it is a bit far from all the hassle of the town center and when you get to sleep it is very quite.
Mirage Village has a very good and professionally-run dive-center right on its premises, and it was very convenient for me as a diver. Just think that for early dives you could sleep half an hour longer than customers coming from other hotels!"

a place to stay ... hmm ... nearly forever ;o)
"Well ... are you looking for pure luxury, for really professional staff, for a holiday which promisses just to relax and keeps away discussions with different people etc.?
Well ... then you are not right at Mirage Village, that's for sure!
Mirage is not pure luxury, it's not beeing treated like a king who has lots of servants, it's not spending your time without getting in contact with different minds!
Mirage is much more! Mirage is a home, it's familiar, it's staying with friends, it's getting to know Sinai and Dahab. It's a place which you miss when you are back home!
In detail: the rooms are really ok, they are clean, there is ac, you have your own bathroom with a toilette, in some you have a fridge ... but they are not too big ;o). the food you can have at the restaurant is really good and cheap. you can have your shishas and tea (and food) at a very cosy "beduine" corner. and there is the divecenter as well, which is really to recomment as well! (if you have other needs - massage, travelagency, pharmacy etc. - everything can be arranged for you)
So, if you wan't to spend a lovely, relaxing holiday you are completely right at that place!"

"This was the third time i have visited Mirage Village and it just keeps getting better. The staff were very friendly/helpful,and the food was great. As for mosquitoes, i've never had a problem, but be realistic,if you travel to this type of destination you must be prepared to encounter flies and mosquitoes. If you are looking for a great diving experience or just a place to chill out this is a fantastic location. Take a trip into the desert at night just to see the stars, its breathtaking. The place is now really popular, as the diving sites are out-of-this-world,so my advise to to book a trip to Mirage Village, its clean and good value for money, and the staff will help and advise you on the best places to visit in the area. All the staff speak good english and the Austria guy called Roland is very experienced. He will keep you right on all the best deals."

"We had a week's diving holiday at Mirage Village. The place is very comfortable and homely. They are very welcoming and nothing is to small. We really enjoyed sitting in the bedouin tent at night, drinking local tea and talking with the local people. Highly recommended............."

NOT mosquito free..
"Me and my husband stayed for 8 nights. Staff OK in general, welcomed us but got the impression from a few of the younger members that they thought I was 'available' even though they knew we were married. They tried to flirt with me and catch my eye behind my husbands back which was very insulting to us both. I didn't give them a moments notice and deliberately ignored their continued attempts to get a flirt off me which grew more and more desperate until one of them almost cried in a little boy tantrum! Really unacceptable behaviour but it's par for the course in Egypt and amusingly pathetic at the end of the day. Reviews and hotel website said it was 'mosquito free due to it's windy position at the north of the bay'. Not true! We kept the fly screen on all the time and didn't leave the doors open and still spent every evening chasing mosquitos round the room, waking up with bites etc., spoke to other guests and they said they had mosquitos too so don't know how they can make those claims... The wind was always blowing but it made little difference to mosquito numbers. Misleading information as I picked this place specifically for it's 'no mosquito' claims when we could have stayed somewhere else for half the price. The fish wasn't fresh the evening I had it.. it had a tangy taste and dry flesh but we were starving and exhausted after a 9 hour bus journey from Cairo so what can you do.. Flies land all over your food unless you take it in turns to wave them away while your partner eats etc. and the only effort the hotel has made to keep flies away is a fan in the corner that has little effect. The Mirage Village is quiet as it's away from the main strip but there are cheaper and nicer places's to stay in Dahab."
