Great appartment & diving
"I stayed in this appartment with my parents & sister for a week of diving and it was great.
Best thing about the appartment is the roof terrace with view of the mountains around Dahab. We had breakfast there every morning, a great start of the day! Also easy to dry your swimming suit.
Further, the appartment is clean, nicely & comfortably decorated and with a filled fridge & information about the suroundings. The aircon (on the top floor) was very welcome.
The appartment is located just outside the touristy area - there are shops & restaurants close by, but to the beginning of the touristy 'lighthouse' area it is 15 mins walk (or a cheap taxi ride).
Most of all I would recommend the diving with the owner, Tim. I felt really safe diving with him; we took a health-check before even starting and he brought necesssary safety equipment to every dive-site. He was focussed on protecting the reef, point ed to the special sea-life during the dive and told us all about it afterwards. Also clear instructions and a lot of fun."

5 stars at the Sea Stars
"First impressions were that the property was very clean, modern, well laid out and more than adequate for our purposes. The apartments are situated in an interesting district of Dahab that affords an insight into the Bedouin way of life.
Our hosts Tim & Sian provided a warm welcome and a very good briefing of the facilities available in the property and the attractions of the surrounding area.
Sian is an interior designer and her expertise is apparent once you're inside the apartments. Housekeeping was of an excellent standard and she was always contactable by phone or text in case of unforeseen problems.
Tim is a professional diver and can put together a dive package to suit any level of expertise. He has an in depth knowledge of the diving sites in the Gulf of Aqaba (and beyond) as well as snorkelling areas that are pristine. He never pushed his diving packages at us, preferring the lead to come from us. He is also an enthusiast on the stars at night and can guide one around the constellations if so desired.
There was a super welcome pack of food & drink that helped us ease into our holiday after our long journey. Local shops (within easy walking distance - 5 mins) carry all the essentials for self-catering but apart from breakfast we ate out in one of the numerous restaurants in Dahab. There' even an 'off-licence ' (Drinkies) within 200 metres of the apartment.
The groundsman, Abul as our link between the owners and ourselves started us off every day with a happy smile and a sincere greeting.
All in all the holiday was fantastic & we would recommend anyone to stay here."

Best holiday ever...
"A colleague recommended Sea Star Apartments after staying there at the beginning of the year. It sounded amazing - a nice apartment, friendly owners, good area, and offered PADI diving courses. It sounded too good to miss!
Tim and Sian (the owners) arranged our transfers and we were met by the taxi man at the airport without any problems, despite our flight being delayed. Even though it was gone 10pm, Tim and Abdul (the garden keeper) met us at the apartments. They were welcoming and friendly. The photos already on Trip Advisor does the apartment no justice, they are better in person. I was surprised that there was so much space and beautifully presented. The food hamper in the fridge (complete with fruit juice, cheese, and beer) was very much appreciated.
Weâd arranged to do our PADI diving courses through Tim (originally weâd arranged to just do our Open water course but loved it so much we went on to do our Advanced course as well as 6 âfun divesâ!!). Tim was completing someone elseâs course that was staying at the apartments so our instructor was one of his close friends, Neil. It was just myself and my partner in the group which was perfect as we could take our time. Tim and Neil are both fish nuts! Their knowledge about diving, the ocean, the reef is overwhelming, and both are very environmentally conscious regarding the reef and fish. There are many dive sights available â I would definitely recommend The Eel Gardens, The blue hole, and doing a boat diving day trip.
The area that the apartments are in are ideal. Situation just 10mins walk from the main tourist area, or a 2 min taxi, and just round the corner are a few shops where you can food items. Goats and Camels line the streets and although initially a bit shocking, you do get used to the rubbish floating along some of the streets!!
It turned out our holiday had the potential to be a holiday from hell - delayed flights, fraudulent activity on my partners debit card, and the enormous amount of stress caused by our flights being cancelled by XL. But, I can honestly say this was the best holiday ever!! I would recommend this to anyone (in fact have already started with friends and colleagues at work), and hope to return in the future.
Peace to the reef, as Tim would say."

Amazing in every way
"Sea Stars Apartment - and its owners Tim and Sian - go down as my most successful internet-travel-research find yet. Seven of us rented two of their apartments for a week, and I can honestly say it's one of the best holidays I've ever had.
We arrived in Sharm El Sheik after a horrendous night spent sleeping on the floor of Cairo airport. We'd missed our flight because out connecting domestic flight was delayed, and learnt the hard way that airlines have no obligation to put you up in a hotel unless it's an international flight - be warned!
Sian was incredibly patient as I called several times to explain the situation - that we'd be arriving the next morning and would need to be picked up then.
The bedouin driver was there waiting when we flew in and after a 45 minute drive, we arrived bleary-eyed at Sea Stars in Dahab. Tim and his messy salty hair were there to greet us and show us around, along with a group of 'garbage goats' who wander the streets eating - you guessed it!. Check them out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/2190771930/in/set-72157603709070838/.
We were starving and tired after our Cairo airport nightmare and it was wonderful to arrive to a fridge and pantry stocked with eggs, bread, milk, butter and coffee,so we could eat without having to go shopping.
Believe it or not, the apartments are better than they are in the pictures. Modern and spotlessly clean with a really fun vibe, surrounded by lovely, colourful gardens and just a short walk from the beach and famous 'Eel Garden' dive spot.
The rooftop 'shisha lounge' (this is it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/2189956917/in/set-72157603709070838/) was a fantastic surprise with its comfy cushions and fabulous view of the mountains and pet camel next door.
Apart from being our 'landlord', Tim, a self-professed 'fish nut' (and absolute legend), was also our diving instructor, and trained four of us to get our PADI Open Water Certificate over the week.
If you've done research into diving in Dahab, you've probably discovered that its diving schools don't have the best reputation for safety. Well, you can feel 100% safe with Tim.
He'd told me over email to get a medical done before arriving but I'd developed a chest infection in Luxor so he recommended that we all go for a medical check up before getting in the water.
Devastatingly, I didn't pass the test and couldn't dive but at least I was safe and not risking 'reverse blocks' and other nasty dive-related conditions.
Four from our group of seven ended up getting their certificates under Tim and Matt's expert tutelage. They explored the amazing dive sites in and around Dahab and are now all confident divers.
We all had a fantastic week. Honestly, I can't recommend Sea Stars Apartments and Tim's diving instruction highly enough. If you're looking for cheap, modern, spacious, comfortable accommodation, recommendations from a local, and diving instruction from someone you can trust, look no further.

Fantastic, Amazing and Brilliant
"I spotted an ad for Sea Stars on a UK Diving Forum and spoke to the owner directly. Him and his partner were fantastic at every step of the way. Any questions were answered fantastically.
The apartments are fantastic. Good location very close to the main promenade and even closer to Eel Gardens, but still a little bit removed from the hustle and bustle in the evenings, making them ideal fro relaxing if you want a quiet night (especially with a drink or two whilst lying in a hammock on the roof)
I also arranged diving through the owner and did my PADI AOW, with another perosn doing part of their AOW, someone else doing their OW and 3 others doing Intro Dives. It was all fantastically arranged for diving with TIm and one of his friends Neil (also an instructor). The sheer amount of knowledge they have is overwhelming.
I'm definitely going back again, as soon as I can afford another holiday from work.
A*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* all the way.
Peace to the reef."

Awesome holiday apartment
"We were a group of four who recently stayed at the apartment. We only intended to stay in dahab for one week but it was so nice we stayed a couple of days more.
We were picked up and welcomed by Sian (co-owner with Tim) who was really nice and welcomed us to our lovely apartment. They had very kindly stocked up the fridge and cupboards with some lovely treats and drinks.
The apartment was everything we'd hoped for and more. It was very clean, spacious comfortable and excellent value. (really good air con system too). By far the best bit was the bedouin style roof terrace with hammock and lovely cussions laid out around palm tree logs. We spent most of our time up on this terrace where you could get amazing views of the sea, dahab village, and mountain range. We even enjoyed a evening barbecue up there one night.
If you are visiting Dahab for some diving then you should really seriously consider diving with Tim. He is co-owner of the apartments but his career is as a diving instructor. We did our PADI open water course with him and also a day of fun diving upon completing the course. Tim has a wealth of diving experience and is extremely passionate about his job and very environmentaly consious regarding the coral reefs etc. Tim was very flexible regarding our pace through the course and was very professional yet friendly and great company. ( watch out for beer fines for incorrect setting up of equipment!)
All in all, Sian and Tim made our holiday really enjoyable and really helped us feel relaxed and comfortable which was greatly appreciated as the culture and lifestyle out there can take some adjusting to.
We would definelty return there again if given the chance."

looking for a home away from home: Sea Stars is your place!
"we stayed at sea stars just a week ago and i miss it! read the previous reviews and all is true. a very welcome surprise is the fact that the place is just like you expect it to be from the pictures on the website, and more. nice, clean, spacious, two big bedrooms with enormous beds, airy, tastefull, complete and so on. we kinda forgot about the welcoming package in the fridge, so it was a very nice surprise to find some bread, milk, eggs, juice, and beers!!, in the fridge, along with small handy items like some butter, salt/pepper and sugar for you coffee! really gets you to feel at home from the first minute, especially since we also arrived late at night, but now were able to make us a nice sandwich to still our midnight hungry stomachs after travelling all day. Tim is an amazing person, taking care of the place and it's inhabitans like a true british gentleman. there's some handy information on dahab available in the appartment. and i shouldn't forget the wonderful nice warm shower!! for us the fact that it's situated in the more quiet area of the bedouin town was a big plus. you're just minutes away from all the touristy hustle and places, but also next door to small shops, camels, goats and the very friendly people of dahab. the view from our balcony on the mountains was a treat every morning, as was the spacious roof terrace, which you share with two appartments, so there are three separate ones. ideal to chill out in the hammock, listen to some music, read a book or just do nothing. there's almost all the time someone around to help you out with small things if needed. the lovely garden is well taken care of and looks beautiful every time you open up the gate. though we didn't bring our laptop, Tim pointed out that there is wireless internet available for the guests. have a wonderfull time here!!"

The perfect place to stay for a Dahab holiday
"We had a wonderful time at Sea Stars (4 adults and 2 children). Tim was a wonderful host, acting as a travel agent whilst we were there - constantly on hand to organise anything we wanted to do. The appartment was exactly as it looked in the photos - spacious, clean and well equipped.
We were there for the windsufing down at the lagoon (about a 5 minute "taxi" ride away), and it couldn't have been better. The taxis were also waiting in the main market square and cost just £1 to get to the lagoon.
If it's Dahab and the diving/snorkelling you're interested in, then Sea Stars is perfect. it is at the north end of Dahab, and there is a lovely walk down the promenade past several lovely restaurants into Dahab centre. The north of the promenade is quieter (about 10 minutes walk from the main Dahab centre), but that suited us perfectly.
I will certainly be recommending it to friends."

"We had a fantastic stay at Sea Stars. Inside, the apartments are very nicely furnished & decorated, without being over the top - really classy. Sometimes photos of accomodation can be misleading, but not in this case - this place really does 'feel' like it looks in the photos (well, quite a bit nicer actually).
The kitchen's well equipped and our hosts had stocked the fridge with some food and drink as a welcome, which was an absolute god-send as we turned up quite late at night.
Beds are also a good size (I'm 6'5" and this is quite an issue for me!) and comfortable too...
Outside, there's a sun-deck with a hammock and deck-chairs on each roof and a reasonable sized garden with plenty of nice plants to sit around in if it gets windy. The garden was great - all the plants were really well kept - it feels really nice coming back to the apartments after you've been out all day (especially if you're covered in dust from quad-biking!).
It's a really easy walk from the main seafront area with bars, restaurants and shops, and you can go the whole way along the beach, was is a pretty good way to spend 10 minutes of any day... It's also a 1 minute walk to an off-licence and various shops for every day supplies.
The apartments are located in the bedouin end of town, and the goats and camels wandering around occassionally definitely add character to the place. You can hear the call to prayer every morning - but you'll hear that everywhere in Dahab, and after a few mornings we had got used to it and it didn't really bother us.
For anyone thinking of doing any diving in Dahab, you really must speak to Tim, who co-runs the apartments. We did an Open Water course with him during our stay, and were so impressed with his attitude and approach. He was so much better than going to a big diving centre - he wasn't pushy at all, we did everything at our pace rather than being rushed along, and (importantly) we had really good fun. He's really switched on about protection of the marine environment as well.
Tim was also just really helpful throughout the stay, sorting out airport transfers and generally making us feel welcome. We're planning on going back later this year......"

"We stayed in the Sea Star Apartments, Eel Garden area, Dahab, for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. We loved the area it was in. The Beduoin Village is quite undeveloped with goats and camels walking the streets. Yet we had an apartment that was extreemly comfortable and clean. It had a lovely roof area to survey the scene from. It is a new building and has a really "clean" feel about it.
It has all the cooking utensils we needed and a great plus was the food in the fridge for us when we arrived - bread, cheese, jam, tea, milk, two beers. It was a good start to be able to have a full stomach.
The owners are helpful and gave us plenty of information on the area. You could walk straight onto the beach (two minutes) and then onto the promenade that after a short walk takes you to a more touristy area. Restuarants also close by.
Overall, the four of us (mother, father and two teenage girls)loved staying there"
